^ agreed, apparently Cedric's father was having health issues and he needed NBA money to pay for his care
6/7/2008 11:41:49 AM
He's going to be nasty in the NBA.

i wish him the best. he came here, played hard, and did his best to help the teami blame sidney for starting him over ben and brandon right off the bat, screwing up the chemistry before it was even established. you people saying good riddance are more detrimental to our team than any player
6/7/2008 1:14:52 PM
Hickson's presence ruined the teamwhether its Hickson's fault of Lowe's faultwe would have been better off without himhe wasn't that impressive when it matter the mosthell, didn't Sid pull him out for half a game because he wasn't doing shit?
6/7/2008 1:27:14 PM
whats your point? a lot of players get pulled for being unproductive during games. like Grant in his last game
6/7/2008 2:04:56 PM
my point isHickson isn't shitnor is he a team player
6/7/2008 2:06:03 PM
6/7/2008 2:07:36 PM
I wouldn't give a fuck either if I had to play with Hickson on the team, knowing he was just using this as a stepping stone to the next levelHickson didn't score points to help the team win, he scored points to boost himselfif Hickson didn't give a shit about the team, why should the team give a shit about Hickson?
6/7/2008 2:13:33 PM
^how long have you known jj? did yall grow up together? you act like you know the guy or he is some kind of bad guy, etc. we dont know this guy just because we see him suit up and play basketball. I can see your point of view but to think he is some kind of parasite that cared nothing about his team is jumping to conclusions based on watching this guy run around with a basketball. you have no idea what's really going through his head so how can you judge? sure, he wasn't the second coming of DT but who is? He is living his life and moving on to the NBA like everyone with half a brain new he would probably do regardless of what his production was like in college.
6/7/2008 2:25:26 PM
he wasn't a good fit for Stateeveryone talks about the awesome type of recruits we're gonna get now that Lowe is here and how he has NBA experience and can use that to recruit playerswell, it looks like he did just thatCollege basketball is a team sport and you need everybody working together towards trying to make the team be the best it can be. Obviously Hickson didn't fit into that type of mold since the rest of the team didn't buy into the direction that Lowe was trying to go. As far as the NC State basketball program is concerned...we would have been better without Hickson
6/7/2008 2:35:04 PM

6/7/2008 2:38:26 PM
you don't help the team by jumping ship after a year and taking away whatever talent you have with youcollege basketball teams aren't built in a season

6/7/2008 3:39:15 PM
well considering that Kansas, Memphis, Xavier and UCLA all played mostly sophomores, juniors and seniors (with the obvious exceptions of Rose and Love) I would have to disagree, one and dones really only have a significant impact on teams that already have a strong supporting cast.[Edited on June 7, 2008 at 3:53 PM. 6/7/2008 3:52:16 PM
CharlieEFH is the jay davis lover, FYI
6/7/2008 3:57:24 PM
Marcus Stone was so bad that he had to find a new position to play
6/7/2008 4:15:13 PM
Jay Davis was a better QB than Marcus Stone, so I don't see what that has to do with anything.BTW...we should just scrap our basketball program right now.
6/7/2008 4:16:43 PM
Haha Jay Davis>Marcus Stone>Daniel Evans....I said that all along. But anyhow this is the news we all knew was coming and it is best for the team.Hopefully now Ben and Courtney can take this team on their back in their last years.
6/8/2008 3:13:14 AM
haha, NastyNos is an idiothow in the fuck can anyone seriously think, based on what we saw last season, that JJ will be 'nasty' in the NBA? He wasnt even 'nasty' in the NCAA...
6/8/2008 2:58:34 PM
jj obviously has a lot of potential , if you watched any of our games. hes cashing in on that potential now while he still can. If you seriously think that JJ, the best and most consistent player on our team, was the problem, you are a fucking idiot. JJ showed flashes of dominance, and youre an idiot DROD if you don't think theres a chance he could be nasty in the nba and he wasnt nasty sometimes in college. You wouldve probably sucked his dick the day he scored 31 against william and mary.
6/8/2008 7:52:48 PM
I still can't believe there are people out there that don't understand how not having a point guard affects the productivity of a big man, that and we weren't running that much, which is Hickson's style anyway. Considering the conditions of our guard play (being the wrost in the ACC), I'd think Hickson will be loked at as one of the top five players in this draft in three years, instant impact in the NBA.
6/8/2008 8:21:32 PM
I never said that JJ will never be good in the NBA, I just dont think he's ready to go right now, and I absolutely do not think that anything he did last season made him look like he will be nasty right awayand this is just retarded, and yet a perfect example of why he wont be an instant impact in the nba
6/8/2008 9:47:05 PM
It also didn't hurt that Bill & Mary's tallest player was like 6'7" and they were white.
6/8/2008 9:48:51 PM
if u look at the stats, jj has almost exactly the same stats as chris bosh in his year at GT. im not saying hickson will be as good as bosh, but if he had a decent team around him like gt, hed be getting way more hype and not so much bullshit from his own fans. hes got all the tools to succeed in the nba. i never said he would be an instant impact in the nba, but scoring 31 points against anybody in your first college game is a great start, no matter who it is against. He had like 5 games where he didnt score over 10 points, if that isnt consistency then i dont know what is.
6/8/2008 10:17:47 PM
Sure he scored 31 against William & Mary but he also had the 4 point, 1 rebound, 2 turnover performance against Presbyterian (not to mention it's fucking William & Mary). Considering he was our #1 offensive option the entire year and thus got the ball a large percentage of the possessions, his performances were often underwhelming. Also, you can't blame his inconsistent rebounding on the poor guard play.
6/9/2008 12:57:37 AM
6/9/2008 4:01:42 AM
I'm not going to argue about this anymore because I really do wish him the best at the next level, I just dont think that he is ready yet based on what I saw. Does that mean he will never be a star in the NBA? Absolutely not.He couldve used this next year to round out his game and be a more polished prospect. At this point I think that most teams feel that he is more of a project draft pick than a sure fire impact player
6/9/2008 8:26:11 AM
6/9/2008 8:51:44 AM
i hope Cleveland takes him, Lebron could make him rookie of the year[Edited on June 9, 2008 at 2:43 PM. Reason : a]

6/10/2008 12:34:13 PM
whatever team he goes to they are going to have chemistry issues.
6/10/2008 12:59:42 PM
^^Wagner finally started as a senior and averaged 8 PPG on a decent team.Yeah we really missed out on that talent.
6/10/2008 9:16:02 PM
6/10/2008 9:49:12 PM
actually cleveland told JJ that they will guarantee him the #19 pick if he stopped working out with other teams...
6/11/2008 7:06:50 PM
^^^Actually Wagner started Junior and Senior seasons... Big 12 All defensive team both seasons... 3rd team all Big 12 senior season on a Texas team that finished 2nd in the conference. Not to mention he was a fan-favorite and won the NCAA high jump title in '97 I get your point that the 27 points in his first game was misleading, but to say he was "never heard from again" is just incorrect
6/11/2008 8:38:10 PM
seriously doubt hes gonna be rookie of the yearhes so raw manreminds me of a poor mans amare stoudamire or nene hilario when they came in hes definitely gonna get owned
6/11/2008 8:53:14 PM
people use the phrase "poor man's _______" too often in sports, case in point the media was calling Jack McClinton the poor man's guillermo diaz, turns out its probably the other way around
6/11/2008 10:18:06 PM
6/12/2008 5:30:27 PM
Welp, it's official....Hickson is staying in the draft.
6/15/2008 1:56:19 PM
it was official when he committed to play here
6/15/2008 2:16:55 PM
i'm glad hes gone
6/15/2008 2:18:13 PM
RIP Wolfpack basketball. Now Sidney won't have any talent to not be able to motivate.
6/15/2008 3:27:54 PM
Expected, but I still think it's a mistake on his part.
6/15/2008 3:41:50 PM
hope the best for him. sure doesnt hurt the program to have freshmen picked in the top 20...if that happens.
6/15/2008 7:53:34 PM
Josh Powell and Joe Forte think he made the right move
