why the hell are people still drafting Sidney RiceI don't like holding onto players who are gonna miss half the season since football doesnt usually have DL/IR spots[Edited on August 31, 2010 at 8:41 PM. Reason : nm, didnt see it said he was available, not a bench player]
8/31/2010 8:40:30 PM
^I agree with the Sidney Rice thing. I'd hold off. Fred Jackson or Manningham might be a better option at this pointSo I waited a long time to draft a QB and ended up with Eli Manning and Jay Cutler. I'm hoping Eli will have a good year like he did last year. Do you think I should try to trade another guy in my league who has Kolb on the bench just for insurance?[Edited on August 31, 2010 at 10:05 PM. Reason : .]
8/31/2010 10:04:37 PM
I don't think Kolb is a significant upgrade over either Eli or Cutler...I'd just pick which QB you play on a week to week basis based on matchup...unless you can get either a Rodgers/Brees/Peyton/Brady/Romo/Schaub

i am in love with my team, McCluster is my official sleeper pick of the entire 2011 season just based on where he is now and where i think people will recognize him at the end of the seasonany feedback on who should be starting over one another? Eli vs McNabb?

But I'm more than happy to have him on my team.^It's hard to say, based on McNabb's health, plus the fact that he is playing for the Redskins. I'm not big on Eli either, but I'd probably go with Eli most of the time.[Edited on August 31, 2010 at 11:52 PM. Reason : ^]

I drafted 7th in an 8 team league. Yes, an 8 team league. But it's a money league. ^^^ very good team....looks solid. ^ how did you get AP and MJD? Thats pretty impressive and/or lucky. QB is a weak spot IMO. For an 8 team league Im surprised you didnt get a higher rated QB (but then again you got two #1 RB sooo). Did the others take QBs with their first picks? ^^ and please include an invite for me next year. I'd REALLY appreciate it. I have no doubt that McCluster will be decent, but it does seem like people are starting to overvalue him a little bit. He's basically sight-unseen. Interesting in Yahoo that he's got dual roles at RB and WR. What a difference that could make in 12+ man leagues where you are thin at either spot.Next topic...Rashard Mendenhall. ^ 100% agree. I love others give advice and I certainly encourage sound arguments either way.I never intended, nor do I want to be the only one giving advice. I love fantasy football. I have for years, but I get periodic breaks from work and simply can't post in here as much as I could 4 years ago. With that said, continue to ask questions and continue to give answers. If someone wants to ask something specific to me, just ask ITT. During the season, feel free to PM me. maybe try Forte/Megatron for Nicks/Mendenhall? Forte should have a solid year and Calvin is a big upgrade from Nicks and would solidify your WR corps
9/1/2010 10:46:54 AM
yeah but Chester Taylor worries me. He could take a substantial cut from Forte.
9/1/2010 11:31:20 AM
If it were me I wouldnt trade Mendenhall...I prefer to have better RBs than WR unless you are in a PPR league. If you do want to trade Id do a straight Mendenhall for Calvin trade to upgrade your WRs and move Ronnie Brown to the starting RB spot.V then I would do a straight trade for Calvin. If he wants him bad enough take Calvin and take a chance on Felix Jones. [Edited on September 1, 2010 at 11:57 AM. Reason : a]

9/1/2010 11:54:25 AM
my draft strategy was 3 RBs, 3 WR, QB, TE, 3x BEST AVAILABLE RB/WR, QB, DEF, TE, K, BEST AVAILABLE WHATEVERi picked McCluster and Cribbs as my last two spots because I always like to have ST specialists who can consistently produce even if they are not stellar otherwise

now he just wants to trade Forte for Mendenhall....argh! DECISIONS!!

Yeah but I want Calvin Johnson.what about Forte, Johnson for D. Bowe, Nicks, and Mendenhall?
9/1/2010 12:34:45 PM
It's my opinion that you lose there, Volcom.Forte could crap the bed...and quite honestly, so could Johnson. What about Brady, Forte and Johnson for Rivers, Mendenhall and Nicks? You: Big win @ WR, lose at RB, win @ QB (it's my belief that Brady will be significantly better than Rivers this year)He: Mild loss @ QB (but if he's a NC State fan, he gets Rivers. , loses at WR, Biggest win of them all @ RB.Overall, pretty even trade. If you want to make it more palatable, you could offer Jennings instead of Nicks. Is that too much of a shakeup?[Edited on September 1, 2010 at 12:43 PM. Any tips/strategy for a 12 team H2H draft in about 4 hours? =P
9/1/2010 4:52:23 PM
^specific strategy depends on where you're drafting, but a few points in general:Know your league rules inside and outWR's are more scarce than RB's this year, so when in doubt go WR (especially in ppr leagues)TE is deep, so don't reach for one early
9/1/2010 4:58:09 PM
So what kind of shape do y'all think I'm in--kind of worried about QB. We had an autodrafter gone nuts that went QB in each of the first 4 rounds on one team and for some reason I was high on Stafford so I picked him far higher than I should have and over some better options--don't know what I was thinking. I also went way high on D/ST but they tend to go early in our league due to favorable scoring rules and a run was brewing. 10 team league, PPR only for TE's, 3rd pick in snake draft. Overall pick # in parentheses.QB: Matt Stafford (58)RB: Ray Rice (3)RB: Pierre Thomas (23)WR: Larry Fitzgerald (18)WR: Anquan Boldin (43)WR: Malcom Floyd (123)TE: Jason Witten (38)K: Garrett Hartley (138) D/ST: Vikings (98)Bench: Vince Young (103), Darren Sproles (78), Willis McGahee (158), Pierre Garcon (83), Jerricho Cotchery (118), Percy Harvin (63) , Ben Watson (143)
9/1/2010 5:17:49 PM
Here is my team (16-team, PPR, points for punt/return yards, snake draft, had the 3rd pick):QB Cutler, Jay RB Peterson, Adrian RB Wells, Beanie RB/WR Sproles, Darren WR Jackson, DeSean WR PHI WR Jennings, Greg WR GB TE Shockey, Jeremy TE NO K Buehler, David K DAL DEF Eagles Bench:Roethlisberger, Ben QB PIT Maroney, Laurence RB NEMoss, Santana WR WAS Robinson, Laurent WR STLWashington, Nate WR TENFeel weak at TE, but I think I can pick a solid one up off waivers if necessary. Benck WRs are a bit of a reach, and perhaps need a better RB2.
9/1/2010 5:45:25 PM
Cutler is gonna be awful. You better pick up another QB for the first 4 weeks.

9/1/2010 8:29:11 PM
I can't imagine having a flex spot that includes QB and not playing a QB. I think you blew it by drafting solid RB/WR and ignoring the QB's. You have to replace Best with Garrard, or a trade up would be nice. Maybe you'll do okay when Big Ben comes back.
9/1/2010 9:15:01 PM
Well it was a live draft and I was not able to make it, and I didn't have the time to be on the phone the whole time so I sent a ranked list to my friend and he did the best he could. Believe me, if I had of been there, my QB situation would not be as bad.
9/1/2010 9:25:57 PM
man, there will be sleeper QBs this season that are probably on the waiver wire already. Also you can play QB matchups all year long. But regardless, you should have drafted a two- QB rotation to play weekly matchups. E.g. Probably get a Flacco/Ryan rotation from later in the draft, but they will both have predictably big weeks when played smartly.[Edited on September 1, 2010 at 9:49 PM. Reason : not so much for Cutler (douche) and Roethlisburger (suspension and lost playing time, et al)]
9/1/2010 9:39:20 PM
^^^^How many teams are in your league? I'm sure quite a few people grabbed QB's early but you have like 5 guys that are in most peoples top 25 overall players.
9/1/2010 9:41:49 PM
thats a pretty interesting league setup...overvalue QBs by allowing you to play 2, but giving others the chance to load up on an unusual number of stud RBs and WRs
9/1/2010 9:48:56 PM
^^^Once again, I didn't draft this team, just provided a list since I couldn't make the live draft.^^10 members. I've offered a couple of trades involving Peterson and Charles for QBS, since obviously I have four "premier" RBs on my roster, most other players only have 1 decent RB, if that. The problem is finding a team that has both an top QB and other decent enough players to agree to trading away their QB. I did have one guy bring up a trade involving Eli Manning, but I am not sure what he wants from me, or who I should be willing to give up, for Manning.[Edited on September 1, 2010 at 9:53 PM. Reason : ^]
9/1/2010 9:53:31 PM
^I would just stick with your current team and rotate some QB's in and out based on matchups. You should get far better consistency from your RB's/WR's then everyone else, if you are losing 5-10 points on average per week from your QB's it shouldnt hurt you too bad.
9/1/2010 9:55:59 PM

am I missing the upside with Garcon somehow? isnt he competing for sloppy seconds (behind Wayne) with gonzalez, collie, clark, et al?
9/1/2010 10:07:34 PM
Wayne is old and Garcon has looked great so far/is the deep threat
9/1/2010 10:08:53 PM
^^^^^That is probably what I am going to do, and hopefully when Ben comes back he can be somewhat consistent.^^^Yeah two seperate trades involving either Peterson or Charles for a top 6 QB straight up.
9/1/2010 10:13:11 PM
even though we all know Dallas Clark is the real #2 behind Reggie, Gonzo and Collie and guys like that aren't stepping up...looks like he and Peyton have been getting their chemistry up since last season...most fantasy experts have Garcon as the 2nd Colts WR to go off the boards
9/1/2010 10:14:59 PM
wow, thanks. I hadnt watched any of their preseason games.I was thinking Wayne would be a top 5 receiver again for some reason. He's the only guy other than Clark who has any kind of real repoire/rapport with Peyton.
9/1/2010 10:15:01 PM
Wayne easily could be a top 5 WR again...but obviously Indy likes to throw a bunch, and I think Clark will probably have another top-3 tight end season...but Garcon will get plenty of targets, and could get 50+ catches and maybe 800 yards, just my guess...I happily have him as my 3rd WRand for shits and giggles, here's MY current top 5's at a few positionsQB: Rodgers, Brees, Peyton, Brady, Schaub (sorry Romo)RB: CJ, MJD, AP, Ray Ray, TurnerWR: AJ, Moss, Wayne, Calvin, Brandon (sorry Larry, but Leinart sucks)TE: Gates, Clark, Witten, Davis, Gonzo (not buying the Finley hype)[Edited on September 1, 2010 at 10:26 PM.
