that shot was nowhere close to going incould tell as soon as he shot itno idea how anyone could think it was going in
11/16/2011 8:54:34 PM
We're like a bunch of whipped dogs here manEvery halfcourt shot looks like it's going in
11/16/2011 8:55:29 PM
11/16/2011 8:55:37 PM
I couldn't see it. My feed froze after it bounced off the dude's foot.

^^^^ You're obviously new to NCState bball [Edited on November 16, 2011 at 8:56 PM. Reason : .]

Someone needs to post that picture of the vanishing Herb ghost
11/16/2011 8:56:54 PM
big difference in being afraid about the shot before he takes it and seeing the shot and knowing it doesn't have a chance[Edited on November 16, 2011 at 8:57 PM. Reason : new to NC State basketball? get out of here with that weak shit]
11/16/2011 8:56:56 PM
i'm a believer.
11/16/2011 8:57:06 PM
First road game against Vandy without? Wood is going to be the true testNo expectations there
11/16/2011 8:57:20 PM
we're now, what, 2-5 all time vs Princeton? HOORAY!
11/16/2011 8:57:42 PM
11/16/2011 8:57:57 PM
Yeah, losing Wood and having to get readjusted to playing with Calvin is going to be rough on the team.Plus Vandy is probably still pissed about the early loss and wants to prove that they should be higher than #20.
11/16/2011 8:59:26 PM
its ok for thought bubbles to go in front of the ref dweedle
11/16/2011 9:00:06 PM
I'm on the wagon. This shit's great while it lasts.
11/16/2011 9:00:17 PM
yeah, now we need to hope wood will be back asap
11/16/2011 9:00:20 PM
Wagner must be great
11/16/2011 9:02:09 PM
a win is a win and I am damn happy to have Gottfried and not Sid and there are obvious reasons to be extremely excited about the program, but that game wasn't anything to get too excited over
11/16/2011 9:02:46 PM
Great coaching tonight. Seriously....if this was last year and we lost Scott Wood and seemingly couldn't find a way to slow down that shooting performance in the 1st half, we would have tanked it.Coach Gottfried used Tyler Harris really nicely, and I think he's going to be a huge contributor for us.Very pleased to see us come out with the win. Also, a nice confidence boost for AJ sinking that 3. Great drive to the bucket at 3:45 as well...and don't look now, but Vandy is starting to look like a legit center!!! He altered several shots, and even ran the floor for a great slam.Good stuff tonight, Wolfpack.
11/16/2011 9:03:57 PM
I just edited a pre-existing, although somewhat racist picture of Alonzo Mourning and his thought bubble
11/16/2011 9:04:10 PM
I'd just assume not play Princeton anymore.
11/16/2011 9:10:29 PM
They were hitting every damn 3 they took it seemed. They were also playing good defense. It didn't help that we lost Wood or that Brown had the flu. I think the reason they lost to Wagner was because it was their coach's very first game ever as a head coach. How many head coaches win their first game ever, particularly when they don't have better talent? I think he'll be a pretty good coach based on what I saw to night and who he's been mentored by.While pretty much everyone here hates the Princeton offense, it is tough to prepare for on short notice (see UCLA game in the 1996 tournament).
11/16/2011 9:12:29 PM
Postgame interview with Gott, he said Wood had a "pretty bad sprain". God I hope it is not a high ankle sprain. I hope Brown gets better too.
11/16/2011 9:13:11 PM
we won three games tonight as a team. 1) we came back from a pretty big first half deficit2) we took a lead while they were shooting lights out3) we held them off from coming back and held onto a lead for 4 or so minutesi like this team. they have awesome chemistry, and make you play a full 40 minute game. no slacking off for any huge stretches.then even better is that they know how to play a great 30 seconds of defense, and make the other team work real hard for points.
11/16/2011 9:13:55 PM
11/16/2011 9:15:31 PM
Whatever happened to the coach they had last year? I wasn't aware that he had left.
11/16/2011 9:15:36 PM
lorenzo brown played great considering he had the flu yesterday and turned his ankle last week or whatever. man i'm stoked about this year. COMMENCE THE LETDOWN WITH VANDY
11/16/2011 9:16:43 PM
I swear we need to put our players in bubble wrap with how much we are always injured.
11/16/2011 9:17:54 PM
They took X-rays in the locker room. No fractures.
11/16/2011 9:18:43 PM
football injury bug passed to basketball. PWNT
11/16/2011 9:24:19 PM
^not necessarily good news when talking sprain vs breakalthough sports med has come a long way since 10 yrs ago when it seemed sprains could keep guys out 6 weeks...
11/16/2011 9:25:45 PM
We probably won't see Wood for a few weeks I'd bet.
11/16/2011 9:26:14 PM
11/16/2011 9:26:19 PM
Yeah, the only reason we even had a chance to win is because guys hustled all game. They need to get the passes a little crisper though.
11/16/2011 9:27:07 PM
http://www.gopack.com/sports/m-baskbl/recaps/122210aaa.htmlof course they aren't completely analogous, but the point is we won a game like this last yearthis is in no way defending Sid, just trying to calm things down a bit[Edited on November 16, 2011 at 9:29 PM. Reason : Lo Brown is a golden god]
11/16/2011 9:28:49 PM
I just love State basketball too muchIt's still real to me dammit
a massive thank you to both lorenzo brown and princeton's inability to make a layup
11/16/2011 9:29:01 PM
There's a comparison to be drawn to a game like Delaware State, sure. But Delaware State is a team that no high-major should ever lose to; with our talent they shouldn't have even been in that game. Princeton is gonna sneak up on a couple teams every year and pull games out where they're they're at a talent disadvantage. No one really looks down on you for losing a close game to Princeton early in the season -- especially when they shoot like they did in the first.
11/16/2011 9:31:08 PM
didnt princeton win the IVY league and make the tourney last year?
11/16/2011 9:31:22 PM
11/16/2011 9:33:21 PM
^^they lost to kentucky by 2 last year in the tournament
11/16/2011 9:34:13 PM
11/16/2011 9:34:16 PM
First game I saw in person. A few thoughts:- Team defense was very good in the second half. Abysmal in the first half. And has nothing to do with the shots falling for Princeton in the first half. Any school could shoot 60% from 3 against that defense.- Very pleasantly surprised by Vandendberg's improvement. His footwork is A LOT better.- Painter still is way too soft around the hoop, but tough to criticize him given the game.- Alex Johnson wasn't very good in any phase tonight. Not sure where he fits in on an ACC roster.- Gottfried seems like he's a pretty good coach, but he can't get a T in that situation. He just can't...
11/16/2011 9:35:02 PM
save me from reading the thread: anyone know anything about wood at this point?
11/16/2011 9:37:35 PM
- the refs were loose butthole
11/16/2011 9:37:45 PM
"pretty bad" sprain, per Gottfried
11/16/2011 9:37:48 PM
- Howell still can't finish better than I can
11/16/2011 9:38:13 PM
Didn't watch the game. Looking at the box score, they put up 11 more shots than us. How the hell did that happen?Perimeter defense still looks like shit, as it has all year and all of Sid Lowe's years.
11/16/2011 9:39:20 PM
11/16/2011 9:39:47 PM
princeton owns us .. this was a big winwe are now 2-5 in the historical series between the two teams fucking deshawn painter knocking down that winning shot with confidence was a statement to how far he has came since last year. i loved the way this team fought hard esp. after wood went down.]
11/16/2011 9:39:49 PM
I don't think he was looking to get a T there, just trying to work the officials some. He may still be a little rusty there, so he may have overstepped the line, when normally he wouldn't.The Wood injury hurt us in the 1st half big time. Howell missing 3 or 4 point blank shots in a row didn't help either.
