http://acc.starnewsonline.com/default.asp?item=2190499George Bryan Q&AN.C. State redshirt freshman George Bryan caught the game-winning pass as time expired in the Wolfpack's spring football game Saturday at Carter-Finley Stadium. The former standout at New Hanover High School was knocked on his rear by Audi Cole, but he got up, raced to the end zone and found a small open spot and waited for Justin Burke's pass. Somehow it landed in Bryan's arms for the touchdown.Bryan arrived at State last summer after graduating from New Hanover. But he redshirted and didn't participate in any games. Bryan is listed at 6-foot-5, 250 pounds. He was sporting a grizzled look Saturday, as if his face hadn't seen a razor in about 10 days. The following is some of what Bryan had to say following the game. You had a pretty solid day today, what do you think of your overall performance, not just the catch?I think it's a matter of (we're) all working hard and just happened to be open a lot of times and (the quarterbacks) hit us.How has your first spring practice period been?Awesome. Everybody is working hard. We've done nothing but get better, and hopefully that's all we keep doing is getting better. That was quite a celebration out there (after the touchdown). What were you guys playing for?Just to win the game. Everyone of us wanted to win the game. We're competitive. What happened on that last play? They (coaches) told me to get to the end zone and play jump ball. (Linebacker) Audie Cole hit me, I stumbled, got back up and got to the end zone. Burke threw the ball and I got it. I was the first one down there. There were a couple of other hands in there, but I just didn't want to let go.How beneficial was redshirting last year in terms of development and preparing to play at this level? It was probably one of the best things that could happen to me. I probably wasn't ready to come in and play, but I got on scout team and got to go up against some of the starters - some awesome guys, crazy guys that play football like I've never seen before. And they pretty much trained me, got me used to it, and I'm out here now.Where do you see yourself fitting into the rotation, or are you even there yet?I'm not sure, yet. I have no idea. Anthony Hill's coming back and everybody knows he's good. And (Matt) Kushner is real good, too. So I have no idea. And when you really think about it, this is a long process. There's plenty of time to work into a slot in the rotation and then to increase your reps.I enjoy having the older guys ahead of me. They teach me what I need to know. We're just all working together. It's not really a matter of who's in front of who. We're all a team. Nobody's jealous or anything. What area did you improve in the most this spring?I'd have to say blocking and just playing at the speed of ACC opponents and getting a feel for how the ACC plays.

dear russell, please be a good qb. we've been really good (patient, not in football success) all year and want some one to make those throws to those guys that can catch, and not those guys that wear different colors than us, guys with the same uniform. also, it'd be great if you could hand the ball off to the guys that like to run and maybe run some yourself. we'd like nothing more than to watch you make the ol' ball coach throw his visor on the ground in disgust and make those cock fans leave during half time with their heads down. help us wilson, you're are only hope.signed, medictated not read

http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news?slug=rivals-211108&prov=rivals&type=lgnsDE Johnson busy with unofficialsInterest is picking up for Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park defensive end Brian Johnson. The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder has taken a couple unofficial visits already and is hearing from a number of other schools.“I went to South Carolina’s junior day recently,” he said. “They didn’t offer yet because they don’t know what position I’ll be. They want to see me work out in person and see me run. There’s a chance I could get the offer after that.“I also went up to East Carolina, but I haven’t heard from them. North Carolina State says they are going to offer me, I’ve been talking to them since my sophomore year.”Plenty of other schools are interested in Johnson including Clemson, Illinois, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Louisville and Tennessee.Johnson plans to take a number of other visits in the near future for spring games including East Carolina, South Carolina and NC State. Is there an early favorite for Johnson?“I’ve always been a Florida fan, but they haven’t shown me interest,” he said. “North Carolina State has been another school I’ve liked since I was little. I like Mario Williams and Manny Lawson. Now they’ve got Tom O’Brien and he graduates most of his players. I like the stadium and atmosphere up there too.”Plenty of colleges are interested in the Charlotte prospect. What does he want in a school?“Of course I want a great degree. I want to go into political science,” (don't we have a really good PS program, especially with the capitol just down the street) he said. “I’ll look at the program, coaches and atmosphere. I don’t want to ride the bench. I’m trying to come in and play. I want to be productive.”Last season Johnson registered 78 tackles, six sacks, 10 hurries, two fumble recoveries and two blocked kicks as a junior last season.“I got stronger and faster last year,” he said. “I was much more disciplined and my pass rushing skills were better. I worked really hard in the weight room in the spring and summer and became a whole new player.”

What are the favorite games that you attended? For me:2002 FSU2006 FSU2006 BC (ah Dunlap's Corner will be remembered for a long time. we need a "Dunlap's Corner" sign there)2003 UVA2004 @ VT

2005 @ FSU was fucking awesome

Here's video of the last two drives of the spring game. Includes RW's 25 sneak and the game winning touchdown from burke to bryan.http://ncstate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=799286
4/23/2008 3:49:34 AM
burke has a good arm, he also had a good game, you can see from the video where he seems a little jumpy and impatient. a couple throws in that final drive wouldve easily been pick sixeswilson i think needs more game-type situations, but he definitely seemed more calm in the pocket than burke did and made smarter decisionsbeck had some good passes as well, but he still overthrows everyone by a mile
4/23/2008 5:24:02 AM
Burke threw some over the middle in the first half that scared the shit out of me. Both to Bowens, who without spectacular catches, are probably picks. Wilson had an EASY about 50-60 yd TD if he just hits his man who has everyone beat by 10 yards. But he overthrows the guy by 10. Beck was Beck. Played decently, but as others have said, was still overthrowing his man
4/23/2008 7:12:17 AM
i was hoping to see some great things from wilson...basing that on his scrimmage numbers and the way TOB has been talking him up...but i just didn't see it. his mobility was nice, but he was missing a bunch of passes
4/23/2008 8:51:44 AM
127 days til the sweet smell of charcoal grills and beer
4/23/2008 10:47:47 AM
i think glennon's going to be our man
4/23/2008 11:24:32 AM
I have mixed feelings... I don't want to see him get hurt or struggle with a rebuilding office line to protect him... but then again, i'm so tired of seeing shitty quarterback play that i say go for it.
4/23/2008 11:29:10 AM
I honestly don't think Glennon will start this year...I think TOB is going to end up redshirting him. Wasn't impressed by anyone at the Red White game though, was hoping to see more out of Wilson
4/23/2008 11:38:28 AM
4/23/2008 11:44:46 AM
I think it would be best if we could redshirt Glennon. However, after seeing the spring game, I'm afraid that we might as well get him on the field.
4/23/2008 12:59:15 PM
4/23/2008 12:59:42 PM
^^^While Evans was the starter last year, TOB has made it clear that the job is up for grabs and nobody has the job to lose.
4/23/2008 1:04:18 PM
I think at this point, with no one exactly exceling and stepping up...you still have to say it's Evan's job to lose, or someone's job to take (but no one is doing the taking).
4/23/2008 1:18:13 PM
if it's evans again, i'm going to riot.
4/23/2008 1:20:06 PM
I would rather see Evans than Burke/Beck anyday......I hope Beck never sees the field again.
4/23/2008 1:20:48 PM
Bitch Davis is mad b/c he's at a basketball school and there are empty seats behind him.
4/23/2008 1:26:08 PM
4/23/2008 4:05:47 PM
4/23/2008 4:15:32 PM
Some of you are forgetting that Glennon will still have to learn the playbook when he gets here. He also doesn't have experience going against D-IA defenses. The speed change between high school and college is very big. Very few QBs can come in and play right away. Burke, Beck, Wilson, and Evans especially all have a leg up on him in the fact that they know the playbook, have gotten reps and established chemistry with the other players in practice, and have seen college defenses. Now I'm not saying that Glennon can't play right away. Rivers showed us that that can happen. I'm just saying that it's probably unlikely that he'd be able to start this year.
4/23/2008 5:13:32 PM
4/23/2008 6:04:34 PM
i like to think it will be wilson's job come fall. he didn't shine in the red/white game but his numbers from the other two scrimmages destroyed beck's and burke's. (and unless evans has gotten a lot better they would have destroyed his too)
4/23/2008 7:21:00 PM
4/23/2008 8:26:51 PM
He still needs to practice the plays. Especially to get the timing down.
