We finished #5 in offensive efficiency and #32 in defense and #32 in special teams last year.

This year I'm predicting #3 in offense (running game stays #1 overall and cam cuts down on int), #28def, #21 st.

Tough to predict a record bc our d/st have so much room to improve so who knows what we will get. You never know cam could regress but its unlikely.

I think 9-7 is a good guess but we have 12-4 upside if the division falls apart or our defense does anything right this year.

So, if Cam gets the Madden cover, will he get his own TD celebration animation (Superman)?

We'll go 7-9

Mare is still the kicker and the lockout hurt defenses way more than offenses. The story on Cam will be "sophomore slump" even though he'll still be really damn good

I don't know I doubt Cam throws as many INT's as he did last year and our run game should be awesome again. We're coming off the best rushing season in the past 20 years of the NFL and running games tend to stay fairly consistent from year to year.

Our special teams can't possibly be as bad as last year, we'll get a regression to the mean. Just way too unlikely we give up all those TD's and get nothing out of our return game. And I doubt Mare misses as many kicks either.

Our defense can't possibly be any worse. With an improved dline, better safety play, and healthier LB's we should be able to jump into the top 25 or so defensively. Let's hope Gamble wasn't a fluke last year and maintains his status as arguably the best cover CB in the league.

? Gamble had some of the best coverage stats in the league last year
Quote :
"
- Charted Targets: 61

- Yards per pass: 6.2 (15th in the NFL)- Down from 6.7 in 2010

- Success Rate: 66% (5th in the NFL)- Up from 39% in 2010

- YAC: 2.9 (23rd in the NFL)- Down from 4.4 in 2010

Overall rank: 14th

Given that Gamble was asked to be in man coverage almost exclusively in 2011 it's easy to see why the yards per pass, and YAC would be a little higher. It's that success rate that really shows how dominant Gamble was in 2011. This means that opposing offenses only got a good play 34% of the time, and here's some food for thought: Darrelle Revis' success rate was 62%. That's right, in 2011 Gamble was better."

Quote :
"So just how good was Gamble in 2011? I'm glad you asked. Please see the chart below with the WR's that Gamble was assigned to cover during the season, and notice the lack of statistics from those receivers.

Player Rec Yds TD Long
Larry Fitzgerald 3 62 0 34
Greg Jennings 2 55 1 49
Marques Colston 5 69 0 22
Roddy White 2 21 0 14
Santana Moss 2 17 0 16
Percy Harvin 4 58 0 22
Damian Williams 5 107 1 43
Calvin Johnson 5 89 0 30
Reggie Wayne 5 122 1 56
Mike Williams 5 93 0 42
Roddy White 7 84 1 26
Kevin Walter 2 26 0 19
Mike Williams 4 39 0 13
Marques Colston 7 145 2 42
"

Quote :
"If you're still skeptical, what if I told you that I'm not the only one who noticed Gamble's stellar play in 2011? According to Pro Football Focus, Gamble allowed a catch every 18.1 snaps in coverage. That's 2nd best in the NFL. QB's had a 45% completion rate when throwing at Gamble, which is 4th best in the league. Also, opposing QB's had a rating of 53.3 against Gamble, which is 3rd best amongst NFL corners. When the only two CB's better than you are Darrelle Revis and Asante Samuel in terms of QB rating against, you must be doing something right.

Let's not just take PFF's word for it though. Let's also look at Football Outsiders and see what they have to say. (Please note: these numbers are through Week 13 of the 2011 season. I don't have more current numbers because I don't subscribe to FO's premium content.)

Through Week 13, Gamble was the 12th best CB in the league with a 63% success rate, allowing 6.8 yards per pass and 3.1 yards after catch. Success rate is a subjective term, but FO's definition is "The percentage of plays targeting a defensive player on which the offense did not have a successful play". It's hard to determine if plays where the safety didn't help in coverage are counted, but the fact that Gamble was successful 63% of the time he was thrown at shows me that he's nowhere near as bad as the majority of fans think. In fact, he's pretty darn good."

^ Or you could just learn to say 'I was wrong.'

For those beefing that we 'only' get two primetime games, look at the standings. You gotta win to get the good slots.

5 games: 49ers (NFLN 1/ESPN 2/NBC 2), Bears (1/3/1), Broncos (1/2/2), Chargers (1/2/2), Eagles (1/2/2), Giants (1/1/3), Packers (1/1/3), Steelers (1/1/3)
4 games: Cowboys (0/1/3), Falcons (1/2/1), Jets (0/2/2), Lions (0/2/2), Patriots (0/1/3), Ravens (1/1/2), Saints (1/1/2), Texans (0/2/2)
3 games: Bengals (1/1/1)
2 games (all have 1 on NFLN and 1 on ESPN): Cardinals, Chiefs, Panthers, Raiders, Seahawks, Titans
1 game on NFLN: Bills, Browns, Buccaneers, Colts, Dolphins, Jaguars, Rams, Vikings
1 game on ESPN: Redskins

We're the only team picking in the top 10 with more than one night game. Wins = Exposure.

Unless you play for teh Pittsburgh Squealers, NE Cheaters, or the Phallus CowGirls.

Hell the Cowgirls have not been to the playoffs since 09 and they have the same primetime games
as the AFC champ Patriots and the super bowl winning Giants (excluding NFLN).

Late to the Gamble conversation, but I think it's possible that opposing QBs just thought it would be much easier to throw Munnerlyn's way all day long

2 days from the draft, lets assume:

1. Luck
2. RG3
3. Kalil
4. Richardson
5. Claiborn
6. Blackmon

Next we have

7. JAX
8. MIA
9. Panthers

Jacksonville is probably going to take a defensive end, whether Coples or Ingram

Miami has a good shot at drafting Tannehill

If it plays out like that, I want to try and trade down...hopefully one of the teams 3-8 will do something really, really stupid and we can draft one of those 3-6 guys

jacksonville can always be relied upon to do something completely retarded with their first pick

taking melvin ingram would qualify but it's usually even dumber than that

He did score a 4 on the wonderlic. If that's not scaring teams off, a DUI ain't either.

I wouldn't mind a WR at 9 -- and yes, Floyd is a badass -- but I just don't see how we don't go defense with the first pick. If Fletcher Cox is already gone, I'm all for some Luke Kuechly.

I assume TD's career is over unfortunately, anything from him is a plus, so if we get a 75% Beason leading up to a 100% Beason midway through the season, with Anderson and Kuechly, thats fine...but we need more defensive linemen

There should be some decent guys at the end of round 1/start of round 2. Jerrell Worthy from Mich St was a beast every time I saw him play. Maybe he's there, or maybe the Panthers trade back into the first round to get him.

Agreed though... They need some help on the interior bad. Maybe Edwards helps, but the two rookies looked completely overwhelmed last year.

I saw Alfonzo Dennard, at one time a late 1st/2nd round projection, has slide down as far as 5th rounds in some mocks. Kinda surprising. I'm sure his fight with Jeffery in their bowl game and assaulting a cop last week play a huge part. But talent-wise I'd love to get him in the 5th round.

I'm betting Janoris Jenkins will now be there. Not because he's not any less talented -- he's said to be the best cover corner in the draft. But because he recently admitted he still did drugs at Northern Alabama. He also has four kids from four different moms.

I really don't give a shit though, especially in the second round.
