Hilarious to me seeing the reactions of the journalists to our transfer window. Was it great? No I think we needed a CM at least but we got young and hungry players in positions of need. Got rid of a player who didn’t fit our style and Ole is looking like he’ll trust the young kids. As I said it’s a multi year process but I like the direction.

Ugh, that penalty. Otherwise we've looked pretty good. Two off the posts. Hopefully one will find the net soon. Ready for Pulisic too.

Welp
8/11/2019 12:55:24 PM
We don’t need love. Rather this. Good performance. Some glaring weaknesses though still and we really need to figure out Pogba because he gave the ball away way too many times and in some dangerous areas. Not signing a DM is going to be our biggest mistake this year. Very happy with the new signings, especially Maguire who looked class today. Still can’t believe pundits thought this Chelsea team is better than us because of Lampard. Absolutely ridiculous so I’ll end with fuck off Chelsea and fuck off Lampard. Respect.
8/11/2019 1:23:47 PM
How long is Lamps’ contract?
8/11/2019 2:01:50 PM
Calculated move by Chelsea to bring in a club legend to kill a season where the fan base will eventually be out for blood. Hard to see where the goals are going to come from on a consistent basis looking at their strikers and attacking midfielders.
8/12/2019 3:14:21 PM
Lampard is going to need time. I agree it is hard to envision where they'll get goals from though. Getting rid of Luiz was also a terrible idea, especially while also strengthening Arsenal. There is too much hope on Pulusic who is also going to need time to adjust to the league. Chelsea have a few injuries as well so I think they will improve as the season progresses but there are some major weaknesses in CB and attack. Giroud needs to get them 15 to 20 goals and I just don't see that happening.
8/12/2019 9:23:26 PM
It has to be at least a little concerning to Arsenal fans that Luiz couldn't get ahead of Christensen and Zouma, even though the jury is still out on Lamp's decision-making in general.
8/12/2019 9:30:14 PM
^Clearly Man City legend Frank Lampard's judgment is impaired. Chelsea would have won if he started Pulisic #USAUSAUSA #NBCHype

Well done to United overall but the scoreline was harsh and I think writing off Chelsea already is premature. They dominated the start of the game and Abraham was unlucky to hit the post. I think they have plenty of talent and it will just take a bit for them to work it out. Losing CHO was such a huge blow for them though. If Rashford/Martial play like that all season then United is going to be dangerous. But really they have to be because that midfield is still very weak. They should have bought John McGinn like all the rumors were saying, he is going to be quite the player in the PL imho. At least all their new signings played well so that has to be encouraging and even though I hate United, it was a cool moment to see James score.

He was far and away Villa's best player last weekend and I was really impressed with him too. I was surprised initially when the commentators mentioned he was Villa's player of the season last year over Grealish, but it all made sense as it went on and Grealish kept giving the ball away while McGinn looked dangerous everytime he got on the ball.[Edited on August 13, 2019 at 7:15 AM. Reason : Mings a close second. He'll get snatched up soon if he keeps turning in those performances.]
8/13/2019 7:14:44 AM
Its one game, yes it went sideways in 2nd half, but for the first 30 minutes Chelsea were the better side. The individual mistakes killed us. Zouma looked lost and committed a dumb penalty in the box. I still think Rüdiger is ahead of Zouma but he is coming back from injury and not at full fitness. With regards to David Luiz, this further proves he lacks heart, he didn't want to earn his spot. After this last game he may have been back in starting XI. As for selling him late, he had them over a barrel, not enough options. If he stayed it could have been a detriment to the squad as Frank well knows that player rebellions in the locker room lead to sacked managers as he was a part of a few of those.

Is the super cup a "real" trophy or is it just community shield part 2?
8/13/2019 11:16:35 AM
What do you think? It's the winner of a major league competition against the winner of a minor league competition. To quote kiljadn:
8/13/2019 12:18:22 PM
Yea i was 99% sure, but usually barely the pay attn
8/13/2019 2:25:47 PM
Supercup is more fun than the community shield though I think. A bit more bite as it's a European night. Doesn't mean anything but it's fun to watch and semi competitive.
8/13/2019 8:47:57 PM
Yea I'll enjoy watching either wayAnyway, this column has some good stuff about Chelsea's D and pulisichttps://nograssintheclouds.substack.com/p/what-to-expect-from-christian-pulisic

Porto knocked out of UCL qualifying, therefore the annual Liverpool/Porto match has been cancelled.
8/14/2019 9:58:23 AM
I take back what I said about the Super Cup if Chelsea wins. In that case, it's one of the most meaningful trophies in the universe.
8/14/2019 3:03:34 PM
Pulisic looks good

It really was a chore.
8/15/2019 10:04:12 AM

Nice early test of Tottenham's credentials. Will be an interesting match I think. I have a feeling Tottenham can sneak a draw but the city players are probably going to be up for it after the semi. Wolves is a big test of our ability to be consistent. They deservedly beat us twice at the Molineux last year and caused all top 6 teams issues. Midfield control is our biggest weakness and I am interested to see how we do. I expect to lose the midfield battle and that will be where Pogba has to be calm and smart about ball retention. I think we will see if the revamped defense has truly made a difference but our lack of quality DM is going to show here and I expect Wolves to grab 3 points. Expecting the worst and hoping for the best until this team can show consistency. We can cause a lot of problems with our pace but we are still relying too much on the defense to bail out a weak midfield. On another note: has anyone subscribed to the athletic? Their articles and journalism has been on point IMO and really considering subscribing myself. Especially when the latest ESPNFC headline is, "Man City win vs. Spurs could end title race before it starts." This is such lazy and terrible journalism. [Edited on August 15, 2019 at 9:42 PM. ^^I signed up the other day actually, $35 for the year using one of the referral links going around. They have a ton of good writers with a variety of club specific stuff so it's not just the top 6 and the main writers do Q&A chats after every game. The app is top notch too
8/16/2019 7:18:19 AM
Fully agree the ESPNFC website is fucking trash. I'll watch the show on ESPN+ 2-3 times a month and it's ok, but the site is garbage due to crap articles like the one referenced ^^^.

The Athletic hired James Pearce for there Liverpool coverage. I'm considering joining myself.
