run game should be v strong (again) this year. a healthy Dayes, Gallaspy, Frasier...plus JaySam and Hines can certainly carry it too, but aren't really traditional RBs.

I think when we beat UNC in Chapel Hill two years ago they finished 6-6 and lost the bowl to go 6-7, right? there may be one or two other examples as well.

Doeren makes me wish I didn't like football so much. It's been almost an entire decade of unwatchable, poorly coached football. TOB and DD killed this program, it's going to take a miracle to get us back in the top 25 again.

Like i said, not great. Still, you can't really say that the program has been better under O'Brien or Doeren.

Our recruiting classes are consistently in the 40th ranked range nationally, we're losing in state recruits to UNC just about every time, and we look unprepared on a regular basis.

2010 is the last time we looked like a competent football team, and that was only because we had an NFL star as our QB.

I wish to hell there were signs that we would be competitive this year, but there just aren't any. Is there any real reason to think this team can win more than 4-5 games this season? I'm just not seeing it. 7 out of 12 at home and it's still looking pretty dismal. I'll happily wager 5 $lafta bucks that we go under 6 wins.

Pretty good chance we lose at either @ecu or @syracuse. What have you seen that makes you confident that winning either of those is a given? We definitely should win on the road against the Pirates but we've got a new QB and new O-line so any early road game will be a test and it's going to be a hostile environment.

@syracuse and vs. BC should be wins, but again, hardly gimmies. BC had a really good defense last year and a shit offense. It'll be less shit this year. Syracuse will be a competent team this year and is looking at the same .500 record were hoping to have. Wake Forest was trash last year but we're certainly capable of losing to them.

The only reason the amato years post rivers sucked was because we had no qb. Our defenses were still mostly great, they were just on the field 80% of the game.

You can throw records and ability out the windows when we play ecu or unc or duke or wake. Those games are always very difficult because of the rivalry nature of them.

That ecu game is going to be very very tough. Mid call it 50/50 also.

Why is the recruiting thing funny to you? We're currently ranked 45th nationally for our 2017 class, they're 65th. UNC has dominates us in state and we're going after a lot of 2-3 star guys in state, so is ECU. If we lose to them it's going to hurt us. If we win it will help. Why the hell else would the coaching staff want this game?

I know it's hard to admit, but we're a middle to bottom tier ACC football program. We've had less overall success recently than just about anybody except BC and Wake. This is a really important year.

Yeah, it would be great if we didn't play them, but we do. And we'll continue playing them regularly. If you think the fact that they've won the last 2 against us doesn't matter for in-state recruiting them you're a crazy person.

We even have a stupid little rivalry trophy with them, so hoping not to have to play the game is fruitless. It doesn't really help us with SOS rankings, it's only function is to showcase our program vs. theirs for recruiting.
