I can think of a couple.

The Pit, Cook-Out, Bojangles and Gumby's (especially during the sanitation grade)

But it's been a long 11 years.

I'm sure I'm missing a ton.

If keeping out a certain type of customer will help entice more of of the other type of customers, then they aren't ignoring profit by pricing.

I will be trying this place.

^ exactly what kind of people are the scourge of the downtown area that a restaurant actually builds their business model around keeping these people far away from their food?

Do you see a lot of bums eating at the "cheaper" establishments that sell their chicken for $5 instead of the $7 at Chicken & Honey?

we had chicken & waffles today. saturday & sunday from 10-4, friday & saturday from 10pm-12 (I think?)

the waffles are really good - big, belgian style

they're still working on perfecting the chicken biscuit, probably will be available this week sometime. and no, apparently you're not allowed to order a mix of dark and white meat. I don't know why. i don't make the rules.

I went tonight. Very happy with my meal. I'm convinced that my friend, my girlfriend and I were seated next to some tdubbers at the communal table, but maybe not.

Between me and my girlfriend we had: two quarters dark white, mac'n'cheese, tomato slices, a quart of tea, and a chocolate chess pie for $32.00. We were both very full, which came as a surprise to me since most tdubbers were saying you needed two sides to be full.

Not going to lie, it wasn't some kind of orgasmic out-of-body experience, but it's was very good, had the feeling of being homemade but better in a subtle way. Good example was the honey in the chicken: absolutely made the fried chicken. I had no idea I'd love the honey that much. The texture of the skin itself was not quite what I expected, but I enjoyed it so I won't be too picky. My peers thought the skin was too crunchy, not crispy but crunchy, like chewing bread, but I loved it. Then again, I fucking grind through all the odd pieces of the chicken like it's nothing. The meat itself was moist but the flavoring didn't get in there as much for me as I would have expected.

The pimento mac-and-cheese custard was incredibly cheesy, almost too cheesy for me. You could definitely tell it was aged cheddar. And it was very much like a custard as is named, because it wasn't greasy at all (surprising for using cheddar) and had a smoothness that I don't normally associate with baked m&c. Good portions--friend thought it was small, but it filled me up, wouldn't have wanted more cheese. The tomato slices were big and delicious, not much more to say there. The tea was... well, it was tea. I loved that it was served in Ball jars, because I'm a Ball descendant. The simple syrup on the side worked, but we ran out quickly and had to get more--plus the ice melts pretty quickly. I had a bite of the biscuits and they were good, but honestly they could have more butter--but I liked that they were a little firmer and the honey goes great with them.

The chocolate chess pie with cinnamon banana was amazing, I was absolutely surprised after reading on here that people thought it wasn't chocolaty enough. This is a dessert I grew up eating in my household and not only was it better than my momma's, but it finished the meal on such a great note. The banana was a little--wilted, maybe, even for the way it was cooked (makes it not look very appealing), but it was great. The only complaint with it was that the crust was too hard in our piece, and took quite a bit of stabbing to break apart. Still delicious.

Fuck communal dining, though. We were seated next to a group that was nice, especially this dude (who I swear is a tdubber), but once the meal got there we stopped talking for the most part. We got boxed in by another group of people not eating, just drinking, and the were obnoxious and weird about space. I would probably have preferred a side table for our group of three, but they weren't available so whatever.

Definitely going back for a second meal sometime, if I can it'll be late at night or during brunch for chicken and waffles. Our server was great if not a bit distracted by the rest of the table (didn't really get any ice refills). I'll get a beer next time (going to the Saucer tonight so I held back), and I'll try some white meat and other sides. We were all definitely happy. Oh, and I liked the space--agree that the extra space between the bar and the table is necessary. Not sure I like the red window frames against the blue girders on the ceiling. Floors are nice and the bar looks great. Can't wait for Chuck's and Fox's.

Yeah I could tell none of you guys were particularly happy about the communal table, seems like it would be really annoying to keep track of, and it's obviously not easy to get to glasses to refill them. The communal table would be a little nicer if you had just a bit more elbow room. Granted it doesn't help that I'm a fat mofo (I was the fat dude in the striped polo if that wasn't obvious from my post).

Still great service though tommy, they sling that food out so fucking fast, I had no idea we'd get it that soon. The ice wasn't a big problem, but I was struggling with one napkin before you brought us some extras---if there was more space at the tables I'd say put some napkin holders out or something, cuz with that honey chicken seems like it goes fast.

Nice hostess, good service, good food, I'll be back. I'm wondering how the turn-out is after 10PM because it was decently crowded when we were there at 7:30PM (although we still got seated immediately so there's that).

Yeah the seating is tight at the communal table. I like the idea of that table but when we got there the hostess tried to sit us right on top of another group at the table. I would have literally been touching the woman beside me, even though there was plenty of space at that table. I understand you try to fill to maximize space for the dinner rush that would be starting later that evening but they really should think about just taking out one or two stools on each side of the table to make everyone more comfortable.

And what is with the ice melting so fast in the tea? The jars seemed the same temp as any other restaurant glass. Maybe something to do with the surface area of the ice cubes compared to other restaurants?

I went today. Chicken was good but nothing spectacular, mac and cheese was alright, but I loved the potato salad. I probably got too hyped about the place because of all the raves on TWW. If I go back I'll try some dessert.

Went there the other night. After having a terrible experience at Dos Taquitos Centro (basically, never getting seated after an hour and change), we decided to head over to Beasley's. Enjoyed the chicken and the biscuits. Also got the Chocolate Cake, which was good -- but it came with walnuts on top which hurt the cake more than helped it.

Also, I can't say enough about how great our hostess and our waitress were.

Finally ate here. Damn good, still think it's a bit pricey, though. Could eat the mac and cheese by the bucket. Steve Shelley was in there. And then John Vanderslice walked in, stole some napkins, and walked out.

still haven't tried Chuck's, but heard a lot of mixed reviews.

one friend had a fucking chunk of bone in the middle of his.

i'm not too picky, so i'll probably go and have the southern or one of her other choices and just see what happens, but i've heard numerous people say they won't go back b/c there's no "build your own" type of option.

i still look forward to trying it, regardless.

I saw the full burger menu somewhere and it just didn't interest me that much. Tribeca Tavern I always have trouble deciding which to choose. With Chuck's menu I'd have a hard time choosing one that interests me. Maybe that beet one.

Love Chuck's menu, way more interesting selection than other burger menus in the area.

Then again I think the TWW love for Tribeca Tavern is exaggerated.
