I wonder if it was a combination of already having accomplished a ton, plus not wanting to have to deal with the portal, that was the final straw for Saban

That makes sense and I’m sure there’s some truth to it. But he’s also 72 years old. It probably normal for anybody to want to quit working by that age. He seemed to adapt well to changes in CFB recently. More than Dabo for example.

If he didn't want to deal with the portal wouldn't be have retired when it first became a thing?

This FSU/NCAA thing feels like such bullshit. Hate taking FSUs side but this is kinda laughable

IDK what exactly they were doing so it's hard to take their side. They probably did something incredibly stupid and obviously against the rules.

Not knowing what the rules are, I'm not sure how they broke them

I realize the coaches aren’t supposed to help facilitate the NIL stuff. But do we just expect the players to meet with the coaches on a recruiting visit and then accidentally and totally by chance bump into the NIL dudes on their way out of the football building? I guess, as is the case with all NCAA stuff, just don’t be bad and obvious about breaking the rules.

Gotta hand em a McD's bag with a note written on the inside

Gotta just not have coaches drive a kid who is on an official visit to meet with the guy who explicitly does the one thing the NCAA says you can't do with NIL and tie it to recruiting.
