does the beta let you try out the harder difficulty levels or is your only option Normal?
12/9/2011 7:00:38 AM
only option is normal.but if the harder difficulties are like the other diablos then it would raise the levels instead of just add more creatures to fight
12/9/2011 7:39:39 AM
It does more than just raise the levels, the monster AI changes as the difficulty level increases. Additionally the mobs get more abilities and use those in a more intelligent way against you. Allegedly.[Edited on December 9, 2011 at 8:29 AM. Reason : me speaky english]
12/9/2011 8:24:00 AM
i'd like to get to see more about it, but the limitations are pretty high right now.i'm curious to see if they unlock more to try in the next few weeks
12/9/2011 8:33:50 AM
lots of complaints on their forums last night as the b.net server for d3 was down pretty much the entire night too many betas out not ready to handle the server loads
12/10/2011 12:22:33 PM
any new speculation on release date?
12/10/2011 1:59:23 PM
My guess is by the end of January
12/11/2011 10:31:07 AM
Yeah, speculation has been end of January. From what's being said on the fan forums, the biggest thing holding up D3 is the Real Money Auction House, and Blizzard's insistence on worldwide releases. You would think this isn't that big of a deal, but Blizzard is running into huge legal roadblocks trying to get it implemented in countries other than the US. Korea is allegedly giving them the biggest hurdles, but I don't know this for certain. Currently the buzz is that there will be a worldwide release, but that the RMAH feature will not be active in all regions initially. However, if Blizzard doesn't give us a release date in the next two weeks, you can bet on a mid-February release.
12/11/2011 1:47:57 PM
They just have to threaten to take Starcraft out of Korea and they will get anything they want.
12/11/2011 2:03:26 PM
yeah didn't even think about the legal ramifications of a U.S currency driven auction house...

the sandbox isnt as much fun as it should be, the mobs don't attack nor do quests work
1/12/2012 10:34:47 AM
I just don't think I am excited about this game anymore.
1/12/2012 10:54:20 AM
Completely forgot this game existed. I wish i could just go back 7-8 years to when vidya was the best thing everI'm Krallum and I approved this message.
1/12/2012 11:46:52 AM
I love how it was announced almost 4 years ago and still doesn't have a date. People that were excited about it are now losing interest. It pretty much speaks for itself that Blizzard is giving to free to people who sign up for the 1-year wow subscription (lol at the idiots who fell for this scam).
1/12/2012 11:57:46 AM
yeah 11 years to release a sequel is pretty esp. considering they knew they were doing it long before it was even announced
1/12/2012 12:06:22 PM
speaks more to wow's demand than d3's. i wasn't excited for this until about a month ago (when i realized it was coming soon and also that i played d2 a ton).

1/12/2012 1:51:58 PM
people will whine about anything. when was the last time blizzard put out a really shitty game?
1/12/2012 1:57:18 PM
^^ have you played ANY of the game already?this game feels tailored to make the transition to consoles very easily. and unlike skyrim it doesn't feel like its meant more to be played on a console
1/12/2012 2:42:50 PM
id actually argue the older ones were even more console-y. i mean most of the attacks spells are just spam 1 button. drink potions coulda been another button (or two). swap right/left click ability coulda been a few more buttons.surprised they never bothered since things like the baldurs gate diablo clone and the like were on consoles and were decent.
1/12/2012 2:46:02 PM
1/12/2012 3:13:19 PM
I would have hated to play the old ones on a console, too much scrambling for loot that would've sucked on a controller and I shuffled through a variety of spells/buffs all the time, a console couldn't have kept up with my palapkThe sandbox was a bit underwhelming and I hope the release is much better in all aspects I've seen. Fuck console releases too and the new generation of console gamers...games should be able to scale with technology, not be dumbed down to adhere to limitations[Edited on January 12, 2012 at 3:18 PM. Reason : .]
1/12/2012 3:17:45 PM
^^ not reallyBG and diablo were fairly different in play style if you ask me. so calling one or the other a clone is a bit silly. However, you missed the point. I was talking about Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance which was a diablo clone (or I guess, it was somewhere between Gauntlet and Diablo). I just forgot the name until right now.
1/12/2012 3:41:28 PM
i gotta say, as excited as I was for this game, Blizzard has done an amazing job of killing my hype
1/12/2012 4:33:35 PM
SWTOR has also made me somewhat apathetic about this game now.
1/12/2012 5:01:15 PM
I have no feelings in particular about D3.But I will say this: Baldur's Gate is in no way comparable to Diablo. Or vice versa.Apples and oranges.
1/12/2012 6:26:14 PM
if i can beat dues ex before this drops, will play it.
1/12/2012 10:11:34 PM
As for shitty blizzard games... sc2, and wasn't that wait even longer?I'm Krallum and I approved this message.
1/13/2012 2:13:42 AM
^you're fucking high. sc2 is great

The announcements that you couldn't play offline killed a bit of enthusiasm but the real killer was announcing that they weren't going to allow mods. I suppose the no offline play allows them to enforce that.Dungeon Siege 3 got me worried as well. Sure, a different game and different developer but DS3 showed me what can happen when a consider the console mentality becomes the driving force. That and it was pretty clear that DS3 tried to develop around concepts that had already been announced about Diablo at the time, mana and health orbs, attributes increased via items not assignable points, etc. That game turned out terrible and it seems like Diablo will also suffer from the "make it console accessible" mentality.Sure they developed Diablo for the PC/MAC and will port to the console, but I'm sure the knowledge that they would eventually bring it to consoles governed some of the development decisions for the PC.Diablo 3 was once a wait in the store at midnight and take a week off work title. Now I find myself wanting to wait until level headed reviews are out. With the beta I'm sure there are already plenty of reviews but I don't even have enough enthusiasm about the game to read them.
1/13/2012 7:33:15 AM
well at least THAT was a well thought out and explained non-whine.im willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. sounds like they tried to make the combat a bit more engaging and tried to get rid of a few annoyances (no respec, constantly having to buy and put potions in your belt, asshole friends taking the good loot, etc).i can see why it would worry you, but im hoping it is more a way to get rid of the more tedious aspects and keep the action and lewtz grabbing going.guess we'll see in a few months. wish i had gotten the beta to give it a shot.
1/13/2012 9:57:49 AM
I'm pretty sure the same thing happened with diablo 3 as did with the deterioration of WoW (they re-allocated most of their developers to project titan) and are relentlessly delaying content and spitting at us with the whole "It's done when it's done" bs they've been spewing for years now. There's no reason this game shouldn't have been out a year ago.
1/13/2012 10:26:22 AM
I agree that the older diablos felt very console-friendly.However, with the removal of potions, increasing the number of mappable skills to 5-6. they have made it so it could easily be mapped out to play on a controller (and i could see it being almost easier to play the game on a controller) and probably will with torchlight 2 working so diligently at going pc and console.I will undoubtedly still get the game, although the first act (all that was available in the beta) ended very quickly without allowing much into the game other than to showcase what the classes were, how mappable skills would function, and work out bugs with the auction houses
1/13/2012 11:27:02 AM
The deal for free D3 when you agree to 1 year of WoW has nothing to do with D3. Its to try and keep WoWs subscription numbers as high as possible.
1/13/2012 11:47:12 AM
it may be that they're thinking d3 has lost its luster after a decade of being away from the franchise.
1/13/2012 12:39:42 PM
I don't think they have any worry that the game wont sell in record numbers upon release. It is the most anticipated and hyped game out there. They are using that to keep WoWs numbers up.Worried people are losing interest in it is a laughable thought.
1/13/2012 12:58:46 PM
agreed. Like I said way up earlier in the page, it speaks a lot about WOW's popularity if you ask me.even if i was meh on this game, I know about 12 people who will buy it and play a ton so that will give me plenty of ppl to play with (which immediately makes it better since that's more than most multiplayer games i know)

i'm honestly not sure what i would believe for a release date with the game. i'd think an open beta would come before they released it - and probably have 3-4 weeks time with the open beta. mainly to handle any strains of the "always online"
