They also consider road conditions for students in rural parts of the county. If buses will have trouble safely getting students to and from school, it's a no-go.

they’re the same people who get mad and act like meteorologists are lying to them if a forecast isn’t 100% correct

^No. No they're not. They're people who all of a sudden at the last minute have to make arrangements for child care, because most of the time a person's work isn't going to follow the county school schedule.

I'm not saying I disagree with the decision, as I'm sure buses have trouble in tropical storm force wind. Those things look like they have a high center of gravity.

Just out of curiosity, do ^ have kids?

Well, back in my day, I walked 10 miles, uphill, in a foot of snow, to school.

Also, all meteorologists are idiots. What other job can you be wrong all the time and not get fired? Why do they act like they know what's going to happen when they don't know any more than you or me?

Well, they make their best guesses based on the evidence they have. They're more accurate than the farmer's almanac. No reason to get mad when they're incorrect though. You can choose to either listen to them, ignore them, or check your redneck weather rock outside.

I do have two kids. Both are in school in Greensboro. We are not even supposed to get rain till late tomorrow. That's what I am complaining about. We have turned into a society where everyone is so scared of what could happen they react way to quickly. Hell, my kids got at at 12 today for an early release and the golf course across the street was full of golfers. They missed 2 days last year because there was a threat of snow....

no kids, but if I did, I’d be ok with precaution when it came to their safety in severe weather

I get making childcare arrangements being a pain. But 2 days because of the threat of snow or 1-2 days because of the threat of flooding...is that really so bad?

I don’t know...the whole thing smacks of “back in my day we didn’t have it so easy” which is just the age old cycle of the older folks claiming to have had it harder back in their day.

Is this thing expected to take out many trees? That's my main concern since I have so many close my house.

Did quite a large jog North it looks like. Slowed down quite a bit as well now in terms of movement, not wind speed.

It's ripping at that Frying Pan tower right now and still a good 12 hours to go.

____

^you need to watch and see how far north it moves before it hits land. That will be a good tell for how much wind/rain we get in Raleigh

as of now, the track wont do as much as earlier in the week when it tracked NNW

Everything I'm reading says you don't need to worry about trees snapping until winds are 75+ mph. That being said, if the ground is super saturated they can uproot and fall over.

Looking at the past track.

They had it up on TWC earlier, not sure what website or software they were using, but it did an almost due north jog which i believe made them change the forecast cone.

Also the eye did a small restructure over the past 2 hours. Pretty cool to see. This storm as maintained itself pretty well.

It looks like its following the projected path to me, how is it north? And I thought the eyeball replacement was actually just the backside of the eye not yet in range of the radar. Where are you getting this? If it's from that weather forum stop reading that site

Watching infared loop and the cloud cover maps along with the NWS info.
It was a really short job due north, nothing that will show up on their 'prediction cone'

Again, the forecast map wont show the jog...

Reading comprehension ftw.

There's a reason why the NWS has moved the track more northward in terms of where it will make landfall and why they are upping the warnings in terms of which counties get warnings.

____

Look at the infared map right now and tell me you don't see that eye going straight north...

Link? when did they increase anything?

Watches and warnings are increasing just because the storm is getting closer, the forecast hasn't changed from what ivive seen
