Maybe it's optimism or craziness, but I think Franklin is still the target. I think Yow said what she said to help Franklin avoid distraction in preparing for a bowl game....
11/25/2012 10:18:29 PM
He doesn't need to focus on the bowl to beat the shit out of Bible.
11/25/2012 10:27:06 PM
Any more Harbaugh brothers out there?
11/25/2012 11:01:22 PM
John's brother in law is the basketball coach at Indiana. Close enough? And Jim's son is an intern for the Oregon State football team. Can we get him this soon?[Edited on November 25, 2012 at 11:07 PM. Reason : ]

11/25/2012 11:39:20 PM
COWHER or STEVE LOGAN! DO ITTTTT
11/26/2012 12:02:34 AM
I vote for Steve Logan just for sound bites.
11/26/2012 12:03:35 AM
I vote for Steve Logan just so he can be the head coach at a BCS school while ECU wallows in misery. Also, so he can beat them and make them even more pissed at us
11/26/2012 12:14:48 AM
Not to mention Logan is an experienced coach. 10 years at ECU, Europe, and NFL
11/26/2012 12:18:12 AM
Ssly why do you guys like logan
11/26/2012 12:31:18 AM
^
11/26/2012 12:35:15 AM
I hate sports radio for the most part, but I could listen to Steve Logan all day long.A weekly coach's show where he tells every dumbfuck backseat coaching State fan how stupid they are over the air would be a dream.

Was written before the firing but nice to see.http://www.mrsec.com/2012/11/cowher-or-ryan-to-cats-gruden-to-vols-or-hogs-lombardi-to-tigers-making-sense-of-the-nonsense/

Who has Franklin even beaten while at Vandy?
11/26/2012 8:28:51 AM
11/26/2012 8:40:11 AM
Can't see Smart coming here. He'll get an SEC job this year or sometime extremely soon.I'd take him...but I just don't see it happening. He'll also leave in a couple years for a better SEC job.
11/26/2012 8:51:48 AM
LOGAN FOR HEAD COACH. GET OUT THE BLANK CASSETTE TAPES TO RECORD THOSE SOUND BITES.
11/26/2012 8:54:29 AM
I can't fathom a world where Kirby Smart comes here with Auburn and UT with vacant head coaching positions.[Edited on November 26, 2012 at 9:08 AM. Reason : Meant to include Arkansas too]
11/26/2012 8:57:52 AM
11/26/2012 9:06:27 AM
11/26/2012 9:10:29 AM
11/26/2012 9:13:14 AM
maybe I'm delusional but I can see the appeal of State over a job like UT/Auburn IF we're willing to pay comparable salaries.Decent facilities/fan base without the crazy pressure of making a national championship game, a favorable schedule every year that should get you 6-6 on a bad year and the potential of 10+ win season/ACC title/BCS game if things go right.[Edited on November 26, 2012 at 9:23 AM. Reason : clearly not a destination job but definitely a solid stepping stone job for a top coordinator]
11/26/2012 9:22:18 AM
I definitely see the appeal of our job...I think we are the top job available besides UT and Auburn...but those come w/ extreme expectations....I think we are in a pretty good spot to pull off an A+ hire if Yow sells it right.
11/26/2012 9:27:53 AM
Arkansas and Kentucky are both available as well, and the SEC is king. Better to overachieve at UK than come here, go to mediocre bowls, and get shouted down by our stupid fans who still think Chuck Amato was a baller.
11/26/2012 9:32:03 AM
My response is how on earth could we offer similar money to any of the SEC schools? Our revenue is 50% of any of those three. He'll it's $30M less than Kentucky too. It's just hard to compete in a $ sense with them. I would love to say Yow can go out and land a Kirby Smart type but in this years landscape I don't want to set myself up for disappointment/anger when that doesn't happen.
11/26/2012 9:36:22 AM
Come to NC State, where you can keep your job if you have losing seasons your first 3 yearsorCome to Auburn, where we'll fire you 2 years after winning a national championship
11/26/2012 9:42:34 AM
Come to Auburn, win a title, go sit at home collecting 7.1 million dollars. I think I would take that every day of the week myself
11/26/2012 9:50:21 AM
touche
11/26/2012 10:07:16 AM
I'm so sick of hearing about facilities as to why we should be better/competitive/recruit better/a reason for a great coach to come here. That might have been a factor 20 years ago but these days everyone has "facilities."I mean what does it take, a decent weight room a flat screen tv and some Xbox games? Our facilities just keep us on par with all the other middle of the road programs out there. It isn't nearly as big a deal as people make it out to be and it's annoying how often it gets referenced.
11/26/2012 10:41:39 AM
11/26/2012 10:44:17 AM
Facilities matter, but it's not the main selling point. I'm not sure we have a main selling point ... more like a combo of good things: -good facilities-good fan support-good in-state talent and recruiting base-some current NFL successes-relatively easy conference-relatively low expectations
11/26/2012 10:58:50 AM
I think Nick Saban should show that he is in fact a really good coach and take on this project to build a national title team. Sure you can do it at LSU and Alabama but a real coach could do it at NC State.
11/26/2012 11:14:13 AM
^what an awesomely original and hilarious joke!!

11/26/2012 11:25:52 AM
Thanks!
11/26/2012 11:25:56 AM
^^I'm not saying another school wouldn't give him a better chance to win a national championship. That aint' happening here. But I do think there's potential to win big for a long time here. From the ESPN Insider article from the 4th page of this thread...
11/26/2012 11:57:34 AM
I stand by my page 1 request of kliff kingsbury.
