FUCK YA!

Haven't played in a few months, what all have they added?
4/21/2015 10:00:44 AM
oh man all sorts of stuff. these things have either been added recently or are going to be added in 1.0...an almost complete redo of the aircrafty partscargo baysfairingsreentry heat (that causes actual damage!!)up-gradable (and destructible) facilitiesfemale kerbals"gadgets" in the assembly building... basically tools which make rotating and offsetting parts much more effectivespecialized kerbals... pilots, scientists, and engineers... each with unique and upgradable skills (limited "autopilot" type stuff for pilots, etc... well not really autopilot... more like "hey jeb, point the ship prograde and hold it there")kerbals can now climb on things easieroh...UPGRADED AERODYNAMICS... this is coming in 1.0... no more atmosphere soup.resources that can be mined on other celestial bodiesbetter handling of sphere of influence transitioning lots of back-end memory usage optimizing everything that contains kerbals has in IVA viewupgraded landing gearand tons more... these were just off the top of my head. this is a very ambitious release coming up. I hope all goes well.

oh...found this list of new features for 1.0...http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/110482-KSP-1-0-General-Thread-All-the-new-features

Ahahahah the overhauled aerodynamics are awesome.First attempt at a routine 1,000 m/s flight near ground ended spectacularly.

^ ya really not sure about that. Like that its more realistic, not liking that I cant use a rocket like a jetplane. How are you guys using your heat shields/what does your re-entry vehicles look like? Also has anyone gotten something to land on a planet with athmos but be a relaunch (aka moon lander but on a planet).
5/2/2015 6:36:18 PM
everything I've landed back on Kerbin so far has been a capsule/parachute and a heat shield, and not much else. I did use a small bay between the capsule and heat shield to store batteries, experiments, etc in. still working my way through career mode so I haven't ventured too far past the Mun yet. (I've only sat down to play it twice so far)

Ya which sucks for module recovery. Ive been using stage recovery to save money, but stuff either burns up (if left on its own), or burns up or breaks off if kept with the pod.
5/4/2015 1:09:58 PM
ive just been going with cheap expendable stages.

Fate has ordained that the kerbals who went to the mun to explore in peace will stay on the moon to rest in peace. These brave men, Jebediah Kerman and... uh, the other one, know that there is no hope for their recovery. But they also know that there is hope for kerbalkind in their sacrifice. These two kerbals are laying down their lives in kerbalkind's most noble goal: the search for truth and understanding. They will be mourned by their families and friends; they will be mourned by their nation; they will be mourned by the people of the world; they will be mourned by a Mother Kerbin that dared send two of her sons into the unknown. In their exploration, they stirred the people of the world to feel as one; in their sacrifice, they bind more tightly the brotherhood of kerbal. In ancient days, kerbals looked at stars and saw their heroes in the constellations. In modern times, we do much the same, but our heroes are epic kerbals of flesh and goo.Others will follow, and surely find their way home. Kerbal's search will not be denied. But these kerbals were the first, and they will remain the foremost in our hearts. For every kerbal entity who looks up at the mun in the nights to come will know that there is some corner of another world that is forever kerbalkind.-Richard Knixon

Smath you made Manley's flying runway yet?
5/20/2015 12:07:08 AM
haven't seen that video yet... been a little out of the loop with the school year winding down but i did use KSP for a lesson in class. (excuse to play for a period)
5/20/2015 2:03:41 AM
Coming to PS4 apparently.

First time it's been this low of a price in a LONG time! (and they are about to release a new version to boot!...)http://store.steampowered.com/app/220200/

There should be stock jet engines that burn fuel and oxidizer for use on the other planets that have atmosphere. With the smaller planet sizes, space-planes are super effective on the planets with oxygen, but there is no substitute for Eve and Duna...except, such could easily exist.
9/14/2016 1:28:07 AM
they have those. they are called rocket engines
9/14/2016 9:39:07 AM
Rocket engines have a puny isp compared to what a fuel+liquid oxygen fed jet engine would produce. Sure, the Isp would be halved or similar because you had to carry the oxidizer with you, but even then the Isp would be many thousands, compared to most jet engines on Eve which crap out at 180 to 250 Isp at sea level.
9/15/2016 2:04:12 PM
dude that's kinda the purpose of rockets... when you can't extract oxygen from the atmosphere you have to carry it with you and optimize the engine for that purpose
9/15/2016 7:01:35 PM
No, he's talking about SABRE rockets, not traditional rockets.
9/15/2016 8:30:10 PM
that is essentially a hybrid between the two. once you have to bring your own oxygen the Tsiolkovsky rocket equation applies.
9/16/2016 10:27:31 AM
That is most certainly not what I'm discussing. The equation applies when the rocket propels part of itself, the propellant, out the back. Usually the propellant and the energy source are the same material, hydrogen+oxygen, say. What I'm talking about is a machine that grabs atmosphere from the front and propels that out the back at greater speed. The propellant and the energy source are different. The propellant is the non-reactive atmosphere, and the energy source is the fuel+oxygen from the tanks. To make it a bit more explicit, take a propeller driven aircraft and add an oxygen supply to augment the gasoline so the engine has something to burn.
9/16/2016 11:12:36 PM
got it. i didn't realize that is what you meant.
9/17/2016 10:49:08 AM
Anyone still playing this?
4/27/2017 1:51:09 AM
The footage for ksp2 is kind of bad. I know it is early access but this game was originally slated for 2020...what happened? How does it have less features than ksp1?
