Ok troll keep it up! Do you agree with your little buddy adder that the RBC Center hurts our team as well???
12/21/2010 1:01:15 PM
So far this season, the MVP of our team is Scott Wood. If we had more inside presence in these last few games, Wood would be even more lethal than he already is. With Tracy back, we will have that presence, and I expect to see high scoring games. We shouldn't expect the freshmen to blossom in front of our eyes when we have zero inside game.

So you finally have come to realize that the RBC Center doesn't affect our shooting?
12/21/2010 1:25:04 PM
I don't think it's unreasonable to think that our team has a harder time heating up on our home court consistently when we only play there once or twice a week for a few months between December and March compared to other NCAA teams who play on their home courts once or twice a week and get to practice there several times a week as well.I've never seen us shoot that poorly at Reynolds, but of course that's not an entirely strong argument because we play cupcakes there. It's worth considering, though
12/21/2010 1:28:51 PM
We practice at Dail dumbass.....just like most colleges at a PRACTICE center. You have the sports knowledge of a high schooler.
12/21/2010 1:32:59 PM
^^^ So did a quick check on last years ACC games (figured the best way to remove cupcake bias) and statistically we were a better 3pt shooting team (best way to judge pure shooting and familiarity with an arena) away from the RBC center. Home ACC games we averaged 30% away games we averaged 33%.Interesting isn't it?[Edited on December 21, 2010 at 1:36 PM. Reason : ^]

^Good job attacking the logical premise of the argument. If you have factual support for your statement please post it.

I've heard several players on teams over the years say they like the rims at Reynolds much better than at the RBC. That in it self tells me theres some kind of psychological advantage to Reynolds. Anyone whose played sports knows that most of the game is played between the ears. Reynolds was one of the toughest environments for visitors in the nation and thats something the RBC will never be...even at half capacity, Reynolds is louder than the RBC. The atmosphere and nostalgic feeling is a motivator.....trust me, playing on the same court as David Thompson and the rest of the state greats is a mental boost in itself for players.

^^I think you're greatly overestimating the amount of kids these days who even know who David Thompson even is, much less care about playing in the same building as him.As for the baskets, if there was that much of a problem with them...it isn't really a hassle for them to bring in ones that they like. They're portable baskets...either it doesn't matter enough, or they just don't care.
12/21/2010 9:15:00 PM
I don't care either wayBut lol @ boozie sourcing some random-ass blog from 2003

the freshmen were -18 years old when Thompson won the NCAAs

it's not like we NEVER practice at the RBC Center. they've had several practices in there.like they (it appears) did today:

People, Scott Wood and Lorenzo Brown are doing some things here that haven't been done in a while. They are some legit talent. Please stop shitting your pants.

^^^ummmm in 2002-3, State finished 3rd in the conference and started a string of consecutive years to the NCAA.

Maybe my eyes are going bad... but it doesn't looks like there's anyone only one guy on that court.also, I don't want to go back to playing at Reynolds (unless we can get a rich benefactor to overhaul the shit out of it, and build another parking deck nearby), I want more access to the RBC center for practice. I think, maybe, it would be interesting to look into the idea of moving the court pieces back and forth to the practice facility, and setting up the game floor and baskets there. It might be a doable middle ground to let the players play on the floor and with the baskets they use at home, without taking away from the other RBC events that happen over there[Edited on December 22, 2010 at 11:05 AM. The best thing that could happen is for the city to build a downtown arena to host the Hurricanes and big-time concerts/events.State could take over the RBC completely. The only things it would be used for would be basketball and concerts, maybe some non-revenue sports from time to time.
12/22/2010 7:52:50 PM
the RBC center should have been built downtown in the first place. It would be closer to campus than where it is now.
12/22/2010 9:49:49 PM
per se. it's latin. and i have no input on the "loudest debate", but it would be nice if the RBC was downtown. traffic and parking would be a nightmare, but public transportation could alleviate some of that. but i am glad cf is where it is.
