Are you referring to the Duke game in which State blew a ~15 lead with ~10:00 remaining? That was the 2004 ACC Championship game where Reddick went off and hit everything. I had $100 on State to win the ACC tourney at 15-1 and $100 on the ML for that game at 4-1. That was a tough pill to swallow.

The sad thing about that great Maryland team was that two of thier best players (Wilcox, Blake) were all but signed and sealed for NC State and we didn't want them. Instead we took Michael Bell and Cliff Crawford

Looks like Herb might get the Sun Devils to the tourney. It is his third season, and he does have Harden. (At least it didn't take him six years like it did with the Wolfpack)
1/23/2009 9:40:40 AM
i thought it took him 8 yearsi could be wrong
1/23/2009 11:20:01 AM
you're wrong.
1/23/2009 11:25:42 AM
so it was 6 years?wow, seemed a lot longer than that!
1/23/2009 11:37:44 AM
1/23/2009 11:39:12 AM
not to troll, but it seemed to happen every other gameespecially the big games...just couldn't get it done when it mattered
1/23/2009 11:49:50 AM
I miss Herb
1/23/2009 12:09:28 PM
^ i dare you to post that on PrickPride
1/23/2009 12:11:02 PM
^^having herb at the helm my entire collegiate career, i do not. not one bit. nothing against him as a person.
1/23/2009 12:19:47 PM
then you should know better than anybody....was it his 7th or 8th year at State when he first made the NCAA tourney?
1/23/2009 12:25:43 PM
from personal experience, i don't remember. but wiki says it took six years. and the first appearance was the season after i graduated
1/23/2009 12:33:58 PM
^I thought it was his fifth season? It was Grundy's senior year, whenever that was.Anyway, I'm with bullet. I had to deal with Herb pretty regularly in the media relations office. All this talk about him being a nice human being, a great guy, yadayadayada is really blown out of proportion. He was a decent guy who got EXTREMELY MOODY with no remorse or reason. He was pretty abrasive as well.I'm happy he's doing well at ASU, but I honestly, I'm thrilled he's not here anymore. The guy was a good coach and had an outstanding defensive mind, but he was never going to get us where we wanted to be. He knew that -- we knew that. Will Lowe? It's not looking good so far, but we'll see.
1/23/2009 12:35:38 PM
I think Lowe is doing finewinning be damned....his offense is exciting. i got tired of watching scoring droughts and 50 point gamesand Sid is bringing in a top-5 class assuming we get Wall and Cousins
1/23/2009 12:42:33 PM
It was either his 5th or 6th season. Because I think he was here for 10 years and I know we made 5 straight tourneys. But it definitely wasn't the 7th or 8th season.
1/23/2009 12:43:51 PM
1/23/2009 12:44:54 PM
The first time we made it to the championship in that 3 of 4 span is when we got totally blown out at the championship. That was the year we beat MD, which was the 2001-2002 season as MD won the championship-Reddick wasn't here yet. The next year, with Powell going lights out and with us having the 15pt lead at the half, is when "Duke shit" happened and we lost that game. I do blame the refs a lot for that. The last time we made it with Herb I really don't remember much.
1/23/2009 12:46:06 PM
not to mention Jamelle McMillan and Dan Werner
1/23/2009 12:46:41 PM
I don't think Herb was a fantastic coach, I just think he's better than Lowe. What I find hilarious is Lee Fowler hired an agency to get us a football coach, and in comes TOB. But Fowler "knows basketball," and relied on himself to find us a coach. Epic fail.
1/23/2009 12:47:08 PM
Fowler has only done two good things during his time at Statehe ran off MAFoxhe ran off Herband for those reasons, he's OK in my book
1/23/2009 12:48:41 PM
1/23/2009 12:49:04 PM
i believe everything I read...and if dude says it was 6 years, I'll believe him
1/23/2009 12:51:31 PM
jesus, what has this thread turned into?
1/23/2009 12:52:03 PM
^And all but about 10 schools would gladly take his last 5 years....
1/23/2009 12:53:32 PM
With the football team we have coming back next year, being a junior wouldn't be too bad. We might have a chance to do something big next year (temporing expectations ...). Being a senior would suck ass though. Sorry guys.Back to Herb though: Forget the "no ACC titles in 10 years" thing. I don't really care about that -- and honestly, i don't think winning an ACC title should be a goal of ours at this point. The telling thing is that we had one top-25 finish in the 10 years he was here. One. I'm not one to live in the past, but with the fans, history, and facilities NC State has, this seems a little underwhelming.
1/23/2009 12:56:59 PM
are you shitting me? you think all but 10 schools would "gladly" have a coach who, in his TENTH year was a regular low seed and early exit?
1/23/2009 12:57:04 PM
in my opinion, simply making it to the tourney wasn't good enough. i've been spending a lot of time on PackPride and they've opened my eyes about some things.I was looking at things totally wrong.if we ever wanted to be respected, we had to make the change. we'll be back to national prominance in a year or two. you can quote me later
1/23/2009 12:58:17 PM
1/23/2009 1:06:33 PM
GUYS, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, HE KNOWS WHEN IT WAS.
1/23/2009 1:07:28 PM
For fuck's sake it was year 6. And Tim knows this...How has this argument gone on for more than 1 or 2 posts.
1/23/2009 1:15:50 PM
just trying to get this thread up to 27 pages....one page per victory in ASU's season
1/23/2009 1:19:44 PM
^that would be the coolest thing ever!
1/23/2009 1:55:31 PM
1/23/2009 1:57:49 PM
^ while I appreciate you adding a reply and helping us reach our goal of 27 pages, please keep all Sidney failure and Lee failure discussion in the Credibility thread
1/23/2009 1:59:17 PM
1/23/2009 2:09:41 PM
^Has that been documented??I'm sure it was rumored. But you know we were also suppose to have Calipari and Beilein in the bag. So throwing that "we could have gotten Pearl" stuff out there is kinda ridiculous.
1/23/2009 2:18:47 PM
what he means (whether he actually does or not) is that we could have gotten bruce pearl when he was the coach at milwaukee.[Edited on January 23, 2009 at 2:37 PM. Reason : and even then it's speculation.]

UW beating UCLA today makes it just a little easier for ASU to win the conference.if ASU beats the teams they should beat (OSU, Oregon, Zona, Wazzou x2) and pulls out a few toughies (UWx2, USC @ home, UCLA @ home, Stanford @ home, Cal @ home) then they should take the conference
1/24/2009 6:33:00 PM
1/25/2009 5:59:49 AM
that is a very surprisingly fair article by the n&o.
1/25/2009 11:18:03 AM
Gotta love the Cornelius Williams reference.
1/25/2009 11:50:39 AM
that article prompted an 11-page thread on PrickPride
1/25/2009 12:17:20 PM
the name herb sendek alone prompts at least seven pages on packpride.
1/25/2009 12:19:59 PM
back up to #14UCLA down to #16Cal and UDub not ranked....6-loss Georgetown and Notre Dame still ranked
1/26/2009 2:15:33 PM
UCLA loses once, UW, ASU and CAL lose three each, Herb finishes 24-6 and 4th in PAC 10 COTY voting So weird looking at the PAC 10 right now, 6 teams should get in this year and UA won't be one of them.
1/26/2009 3:31:51 PM
also worthy of mention -- this is the first time since the mid-90s that ASU has been the highest ranked team in the PAC10credibility only takes 2+ years
