not reallysure, the league's talent level is at a historic height, but the overall quality of play this season has been hurt by the lockout and the ensuing condensed scheduleshooting percentages are down across the board, a lot of teams have struggled to find cohesion and played some pretty sloppy balldon't get me wrong, i contend that the NBA is the most exciting team sport by leaps and bounds, but i think last season was strongernext year'll be crazy fucking good
2/2/2012 3:51:26 AM
Denver is putting a beatdown on the Clips.
2/3/2012 12:45:34 AM
Hey face...I thought Nene was suppose to dominate this year??
2/3/2012 7:42:30 AM
Six weeks in, it’s becoming increasingly apparent that the majority of the regular season is nothing more than a tune up for the top contenders. This occurs during the full 82 seasons as well, but its magnified this year with the clustered scheduling. You’d think, with 1/5th of the games lopped off the slate, coaches would realize the reduced sample size would yield itself to more tightly packed standings at season’s end, with less separation between the good and bad. And while we’re seeing some truly awful teams like the Wizards and Bobcats, we’re also seeing teams with legit chances to win sacrifice some of those chances solely to shield their players from the grind of increased minutes in the compacted slate. Gregg Popovich, who has always limited his stars’ minutes, has taken it to another level this season. Just the other day against Dallas, he plays Danny Green the entire fourth quarter and overtime in a game they lose after holding multiple double digit leads. Danny Green! Duncan and Parker were on the bench this whole time, perfectly healthy. Popovich determined that 1/66th of the season’s value was worth less than giving his best options some extra rest, and we’re barely 1/3rd of the way into the season.Other coaches have been limiting the minutes of their stars as well, especially the one star teams like Chicago and Orlando where the success of the team as a whole depends almost entirely on the success of one individual. Older players who have been playing 35 minutes their entire careers are now playing barely half the games. Kobe is a genetic freak, and breaks all know rules of age/talent evaluation. But look at guys like Dirk and Wade, Paul and Carmelo…normally durable players who have each missed a handful or more of games thus far due to the ridiculous schedule. Seven games in nine nights is insane.I’m very interested to see how things shape up before the playoffs. This is a very strange season…All Star starters were announced last night, when based on a normal calendar, we’d still be in mid-December. Carmelo Anthony is still an All Star Starter, proving once again that fans are idiots. I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see a lot of upsets this year. Teams with depth like Denver and Philly will thrive thru April, but their strengths will be mitigated when rotations shorten in the playoffs, and the back-to-back-to-backs cease. Philly is playing out of its mind right now. They’ve won eight games by 20 points. They’re my league pass fixture, along with Minnesota and Lob City. If they draw the three seed, I think they have a legit shot to beat Chicago in a seven game series.Should be a fun next few months.

when did you get unsuspended? go make those last four nfl draft picks, honkey
2/3/2012 12:18:26 PM
Nene is having a down season, no doubt. He signed a huge contract so he probably didn't workout at all during the offseason to make sure he didn't get hurt. The argument was always that Nene is better than Amare though. Which he is by leaps and bounds again this season.

Sometimes Face will sell you the NBA like a broker.
2/4/2012 11:56:07 AM
but Amare plays over 3 more minutes per game!!111oneoneone
2/4/2012 11:58:20 AM
^^^ don't I automatically win the debate if I catch you making up fake stats to support your argument ?Amare is terrible this year his wp48 has turned NEGATIVE for gods sake.Chandler is having a career year and they've gotten worse even adding him. Amare might be finished.
2/4/2012 12:55:49 PM
what stats did he make up? or does rounding to the nearest 0.5 the same as fabricating stats to you?ps: Amare has a higher efficiency than Nene this seasonleaps and bounds though, right?
2/4/2012 1:01:19 PM
^^wtf are you talking about?? And what alternative universe are you living in where Nene is this golden god?? Al Harrington is having a bigger impact on that Denver team than he is this year.
2/4/2012 4:23:53 PM
Amare Fg% is closer this year to 36% than it is 53%So am I allowed to say he is shooting 36% Fg when pointing out Nene is better?
2/4/2012 7:34:14 PM
Oh yeah jbrick you listed amares career fg%

2/5/2012 4:41:09 AM
My bad.Nene had another HUGE game last night...4 pts, 2 rebs on 1 of 5 shooting!! Definitely one of the top big men in the league. Straight tearing it up!![Edited on February 5, 2012 at 9:53 AM. Reason : my bad on messing up the fg%...obviously it was on purpose]
2/5/2012 9:48:36 AM
Camby made Nene his bitch last nightCamby is what, 45 years old?
2/5/2012 10:02:21 AM
^ If that guy wasn't injured so much, he'd be the perfect fantasy player. He gets like 15 blocks and 30 rebs a game. And I'm not a Nene hater...I'm banking on him to improve for me to have a chance in my fantasy league this year. He's just not this amazing player that rally claims him to be. Even in his best years he's never averaged 15 and 8. He'll never sniff Amare in his prime. Nene will never score 50 in a game or average 37 in a playoff series against a Tim Duncan-level player. He'll never block 10 shots in a game either (which Amare did early in his career).I just don't know where this dick-riding comes from.
2/5/2012 1:33:57 PM
2/5/2012 2:49:54 PM
I could see Anthony Davis having a very Marcus Camby-like careereither him or Tyson Chandler
2/5/2012 3:03:06 PM
Nene is not that good this year, I'm agreeing with you on that. He was a top big man the last five years or so.Carmelo has always been criminally overrated. Trading him is what made them contenders.
2/6/2012 2:22:14 PM
If by top big man you mean..."top 15"...then yes, I agree. He's on the fringe.
2/6/2012 2:38:02 PM
Lol, he was incredible last season
2/6/2012 2:41:52 PM
He had an above average year last year...but to call any of his past years "incredible"...is just a flat out exaggeration.Andrew Bynum has been just as good the last 5 years...and I don't see anyone voting him 1st team All-NBA.
2/6/2012 2:49:40 PM
FUCKBillups might be done for the season, his career could be over. May have ruptured his left Achilles tendon. If so this is sad. I love me some Mr. Big Shot. http://www.foxsportsflorida.com/02/07/12/Clippers-win-bittersweet-with-loss-of-Bi/landing.html?blockID=661088&feedID=3798[Edited on February 7, 2012 at 2:12 AM. 2/7/2012 2:12:19 AM
^^ bynum and Nene have both been elite big men for the past several years don't be silly How many other guys average 18 ppg on 60%+ shooting???^ big injury but he had struggled at sg. Obviously they are glad they didn't trade mo Williams yet they don't lose too much. If griffin snaps out of his funk they're still possible contenders. Really didn't expect him to get worse with Paul , weird.
2/7/2012 6:07:12 AM
Nene has never averaged 18 ppg. He's never even averaged 15 ppg.Better than average big man does not equal "elite".
2/7/2012 7:20:35 AM
I should've been more careful there. He didn't get the shots bc of ballhog Anthony. He exploded after the trade.Nene has definitely been elite for the past several seasons until this one. No argument. Over
2/7/2012 8:51:33 AM
Its becoming increasingly apparent that user face, infamous poster and a man whom many here believe to be a troll, is no longer satiated by merely discussing the relevant facts. You've done more than enough filibustering on the current issue. Please admit you have an inflated opinion of Mr. Hilario so we can all move on. Further discussion will stagnate until this matter has been resolved.
2/7/2012 9:07:04 AM
ITT, we learn that "exploding" mean averaging an extra one point a game. Carry on...
2/7/2012 9:09:01 AM
You put up monster numbers you are elite. If a >.20 wp48 isn't elite then only Lebron and a few others in the league are good players
2/7/2012 9:12:44 AM
Also he puts up those numbers by often playing center even though he's more of a pf. If you paired him with a center he'd destroy most of the pf in the league But this year he isn't very good. Obviously still better than amare tho who is awful this year
2/7/2012 9:21:48 AM
Even if Nene was a next level talent (the prospects of which I still highly doubt), he would never have the opportunity to prove himself in George Karl's system. Since the trade, he plays 8-10 guys regular minutes, relying on the superior depth and conditioning to wear down the opponent, especially at home. No one player is irreplaceable in that system, save for maybe Lawson, because he's the engine that makes it go. I'd like to see Nene in a more traditional system where he might have a shot at approaching face's numbers, but even then, he's a defensive liability who's ceiling is still a slightly better Amare, not a top five player in the league. Not even really close, in my opinion.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/590595-nba-trade-rumors-would-nene-hilario-to-the-miami-heat-make-them-title-favoritesi thought face might be writing for bleacherreport until i read this part
2/7/2012 10:30:09 AM
Oh I don't think he's a top five player in the league...The entire discussion revolved around him being better than Anthony and amare. That's not something anyone should disagree with let alone get up in arms about [Edited on February 7, 2012 at 4:18 PM. Reason : a]
2/7/2012 4:17:19 PM
Well, in that case, I agree with you. Carry on.
2/7/2012 4:26:47 PM
its difficult to compare Nene and Carmelo because they're completely different types of players...in fact I think you're confusing the "Nene vs. Amare" argument with your "Carmelo isn't a superstar" argumenthere are some career stats for Nene and Amare...I fail to see how Nene is leaps and bounds ahead of Amare, let alone better at all

Its about efficiency, Twist. Anyone can score if they take enough shots. Nene scores "only" 15 a game, yes. He led the entire league in TS% the two years before last, and only finished behind Chandler last year because all Chander did was dunk. Amare shoots for the sake of shooting. Nene only shoots when he has a high percentage opportunity, which is infinitely more valuable than all the contested 18 footers STAT jacks up.[Edited on February 7, 2012 at 5:28 PM. Reason : 15 points on 8.5 shots a game vs 19 on 15 shots...do the math]
