I've never seen Crash, but general consensus among the film writers I've read are that it was total garbage and shouldn't have even been nominated.

I guess "film journalists" would be better. Critics would also work but if they aren't reviewing a movie at the time it wouldn't be totally accurate.

Not that I necessarily trust their word, but since I've never seen crash It's all I have to go on.

awards shows are political, obviously...and i don't mean the government, just the same hollywood politics that dictate what movies get the most funding, marketing and hype

The Departed was a very good film. Argo was overrated, but it dealt with a big political issue back when NCSU basketball was relevant, so sure, give it an Oscar! It was inaccurate and made you sympathize with some 'hostages' who were living in a house watching tv and stuff, while forgetting about actual hostages being held at gunpoint. No Country was a good movie but kind of boring. Didn't see Crash or Hurt Locker. But I did see better films in the last 9 years that probably weren't even nominated

tl;dr everybody has their own tastes and preferences in movies
