Man, these students have a serious lack of perspective.]

On ESPN they just said that found a few people (at Penn St) who were in support of the decision to fire Paterno, but they refused to do an interview because they were afraid of getting beat up.
11/9/2011 11:39:33 PM
anybody who doesn't think that firing JoePa was the right thing to do needs to seriously reevaluate their worth as a human beingthere is nothing hard about this. he was told what happened. he was right within the law. all that prevents him from is going to jail. he was morally wrong in washing his hands of this situation and allowing a predator to continue to be free. there is no reason why he should be protected from this.[Edited on November 9, 2011 at 11:43 PM. As someone else pointed out, the fact that Joe Paterno is a bigger story than Sandusky is disappointing.[Edited on November 9, 2011 at 11:48 PM. Reason : ]

i don't think anyone is saying that what joe did is worse. but yeah, the legendary coach having his career ended by getting fired is a big story. it's pretty shocking.i mean if the president covered up a murder for an old friend of his, you're damn sure that would be the lede, not the murder itself[Edited on November 9, 2011 at 11:46 PM. 11/9/2011 11:45:13 PM
Yeah I know...Paterno getting fired is definitely a huge story (especially given the circumstances). But it's unfortunate that I've been watching ESPN for more than 5 minutes and haven't heard Sandusky's name mentioned yet.
11/9/2011 11:46:29 PM
The Sandusky story is over, dude was arrested, nothing to talk about until trial. The Paterno, et. al story is about the cover up, which is still unfolding.[Edited on November 9, 2011 at 11:48 PM. Reason : .]

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE NBA LABOR NEGOTIATIONS
11/9/2011 11:58:49 PM
^^ Yeah, but if you have a beef with Paterno being fired, you need to take it up with Sandusky, not the Board of Trustees.* "you" referring to those in general, not Ernie. Sandusky is completely relevant to what's going on.]
11/10/2011 12:03:12 AM
Yeah, but here's a completely unrelated point to the one you made, Ernie

How does Mike McQueary still have a job? Am i the only one who see's how amazing that is?
11/10/2011 1:19:07 AM
Yeah, kinda surprised at the lack of ire directed towards McQueary. Not completely sure what I'd do if I actually walked in on a man raping a kid, but going back to my office and calling my dad probably wouldn't be high on the list.

I can't believe Sandusky is free on $100k bail. He must be at some undisclosed location because I think there's a pretty high risk of vigilante justice.

i honestly am not sure how much worse this can get :-/
11/10/2011 7:22:51 AM
Worse = more people involved in the molesting.
11/10/2011 7:38:11 AM
He did it while wearing a UNC shirt

^ that would be awesome.

11/10/2011 8:01:44 AM
I wonder how these kids would feel if their younger brother had been molested and paterno turned his head.
11/10/2011 8:02:10 AM
I'm thinking PSU almost has to leave the family for their next coaching hire. I'm a Miami fan, so of course I'm biased, but I don't think they can bring in a Joe Pa disciple.
11/10/2011 8:06:20 AM
^Golden was promoted when Sandusky was relieved of his duties, not sure they can hire anyone associated with that time period/last 9 years.http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2011/11/mike-mcqueary-joe-paterno-penn-state-practice/1Mcqueary isn't a small guy, no reason he should have left the kid there. Here is a letter Mcqueary had been sending to recruitshttp://www.businessinsider.com/mike-mcqueary-recruiting-letter-2011-11[Edited on November 10, 2011 at 8:14 AM. ^I believe his playing height/weight was 6'4" 213 lbs, so I can't imagine he was smaller at age 28. Unless you are referring to small fish on staff, as in he didn't act out of fear for his job/career which I could see, but still is no excuse in my opinion. I don't think he would have had any problem finding work if he stopped a child from being raped, more like a hero.[Edited on November 10, 2011 at 8:38 AM. Reason : .]
11/10/2011 8:37:21 AM
completely agree that it's not an excuse.and yes, i was speaking to his position on staff, not his stature.
11/10/2011 8:40:27 AM
^haha I apologize, I read it as "smallish" instead of "small fish"....dang f gets me every time.
11/10/2011 8:41:58 AM
McQueary wasnt just a normal graduate assistant/waterboy type person though. He was a former starting quarterback who transitioned to the staff after he graduated. When I first heard that a grad assistant saw the Sandusky acts I was thinking it was just a clipboard carrying idiot who would never stand up to the big bad D. Coordinator. But after finding out who it actually was changed my opinion a lot.
