do we really need sources to tell us that the dude is gone after this shitshow of a season? ray charles can see that he's done.

Okay, I'm relatively new to this flight tracking thing. But from the information I've gathered Billy Donovan was in Indiana last Monday and is visiting the DC area (Georgetown?) tonight. My guess is that Indiana will make a strong push for him so if we want him we need to get him here soon.

Pull a Miami and hire Bob McKillop.
2/13/2017 8:52:10 PM
Stevie Wonder can see that Gottfried is gone. Because he watch Armstrongs segment.Because he's not really blind.

It won't matter, his buyout is really the issue along with 2.8 mill owed to Gott. We have the money though the new coach will likely want a million a year easily. With that said, Debbie gonna be gone, Gott gone, DD with one year to prove himself.Bring in the SC AD...Although I'd be surprised if Archie makes that jump...but he'd be a fool not to...and we would be fools not to at least ask.

it makes me so happy to see that JT3bucky understands contracts like nobody else on this board

I'm pretty much over Coach Gott, but good god am I not looking forward to a coaching search and the imminent transfers. Two years of a bare bones bench and growing pains incoming (and that's pretty much the rosiest projection I can make, it assumes the coaching search goes relatively well).
2/14/2017 9:14:26 AM
In my opinion this will be the most important coaching search in program history. If we get this one wrong and do not take advantage of the coming retirement of many of the great ACC coaches our program is done. We have a chance to get someone in here knowing that transition is coming for many schools. If we can get someone who can establish a consistent winner before those changes happen good things could happen. If we blow it and those programs make good hires as expected we will be left in the dust again and doubtfully will ever recover. We had this same chance in football when the ACC had some down years and we had some pretty good teams and instead teams like Maryland and Wake won titles and here we are now a perennial 6-6 team.
2/14/2017 9:42:39 AM
^^I hate to break it to you, but the next two years look pretty bleak if we kept Gott as well. And the reality is that with Gott, the same players who may transfer with a coaching change were probably gonna transfer from Gott. That is his specialty.[Edited on February 14, 2017 at 9:52 AM. Did anyone actually see Gottfried as a long-term solution? I never did. This season, as it should be seen, is the best possible scenario.
2/14/2017 10:44:24 AM
I took being 3 points and Jeff Whithey from the elite 8 as a pretty good sign.

It's only the best possible scenario if we land a better coach. I was done with Gott -- his defense always sucks, his offense is outdated, and his teams don't have any grit, etc -- but he did some good things here. Two Sweet 16's and four NCAA trips in six years ain't bad. But I think everybody is right in saying we were going to have some transfer either way. A new coach might give the team new hope. Really need Johnson and Kapita to stay. I think those two guys are the keys to being awful and being decent next year.
2/14/2017 1:43:53 PM
Rowan and Yurt will likely still be around, doubt Johnson goes anywhere else or Kapita, both can play whomever the coach is.
2/14/2017 1:49:10 PM
I wish Rowan would transfer
2/14/2017 1:57:13 PM

2/14/2017 2:07:05 PM
So which morons inside the program decided it would be a good idea to leak this story to Armstrong?

do wha? link?
2/14/2017 2:23:23 PM
I heard he's homesick and would head home to OH.
2/14/2017 2:32:01 PM
That's the rumor being passed around here and at packpride, but I haven't seen anything from Giglio on Johnson.
2/14/2017 2:33:03 PM
Who cares, if we get a new coach, i want a new start. Cupboard bare, no excuses about winning with the other coach's players etc... Reboot the system.
2/14/2017 3:11:17 PM
Fire all the players!!!
2/14/2017 3:17:16 PM
I am gonna put my early money on Gregg Marshall. Now that we are 5 or so years closer to K and Roy being gone maybe he will decide its a better opportunity now than it was back then?
2/14/2017 3:29:23 PM
2/14/2017 3:32:00 PM
My point is, the coach should be free to let go of players, even if they're highly recruited/touted, if they don'e fit his system. Maryland under Turdgeon had a lot of transfers initially, but they're doing pretty good now.
2/14/2017 3:34:19 PM
Marshall would be a great hire. It's not happening
2/14/2017 3:59:43 PM
Maybe we should register for some china if our cupboard keeps ending up bare.

man fuck gregg marshall.also, if we get shit on by a bunch of big names, i would much rather offer the job to levelle moton than kevin keatts. that dude wins at fucking central. plus we wouldn't really even need to pay him to move, he can just commute from durham.
