I get what your saying but United just broke the transfer record without CL. Not many clubs can match United money wise. Their last 4 or 5 transfer windows have been silly money.

Not so much that United can't compete money-wise, but more so they would want to go somewhere with guaranteed CL that can still pay United-type wages.

There is another huge appeal to United even without CL for at least a few more years. Players want to play for the best managers and Mourinho has still got it. Sure talk about not moving from 6th but this United team is miles ahead of just this time last year. The draws killed us and thats our fault but I also think the team will get better next year and we will certainly have some more reinforcements. United have managed to sign Mata, Zlatan, Mikhi, Pogba, and Martial without CL football. The track record shows we can recruit players despite the lack of CL.

I'd expect you to downplay missing it potentially 3 out of the last 4.

The truth is, players like them which will have every club in europe knocking on their door can and will be swayed by similar wages and guaranteed chances at actually winning it, as opposed to maybe/possibly if everything goes right we can sneak into the 4th slot next season. If Mbappe has the same wages offer from United or Chelsea/Bayern/Real/Barca/City/Juve, where do you think he ends up honestly?
