Reports coming in that the Rangers have fired Tom Renney

^really, not sure if it is really all renney's fault... redden sucks and so does kalinin and those two are the usual causes of defensive turnovers and lapses. I think slather should go, i mean renney can't all be bad look at the penalty kill and defensive play with the exemption of redden/kalinin

I would advise watching the Devils/Rangers game Monday night on VS. Both teams are going to be super pissed and hopefully ready to whoop up on each other. The Rangers got trounced the other night 10-2 against the Stars and the Devils gave up what should have been two easy points by going down 3-1 to the Kings last night.

Rangers vs. Devils is always a good match up... Honestly I am not looking forward to it, the rags have been playing like shit while the devils have done pretty well lately with the exception of last game

Anyone else watching the Sharks and Bruins tonight? Should be a great game. Also, I hope the Leafs can pull out a win.

I know the majority of yahoos don't like defensive hockey but last night was one of the best defensive games I have ever seen and it was between the Devils and the Bruins. The final score was 1-0 with the lone goal being scored by Bryce Salvador (who?) where the puck just barely fit through the puck sized hole between Timmy's right pad and stick. There were loads of good chances but both goalies stood on their heads. I will concede that the Bruins were the better team but Clemmensen kept the Devils alive. This reminded me of the first Devils/Bruins game earlier this season where it was a 2-0 tilt to the Bruins with the second goal being an empty netter.

Well, that Renney report turned out to be bogus. This, however, is not.

Quote :
"The Pittsburgh Penguins have made a big shakeup behind the bench, firing head coach Michel Therrien on Sunday.

The move comes less than a year after Therrien guided the Penguins to their first Stanley Cup final since 1992.

Dan Bylsma, head coach of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, will take over as interim head coach.

The Penguins also re-assigned assistant coach Andre Savard, while assistant coaches Eric Meloche and Mike Yeo will remain on staff.

Tom Fitzgerald, the team's Director of Player Development, has also been added as an assistant."

ALLEGEDLY some big scandal with the habs is about to come out in the MTL papers in the morning saying that 4 players got caught smoking pot and someone (or more?) had sex with an underage girl (underage in canada is 13, unclear if that's what it means..)

wonder if this is true.

[Edited on February 19, 2009 at 10:08 PM. Reason : if it is, hopefully it kind of destroys the team chemistry for the rest of the season]

"Translation: French ยป English

Although rumors have held the line open and sports programs, Thursday evening, there will be no charges against Sergei Kostitsyn, whose name emerged during the investigation Ax against street gangs.

According to information obtained from a police Thursday evening, the Canadian player would have had discussions with members of gang arrested on 12 February.

More than 55 men and women associated with gangs of Crips (blue) or who had links with the Hells Angels were arrested.

The discussions that Kostitsyn had with a member of the gang included the "drink" and "girls". Nothing criminal according to our source. There was also no charge filed against the player who was removed to the Hamilton Bulldogs in the past few days.

He was often drunk during these discussions. He spoke of some of his teammates during these conversations.

According to information obtained Thursday, it would not be surprising to learn that other teammates have spoken to members of street gangs."

In today's head scratcher, Ottawa has apparently forgotten that they are out of the playoff race and has traded Dean McAmmond and their 1st round draft pick for Chris Campoli and upcoming UFA Mike Comrie.

Did anyone watch the SJ/Dallas game last night? The one commentator sounds a lot like Forslund, wondering if it may have been him? I know he has done some work on VS. before.
