just seems like he happily accepts any "first african american" type honors, but quickly reminds us that he has a white grandmother when it becomes known that his black preacher hates white america
9/2/2008 1:41:11 PM
Obama isn't campaigning on race. if he was, do you think he would have won all those lilly white states of the mountain west and midwest?
9/2/2008 1:42:15 PM
i always put native american on scantrons cause i'm a native of america

^^like i said, he uses it when its convenient for him, which is obvious to anyone

anyone see obama interview with anderson cooper?AC: Some Republican critics say, you don’t have the experience to handle a situation like this [Hurricane Gustav]. They’ve in fact said that Governor Palin has more executive experience as mayor of a small town and as governor of a big state like Alaska. What’s your response?BO: Well, you know, my understanding is that, uh, Governor Palin’s town of Wasilly [sic] has, uh, 50 employees, uh, uh, we’ve got 2500, uh, in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. Uh, uh, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. Uh, so I think that, uh, our ability to manage large systems, uh, and to, uh, execute, uh, I think has been made clear over the last couple of years. Uh, and certainly, in terms of, uh, the legislation that I’ve passed just dealing with this issue post-Katrina, uh, of how we handle emergency management. The fact that, uh, many of my recommendations were adopted and are being put in place, uh, as we speak indicates to extent to which we can provide the kinds of support and good service that the American people expect.LOL, what a fucking joke. His supporters eat this shit up too. I hope he keeps talking.
9/2/2008 2:05:19 PM
lol, uh, lol
9/2/2008 2:09:03 PM
only 17 "uh's" in his response...he truly is a great speaker
9/2/2008 2:12:14 PM
wizard of Uhs, strikes again.Get him off prompter he turns into the wizard and says some stupid shit like he did in that answer.
9/2/2008 2:17:32 PM
when are him and mccain debating?
9/2/2008 2:19:18 PM
^^let alone the fact that he only acknowledges that she was mayor and refers to the people and budget of a small town in Alaska...almost completely oblivious to the fact that she was also governor of a state...I think the state of Alaska has more than "uh, 50 employees, uh, uh"
9/2/2008 2:21:43 PM
18 months
9/2/2008 2:22:17 PM
dnl, I think around the 26th of this month is the first debate. Its pretty cute how obama talks about her experience as mayor of a little town, when he compares it to his campaign. But leaves out her experience as governor with over 25k state employees and a 9Billion dollar budget. If anderson had some balls that would have been his followup, but he was probably getting a headache from all the "uhs" and didnt want to follow up.
9/2/2008 2:22:37 PM
a state that always operates a freaking surplus. Her job of running alaska is no more impressive than a mayor of any middle sized city in america.
9/2/2008 2:24:11 PM
^haha, keep sticking to that. Here is a good follow up:But the main point here is that Obama didn’t really answer the question, and he set up a straw man argument in response to Cooper. Governor Palin is, well, governor, and not currently the mayor of Wasila. As Governor, Palin operates a $9 billion budget, and manages $13 billion in revenue. Furthermore, she runs a government that employs 25,000 people. Obama blithely pretends that she’s still the mayor of “Wasilly” in order to boost himself. However, running for office isn’t executive experience, for one good reason: Obama isn’t the campaign manager. He has a CEO actually running the campaign, handling the budget, and managing the people while Obama makes the speeches.
9/2/2008 2:27:40 PM
I could balance a budget of 9 billion if I had revenues of 13 billion.
9/2/2008 2:31:06 PM
i could emptily talk about hope and change if...if nothing, i could easily do that
9/2/2008 2:32:04 PM
no you can't.
9/2/2008 2:49:47 PM
9/2/2008 2:51:45 PM
$9 Billion is pocket change. Many large corporations have monthly budgets this large. In all honesty i think McCain needs to reconsider. She has been on the ticket for 2 days and ALREADY the skeletons are spilling out.
9/2/2008 2:56:09 PM
skeletons being your daughter is pregnant and that you're the mac daddy of your state.i'll take em. at least they are on the table.

I wonder how much the baby's father was "heavily encouraged" to marry the daughter.....BTW i do not understand why McCain fans are not more upset about his pick for VP. I find it to be untolerable.
9/2/2008 3:02:49 PM
9/2/2008 3:03:27 PM
Yeah McCain's a great speaker. Here's his response to the cat 2 hurricane that just hit west of New Orleans.I wonder if he'll go give out bottle hot water to babies when Hannah hits later this week?
9/2/2008 3:08:02 PM
9/2/2008 3:08:37 PM
Hur what exactly are you upset about with this pick?I think McCain went with a washington outsider/reformer/woman. Would I have preferred romney? yes. But im pretty happy with the pick, much better than liberman or another senator. imoIm wanting to hear more from Palin, like most people im sure.
9/2/2008 3:08:42 PM
Yeh with all this horrible public speaking lately.. i can see why nobody is responding on the coastal cities to the global warming threat. Al Gore and company need to step up their public speaking skills...Cmon guys, sell me your coastal land at 5 cents on the dollar... it's gonna be worthless soon anyways because of rising ocean levels. 5% is a generous offer under those circumstances.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/general_election_mccain_vs_obama-225.htmlObama just spiked HUGE in the polls. Not only is he at his highest point ever, he also has his 2nd biggest lead ever for this race. Amazing. GG Palin.[Edited on September 2, 2008 at 3:36 PM. Reason : ]

^speaking of lacks xp, this is the best specific example they can come up with for Palin's experience straight from the mouth of McCain's campaign spokesperson.

wow that guy is a joke
9/2/2008 4:22:31 PM
Hur,1. She has more experience than obama2. I can understand that3. I dont believe this to be true. She increased taxes on big oil. She wants to drill in anwr, which would bring in more money to her state. imo. It would also help reduce our dependence on foreign oil. I think that is a big issue this election.4. I can agree with this point. I think she was more attractive, no pun, to mccain bc she is viewed as a washington outsider who fought against her own party when she thought it was corrupt. Plus she is a social conservative which should solidify his base.5. I dont know how you can compare her to dick cheney. To your point about the daughter, no it does not seem hypocritical. There is no evidence to show what the daughter was taught by her parents. I think both should be taught in schools, but we should not be counting on high schools to educate our kids about safe sex or abstinence, it should be the parents who introduce this. You can have great families whose children make mistakes and poor choices that affect thier lives. I do think one thing the mccain campaign is doing wrong right now is not putting Palin out in front of cameras. She is an unknown and needs to be talking to people, bc, right now, like it or not, most americans know her as the lady VP pick who has a pregnant daughter. Still plenty of time, but she needs to get on the air. imo

I think their budget is maybe 12 million dollars a year – we have a budget of about three times that just for the month,” Obama responded.

Apologies if this has already been discussed in this thread, I have not kept up with it thus far.http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/31/us/politics/31reconstruct.html?_r=3&oref=slogin&oref=sloginSummary: McCain wanted to pick Lieberman, but due to pressure from the religious right, he picked Palin, who's very far to the right.HUR brought up a good question, which is one that immediately came to my mind as well:What exactly will the religious right do if McCain picked Liebermann? Jump on the Obama train? That makes no sense...
9/2/2008 4:41:22 PM
^^ Making fun of the way someone talks is lame, but this isn't even that good of an attack. The guy is an amazing speaker, and just because he adds an "uh" or a pause every few words is nothing to attack someone over. He's just trying to make sure he picks the right words so he doesn't say retarded shit like "internets" or "strategery."[Edited on September 2, 2008 at 4:46 PM. Reason : ]

this cracked me up the other night, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=st0iHm40k_I2:02.Makes you really doubt the support mccain has about this pick. This lady can't even fake agree that she's the best pick.
