I love the new MGMT song. I'm hoping the whole album will be as adventurous as Flash Delirium.

"Holy shit...I cannot think of a less accurate or informative description of the album. I mean, I guess I can see where you're coming from in a really lazy, "THE PRODUCTION IS LIKE FROM THE 80S!!!" way, but in no way does it sound the way you described it. And there aren't any bands that sound like that. You are terrible at describing music."

oops. i likened it to gloria estefan. but i like vb's description too. I UNDERSTAND YOU VINYL BANDIT.

(especially "i remember" - lots of duran duran ness and maybe a little roxette?!)

AND can i just say i tried to like it? i heard it drunk at the times and thought it seemed catchy then i have been listening to it for the past 48 hours attempting to find something redeeming in it but the more i listen to it the more annoying it becomes. i think when i was drunk i ALSO told tschudi i'd go to the show with him but now i just don't know. may have to throw a "JK" on the end of that promise.

I should make it clear that I like Duran Duran.

This Yeasayer discussion is made a lot more interesting by the personal attacks, though.

Next up, Grizzly Bear is like Earth, Wind, & Fire for really white people.

Sorry, I'll try to keep it "interesting" by not actually saying anything but snarky one-liners that don't actually serve any purpose.

That said, you're right, I shouldn't have personally attacked you with the "cool" comment. Arguing with the haphazard way you seem to discuss music, though, is another matter.

my friend saw yeasayer at lollapalooza in 2008 and said they kicked ass, but it was also after their first album and he was high on drugs

this isn't really about grizzly bear, but i do feel like there's a ton of popular stuff out there that just seems devoid of any soul at all and it completely boggles my feeble mind

like it's all just limp and watery, but hailed as saving music

but then again i've been listening to waaaaaaaaaay too much 60s garage and 70s funk (and things of that ilk) and African jazz/funk the past couple months, so that's probably my problem

anyone else a fan of Zola Jesus? She happens to be from my home state. I'm seeing her for the second time this Saturday. Her new album Stridulum, it's ok... but her earlier stuff like Tsar Bomba is good, to me. You've probably seen her around pitchfork if you read it. I just haven't seen anybody post anything about her on here, I don't think.

hxxp://www.mediafire.com/?eg3zz0z130q -Tsar Bomba
hxxp://www.mediafire.com/?eg3zz0z130q - stridulum

Btw, you should watch this skywave video I made for youtube. It's nothing special, I justed wanted it on youtube beacuse the song isn't on there. You should watch it, Skywave's the shit.

Javelin is really entertaining, but I'm not sure I'd pay $15 to see them do a half hour before Yeasayer.

That's actually a really good cover too.

This fan-made music video is fucking great too:

I honestly think My Body is a Cage is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard. It's not only fantastic listening, but textually it's pretty amazing as well.

enjoying the new caribou today. it's psychedelic dub step - much more danceable than he's done in the past.

Well, I think I'm going to the fang island show tonight in Chicago....I waited too long to get my woods/real estate/neatherfriends ticket. Plus, I like small shows anyway. The new Tidus Andronicus is pretty good, and I'm digging the new Pill Wonder. To name a few new listens.

the new Dillinger Escape Plan leaked this weekend. Album is ridiculously good and definitely my favorite of the year so far. I will certainly be buying the album next Tuesday without a doubt. Album is their most accessible yet somehow their most technical album at the same time.
