Madams Organ is weird. Also, the Gold Cup is this weekend. I'll be studying, but if I wasn't I'd definitely be there.[Edited on May 3, 2013 at 6:32 AM. Reason : g]

5/18/2013 7:05:48 PM
I'm thinking about relocating closer to the beltway on the east side of DC. Anyone have any recommendations on where to look? I'm currently look at Oxon Hill, Accokeek, and Largo.
5/22/2013 11:26:11 AM
Oxon Hill has a Bojanglesbut it is ghetto
5/22/2013 9:18:02 PM
^ I think it's worth a drive to just grab a Bojangles meal. I have had withdrawal from it lately. Thanks for sharing!
5/23/2013 8:18:34 PM
oh yeah it doesn't stop me from driving across the river to get it...but I wouldn't live in the area lol
5/23/2013 10:38:55 PM
Heading up to Herndon in June for work.
5/24/2013 2:36:07 PM
So there is a very strong possibility that I will be moving to the area in the not so distant future and I have no idea where to start looking for housing. My job will likely be in the Dunn Loring area. Any recommendations on areas to look? The wife will likely be trying to find work closer to DC if that makes a difference.
5/31/2013 12:29:57 PM
All depends on what you can afford. Arlington is great and in a good location between Dunn Loring (which I never knew was a town -- thought it was only a metro stop name) and DC, but it costs $$ to live there, at least in a good area anyway.
5/31/2013 1:28:10 PM
Dunn Loring is actually a pretty good spot, and your wife would be able to take the metro into DC. Arlington is nice as well since that would be a reverse commute, but as mentioned, there, Falls Church and the District are much more expensive.
5/31/2013 2:22:40 PM
Reverse commute is the best commute.
5/31/2013 6:06:02 PM
^I commute from falls church to herndon and it takes me 30min with express lanes no matter when I leave
6/1/2013 12:13:27 PM
Glad work is telecommute friendly, hopefully in the future they will increase the number of days again (right now 3 days a week). Live in NOVA and commute to DC.
6/1/2013 3:44:52 PM
I'm glad I don't have to go into DC every day for work(or at all for work)[Edited on June 1, 2013 at 6:12 PM. Reason : ]

I'll be working for the G so not raking in the big bucks but we will be working with two incomes and my job will offer substantial overtime opportunities. What type of price range would a 2br at ~800sf run in the falls church / arlington area?Luckily I will be in the area for training in July so I plan to do quite a bit of househunting then.
6/4/2013 1:54:56 PM
my mortgage is around 1500/month for 1800sqft 2bd 2.5ba but I have another 600/month in HOA.

I'm beginning to give up hope of finding a decent 1 bedroom/w den or 2 bedroom for 1400
6/9/2013 1:10:37 AM
i have a 1 bedroom w/ living room for 1300, in Franconia
6/9/2013 8:41:17 AM
if you find anything like that, holla. we have a 2 br in silver spring that's 2200 (including 1 parking space). granted it's over 1100 sqft, new construction, top floor, and high end finishes. but still. it's absurd up here. already looking at a job in richmond because of the cost of living in DC. i love the city, but it's out of control[Edited on June 9, 2013 at 5:37 PM. The first apartment I had in Rockville was a 1 bedroom with a den, for about $1325/mo
6/9/2013 7:35:18 PM
you can get a monthly payment much lower by buying vs renting. year on year gains seem to be high enough to offset the money wasted in HOA/condo fees

I don't think it will have any long term effects. DC politics have always been corrupt, and always will be in my opinion. And DC isn't alone... This is something that plagues the politics of nearly every large city.
