RT @CheckersHockey: Checkers to play in Western Conference in 2011-12. wat
7/5/2011 12:09:21 PM
Checkers moved to the Western Conference in the AHLhttp://gocheckers.com/news/more/index.html?article_id=498Also, I know it doesn't mean anything right now, but it is interesting how they currently have the lines on the Hurricanes website...doesn't seem like it would be too far off.Skinner/Staal/StewartJokinen/Ruutu/DalpePonikarovsky/Sutter/LaRoseTlusty/Brent/Dwyerhttp://hurricanes.nhl.com/club/depthchart.htm?dcid=12
7/5/2011 12:09:38 PM
I'm not saying this to knock LaRose, but he'd (and the team) be so much better if he played on the 4th line and PK time. For one, since Mo has a hard-on for Chad, he'd probably use the fucking 4th line more than 5 shifts a game. This would make it so he doesn't have to skate Staal's line into the ground. Also, who didn't love the energy and GRIT of Adams-Adams-LaRose. That was a solid 4th line, and they had plenty of energy left to work on the PK.Switch Tlusty and Chadwick and that gives 3 lines with some scoring potential and one good fourth line. out of nowhere canes sign tomas kaberle?! 3yr/$12.75 million![Edited on July 5, 2011 at 4:13 PM. Reason : jr must have thought it was frank]

FFFFFUUUUUUUUUU
7/5/2011 4:14:31 PM
7/5/2011 4:16:52 PM
4.25 was exactly what he's been making for the last 4 years. I don't know what to feel about all of this...hope he can simply play up to expectations.
7/5/2011 4:27:55 PM
We got better today.
7/5/2011 4:31:05 PM
and corvo to boston for a 4th JR making moves
7/5/2011 4:33:37 PM
I figured we were overloaded at D with Kaberle coming in..knew someone would be going out. Almost thought it would've been Gleason. Kinda thought we could get more than a 4th for Corvo, but oh well.
7/5/2011 4:34:59 PM
Yeah I think Corvo was worth more than a 4th...
7/5/2011 4:39:33 PM
Guess we couldn't keep Kaberle and Corvo?
7/5/2011 4:39:37 PM
Also thought Corvo would fetch more than a 4th. But Kaberle is an upgraded Corvo, so I'm fine with it now.
7/5/2011 4:39:56 PM
Well, how many puck moving D-men do we need..? Had a glut of them last year..needed to thin the ranks.Any guesses what the lines will be?Gleason/KaberlePitkanen/AllenMcbain/(Joslin/Harrison)Would love to see a stay at home guy paired up with a puck mover, but I know it's never that easy.
7/5/2011 4:42:29 PM
HELL YESWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhopefully he shakes off his struggles in boston and helps get our powerplay back on track......but Joni AND Kaberle? Really?![Edited on July 5, 2011 at 4:50 PM. Reason : apparently former Maple Leafs love the mo.][Edited on July 5, 2011 at 4:51 PM. Reason : I think JR and PK got into my stash]
7/5/2011 4:49:49 PM
We are becoming Toronto South.I'm so ready for some new blood in management and coaching.(Although I agree about Kaberle being an upgraded Corvo, I think we could have gotten more than a 4th rounder)
7/5/2011 4:54:10 PM
Evidently corvo "softly" asked to be dealt. Must've been all after Cole left
7/5/2011 4:54:49 PM
^^ ....[Edited on July 5, 2011 at 4:59 PM. Reason : who gives a shit about getting a 4th for corvo? We are a better team now. ]
7/5/2011 4:58:16 PM
what a fucking string of good signings this offseason so far. Granted, some might not work, but on paper I'm a fan!
7/5/2011 4:58:22 PM
*heading to canes fb page for the lulz*
7/5/2011 5:00:36 PM
^^this
7/5/2011 5:10:15 PM
we upgraded the D as far as personnel goes....but I'm really, really hoping that Dave Lewis is going to make a big difference with the group. I'm pretty excited about it, actually.
7/5/2011 5:13:34 PM
7/5/2011 5:13:47 PM
my comment on the fb page probably won't last long
7/5/2011 5:21:14 PM
I like the contract length too.
7/5/2011 5:29:40 PM
WAT.
7/5/2011 5:41:26 PM
So where does this put us in relation to the salary floor? Do we still need to pick up one more person, or should we be set?
7/5/2011 5:44:36 PM
^We still have Joslin and Sutter to re-sign
7/5/2011 5:45:13 PM
$9.99 per game season tickets FTMFW
7/5/2011 5:59:43 PM
Wow. Even with Sutter and Joslin to resign I'd like to see either a 2nd/3rd line center traded for or someone like Hemsky to help balance out the lines a bit more, but our PP should be getting a boost next year either way. I really liked Corvo (I thought we'd have gotten more than a 4th also), but he was good friends with Cole and as bad as our PP was last year trying something different sure as hell can't hurt.
7/5/2011 6:11:12 PM
Facebook brings the lolz. I love this signing, but didn't think it was possible with Pitkanen signed too, so this should hopefully help with our Power Play woes. Now if only we can package Boychuk and some picks and another one of the Checkers or Joslin for a legit top 6 winger, then we are totally set.Kaberle completely changes the defense over Corvo. I liked Corvo, but he was one mistake away from shattering each time he regained his confidence. I'll take Tomas "I'll never shot, but I'm a great passer" Kaberle over Joe "I'll hit the net sometimes, but more than likely the boards" Corvo.
7/5/2011 6:17:46 PM
I wish we wouldve traded Corvo somewhere besides Boston and I was always a fan of Corvo, but he is already 34 and will be a free agent after next season, so I'm glad we made this move now and got something for him (even though a 4th rounder is a pretty low price)I like all these moves that we are making
7/5/2011 6:24:20 PM
^^ longest nicknames ever....[Edited on July 5, 2011 at 6:24 PM. Reason : 2]
7/5/2011 6:24:37 PM
^^^I think this is the year Boychuk sticks with the team. He certainly had his flashes last year-- I really enjoyed seeing him, Staal, and Cole on a line together. He'll have to really want it though, he's way too small not to be busting his ass every second he's out there. But you are definitely right, if we did want to get a legit winger via trade, we'd have to give up some of the babies. Sounds like Dalpe is the most untouchable of the kids at this point (and I'd hate for Dammit100 to lose out on his 22 jersey )]
7/5/2011 6:28:07 PM
There's not gonna be a trade for a guy like Hemsky now, unless we have someone with significant salary going the other way. After signing Sutter and Joslin we are going to be dead on the self imposed $50 million budget, so adding a $5 million contract like Hemsky would be out of the question. Any future trades will almost certainly have to be salary neutral.
