it is not racism. People just naturally hang out w/ people they have stuff in common with. There were definitely black people hanging out in the popular white courtyard, eminem type white guys chillin in near the cafeteria before 1st period, and asian guys chillin with the hispanics near the english building.

Would you say in highschool you had a full homogeneous blend of friends. Party with the football players one night, attend the Science Olympiad with your geeky friends on wed, check out the step show with your hip hop friends thursday.

Yeah, I guess I hung out with people I had stuff in common with, in that I hung out with people who liked to get fucked up or just have a good time, and that pretty much covers all races, sexual orientations, classes, etc...

Well one things is certain-this case brought a lot of people's thoughts/feelings on race to the forefront. If one good thing came out of all of this-it's the fact that this case made us all examine what it is that gets us so riled up, who knows maybe they'll come a day when people actually dislike you for a valid reason beyond skin color or ethnicity.

I NEVER said that my school was racially divided. People though as it happens naturally tend to congregate with people similar to them. I am sorry that my high school was not a big homogeneous hippy paradise where everyone is best friends. I could easily have gone and hung out anywhere but I would feel awkward out of my peer group.

Even in a professional environment like where I work people with similarities hang out together more often. Sometimes the similarity is as simple as being on the same team. Some of the indians employees often go out with the other indians for tea. A few of the NCSU grads all hang out around the coffee machine and talk sports (includes 4 white guys and a black guy).

Where I am from in Charlotte there is nothing stopping any black family from moving into my dominantly white neighborhood. Through their own choice though many black families end up living in predominantly black communities.

There is a fucking difference between having cliques and being racially segregated.
