1/9/2011 4:06:05 PM
this looks like a crazy complicated storm
1/9/2011 5:13:49 PM
Where's the experts at? I gotta be up early to decide if it's worth going in!
1/9/2011 10:31:11 PM
So when's this dog and pony show supposed to start?
1/9/2011 11:01:06 PM
tomorrow morning across southern NC, spreading northward through the morning into the afternoon.all hell breaks loose late tomorrow afternoon into the evening.
1/9/2011 11:02:26 PM
it will be interesting to see just how soon precip starts falling in wake county.. areas in the southern part of the county near fuquay could end up seeing it almost an hour before folks in the far northern part of the countymost outputs i look at have the precip starting to fall at the surface in wake anywhere from 2PM until 6PM at night
1/10/2011 5:48:38 AM
wow. the weather channel is fucking horrible. said snow would being at 1 AM. LOL fail.yeh, yeh, I know you weathertards. TWC sucks. But whatever, I normally use it to see temp & if it's going to rain or not... which is good enough for me.
1/10/2011 7:56:05 AM
1/10/2011 8:04:04 AM
^^Weather.com hourly forecast said a chance of snow beginning early in the morning (I recall ~30% around 6AM maybe earlier), but not more than 50% until 1 PM. Not sure what you looked at, they usually give a "chance" of snow starting earlier.

1/10/2011 8:26:15 AM
my mom called me from Pembroke this morning and said when she woke up at 6am nothing then at 7:30 she couldn't believe it. I think the weather people missed it. They said the snow wouldnt get there until 10am and be 1-3 inches. By the picture I got there was at least 3 inches on the ground by 8am
1/10/2011 8:58:54 AM
Go away high pressure front so we can get in on some of this snow
1/10/2011 9:12:08 AM
why is there always a fucking weather force field over rocky mount???
1/10/2011 9:17:49 AM
^^^from lumberton
1/10/2011 9:21:39 AM
1/10/2011 9:34:53 AM
just said the same damn thing when i looked at the radar.
1/10/2011 9:36:54 AM
from looking at the radar loop the northern part if the system broke up just before getting to raleigh. the majority of the precip is to our south and the storm is tracking more east then north east. is this thing supposed to turn to a more north/north-east track? if not we may not get shit.
1/10/2011 9:40:01 AM
we have 3-4 inches in Fayetteville and it's still coming down. Funny thing is, it's usually the opposite. Usually the snow stays just north of us.
1/10/2011 9:42:07 AM
1/10/2011 9:54:47 AM
same thing happens in raleigh most of the time....its aggravating!
1/10/2011 10:01:41 AM
My mom just emailed me a pic from their house in south Charlotte...4" already.Dammit! So jealous
1/10/2011 10:20:46 AM
haha. yeah mine is bragging about the snow in wilmington. I'm gonna punch her when I see her
1/10/2011 10:27:23 AM
^^^now that i think about it, when i lived around crabtree storms bisected and passed me there too. maybe it's my fault ^my parents are sending me pics from emerald isle. it's so weird seeing snow there.
1/10/2011 10:32:46 AM
6" in Greenville SC
1/10/2011 10:41:48 AM
^^ hahaha...damn!!
1/10/2011 10:57:40 AM
the precip field is moving toward raleigh...plus when this thing interacts with coastal moisture later today/tonight, we'll get more in this area
1/10/2011 12:54:01 PM
^ this. You can already see more moisture in filling in as the low starts moving from what I can gather. But unfortunately we'll start seeing that transition line creep North as well... gonna be a fucking disaster in RDU around rush hour tonight.
1/10/2011 1:29:10 PM
I say that with optimism, but the more i look at the regional radar returns, the less i think we will get.the returns in SC are weak and most of the heavier precip is going south and east of us... i don't know what they predict the radar will look like later tonight/tonight... maybe this is why they said we wouldn't get much until mid/late afternoon and evening...
1/10/2011 1:34:25 PM
There's more moisture coming as the main low hasn't even formed off the NC coast yet today.
1/10/2011 1:43:44 PM
yeah, that's what i was hoping...what sites do you guys mainly look at for model output and ir/vis/wv imagery?i used to have access to garp but lost that a while back
1/10/2011 1:46:58 PM
UCARweather.govNCEP NOAAAllan Huffman's page is really good for model output. But the problem with ^^that is the low will form too close to NC, pushing mid-level warming farther inland than you want. That's why we're ending up with this freezing rain/sleet/rain/snow crap.[Edited on January 10, 2011 at 1:49 PM. Reason : ]
1/10/2011 1:48:09 PM
Radar is just not sticking together right over Raleigh -- whenever it looks like the precip might come it breaks up and splits downtown.
1/10/2011 2:03:48 PM
mike maze just cut in with a 2pm update and said the system is weakening and that doesn't bode well for the triangle. dew point still 9 at rdu...geez this is looking more and more like we aren't going to get anything here in wake
1/10/2011 2:05:04 PM
lol. from a golo comment on the WRAL weather story
1/10/2011 2:19:39 PM
^^^ i noticed that too. looks like a fairly significant line of precip is coming our way now though. should start seeing something in the next 30 mins.
1/10/2011 2:41:32 PM
It's been 30 minutes and there's nothing round here
1/10/2011 3:01:07 PM
saw a couple of flakes outside in chapel hill.. hopefully this storm will get its ish together
1/10/2011 3:01:28 PM
^Yea, CH got like 40-50 flakes. It was nothing to get excited about. Over now.
1/10/2011 3:02:33 PM
Looks like the precip is finally starting to push a little closer
1/10/2011 3:04:04 PM
snowing steady in fuquay! greg fishel just pointed at this area of the county and said nothing is falling.. it is coming down pretty steady as i type this
1/10/2011 3:04:32 PM
i meant like 5 minutes ago brah
1/10/2011 3:07:45 PM
snowflakes in Cary
1/10/2011 3:10:15 PM
we've got a dusting in fuquay already... it is coming down big time now
1/10/2011 3:18:15 PM
seems like this line of precip is moving slower then i expected. still nothing here in NW Raleigh. This could be good though because if it moves slow we'll get more accumulation.
1/10/2011 3:19:19 PM
looks like it will quit for a while after this bandthe radar to the south of us looks pathetic
1/10/2011 3:28:59 PM
not shit near campus
1/10/2011 3:35:16 PM
snowing outside my window - office is on 40 right near the airport.
1/10/2011 3:36:34 PM
