i don't want to let my whole house know i'm playing at late hours of the night so that's why i would want a nice wireless headsetbut as far as the competition, like how do people make teams, how are the tournaments, who does them? like are their organizations like CAL / TWL? or do you just play on random pubs with random people all the time?
10/23/2009 6:27:10 PM
Isn't this game 720p anyways?I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.
10/23/2009 6:40:57 PM
normally you'd join a game with random players...but you can create a clan tag and join up with people you know also

if i want to be able to navigate the xbox 360 when mw2 comes out, what game should i get right now in order to familiarize myself with the controls and 360 movement and stuff?
10/24/2009 11:07:36 PM
amazon credit is 20$ now
10/25/2009 12:08:09 AM
^^ uhh, MW1?
10/25/2009 1:18:57 AM
rather not waste money on a game that's gonna be dead though - what's the best one out right now? halo 3?
10/25/2009 7:53:45 AM
correction: please suggest 3 titles out right now. best buy has a buy 2 get one free going on this week
10/25/2009 8:27:12 AM
10/25/2009 9:33:26 AM
lol well enlighten me - i know absolutely nothing about the xbox community, sorry. for us pc gamers, cod4 (mw1) is pretty dead at the moment. and it will be even moreso now that people are pissed at mw2 for not supporting PC competition. people are looking for games to move to. so nobody's looking to get INTO mw1 when mw2 is right around the corner - no sense wasting money on it. won't mw1 die when mw2 comes out for xbox?
10/25/2009 10:50:15 AM
maybe, but i can promise you RIGHT NOW that there's still plenty of people online playing MW1. and honestly, i would wager 75% of the live community won't be looking into anything else either once MW2 comes out[Edited on October 25, 2009 at 10:54 AM. Reason : .]
10/25/2009 10:53:23 AM
mw1 will slow down, but definitely not die. Between people not wanting to pay for another game, and the people that will hate whatever small changes they've made to mw2, mw1 will always have a dedicated group to play online
10/25/2009 11:07:29 AM
much like the CS community when steam was first introduced.
10/25/2009 1:51:33 PM
so if i had to buy 2 get 1 free, cod4, which halo game, and what? gears of war 2/fallout 3/something else? leaning only towards FPS games
10/25/2009 2:43:58 PM
Would you be playing Halo mostly on Live? Or single player? And Fallout 3 is supposed to be epic.
10/25/2009 2:52:45 PM
mostly on liveanything single player can be bootlegged if i really cared enough to
10/25/2009 2:56:59 PM
Well get Halo: ODST then. It comes with Halo 3's multiplayer plus all the DLC.
10/25/2009 3:05:37 PM
Single player games are usually worth a rental, not a purchasein my opinion
10/25/2009 3:19:39 PM
^at least recently. MOST games aren't even worth the price used. 2-3 hours in its the same shitty game every other developer makes.i can't think of a game i've owned since my PSX, N64 days that was worth buying for single player.I still play MGS ocassionally.I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message./]
10/25/2009 5:28:17 PM
If you never bought Halo 3, Halo: ODST is going to actually be worth buying for you, probably. It includes a mediocre campaign, and actually decent Firefight mode (survival), and every Halo 3 multiplayer map since release. If you want to familiarize yourself with 360 controls and Live and shit, it's probably your best bet.Modern Warfare 1 is a better game by far, though, in both multiplayer and single player.
10/25/2009 5:32:51 PM
CoD World at War is a good game... Not as good as MW1, but it does have zombies!!!! and yes, get Halo ODST if you want a good Halo multiplayer experience.. the single player game is weak, but it has a bunch of MP stuff included
10/25/2009 6:15:09 PM
left 4 dead is also a stellar first person shooter that still enjoys plenty of online support, although the sequel to that one is coming out two weeks after MW2
10/25/2009 6:34:21 PM
10/25/2009 7:11:52 PM
I created a new charatcer in WaW. 2.65:1 kill death ratio 68 games won in 10 hours in free for all, with a 68 game streak Trying to keep it fresh so I can ravage in MW2

i didn't read that but that better be limited to the vehicle sections...I'm astralAdvent and i approved this message.
10/27/2009 12:33:11 AM
It's limited to private games and what sounds like a 3rd-person playlist online.1st-person and 3rd-person players will never be fighting in the same game at the same time.
10/27/2009 12:44:38 AM
I thought at first it was like halo. Vehicles and large guns (mounted turret after you ripped off)
10/27/2009 9:26:40 AM
lol, this is sure to generate some headlines. Call of Duty: Terrorist Simulatorhttp://www.mw2blog.com/modern-warfare-2-campaign-footage-leaked-on-justin-tv/

thats fucking awesomeI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

Ah, so they're still going for the hard-hitting greatness that made the story of MW1 so memorable...Only this time, instead of seeing life from the eyes of a crippled man dieing slowly and painfully of radiation poisoning, all because he made a last-minute attempt to rescue a fellow soldier from a horrible death... we're seeing it from the eyes of a terrorist on the verge of wrecking some shit.I didn't watch the video because I really don't want to spoil it for myself any more than has been done already, but GOD DAMN Infinity Ward has not lost their touch. Not even a little bit.IW's design philosophy seems to be something along the lines of this:Step 1 -- We're going to start by making a great game with many unprecedented, innovative, and outstandingly-designed elements, and we're going to give it a broad but heavy-hitting message and tell it to cinematic perfection with seamless combat gameplay... Step 2 -- We're going to make a sequel to that game, include those same elements with even more ambition and unprecedented stuff, but also include everything that everyone else has ever done before, but all at once, and we'll still make it functional in multiplayer. Then we top that stuff off with awesome shit that hardly anyone has ever even mentioned putting in a game before, and we'll add it too. And then we'll add an optional 3rd-person mode, just because we can. After that, we ice the cake with crazy ground-breaking story elements that virtually no one even thought of, and tell that story just as strongly as the first. Only better.[Edited on October 28, 2009 at 12:27 AM. Reason : seriously, though, chances are that no one manages to make a better FPS game for at least a decade]
10/28/2009 12:09:57 AM
Sure thats great and all but I would take a mediocre storyline and dedicated servers...Nonetheless, Call of Duty 4 is probably one of the greatest FPS games of all time, the only close contenders to its popularity and longevity are Counter Strike and Battlefield 2.

only pc nerds care about that shitI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.[Edited on October 28, 2009 at 9:44 AM. Reason : its 2010 buy a console]
10/28/2009 9:44:15 AM
Yea I definitely think it will, first of all its on 3 platforms, its popular globally, and there is a great deal of organized competition, CAL/TWL...
10/28/2009 10:51:49 AM
also what helps out the call of duty series is the achievements and prestige. In counter-strike it was still primitive so the only "stats" were what servers maintained (such as total kills and deaths), and there were no real upgrade systems or "ranks" per se. This is the type of stuff that keeps people interested in games as they always have something to shoot for.
10/28/2009 12:07:29 PM
oh my god i tried playing cod4 with the controller and immediately put my order in for the xim360 lolthose of you guys that have a xim360 - how does the controller connect to the xbox? i am already using the usb port on the back for the wireless network adapter - it looks like it's a USB connection in their little diagram, but i don't see any other USB ports on the xbox?
10/28/2009 12:47:03 PM
why not just a spend a few days getting used to the controller instead ?
10/28/2009 12:59:10 PM
i will - while the xim360 is shipping hahajust from playing last night - i got used to it a little bit. i can tell you i abused the auto aim feature like crazy because the sensitivity of the right d-pad thingy is too high. and holding that controller like that for so long made my lower arms go to sleep and i had to wake them up and stop playing after a couple of hours. a couple of hours on PC is like standard fare, don't even have to stop to use the bathroom or anything haha
10/28/2009 1:03:18 PM
^^^lol...there are two usb ports on the front of your xbox...how do you think you plug in a wired or play/charge kit? ^you are doing something wrong if your hand/arm hurts while playing xbox for that little amount of time AND...d-pad? how are you using the d-pad in CoD4 other than selecting special weapons or night vision[Edited on October 28, 2009 at 1:05 PM. 10/28/2009 1:03:59 PM
I hate FPS games on consoles, the reaction time and sensitivity of a mouse is so much better.
10/28/2009 1:08:15 PM
We get it.
