^ha I remember going there. They had Snuggie type robes you could put on if it was too cold.[Edited on July 12, 2010 at 10:45 PM. Reason : drinks were expensive as shit, though]
7/12/2010 10:45:17 PM
^can't really be more than Plunge at Gansevoort
7/12/2010 11:15:59 PM
Is new york city unbearably hot to be walking around the streets in mid august? Does it cool off at night moreso than nc?
7/24/2010 1:04:25 PM
7/24/2010 7:00:40 PM
it's not unbearably hot until you go down to wait on the subway
7/24/2010 7:12:29 PM
^^yea it is ridiculous out there right now. Today was awful, just awful. Its been really humid lately so it makes it a lot worse than it should be
7/24/2010 7:49:25 PM
its fucking hot outsidealso I went to that 230 fifth bar on july 4th because a friend worked there. I was wearing cut off shorts and a ratty t shirt and I got in.it was filled with mostly asians who looked 16. kinda stupid.
7/24/2010 10:30:46 PM
finished my honeymoon there. lovely weather this time of year. spent most of a day in the Museum of Natural History - got in for free cause I'm military.
8/29/2010 8:46:20 PM

Thinking about going to the US Open men's final next Sunday. Anybody been to Flushing Meadows? Does the metro connect JFK to the tennis grounds?
9/1/2010 2:17:40 PM
Huge pain in the ass. Fly into LGA or take a cab.
9/1/2010 2:40:24 PM
9/1/2010 2:53:00 PM
The only easy public transportation to the US Open is the 7 Train, which doesn't run anywhere near JFK.
9/1/2010 3:06:23 PM
And you'd probably be better off taking a cab even if you were close to the 7.As opposed to being wedged between some kid with purple hair, next to some queer with AIDS, right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time, right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids.
9/1/2010 3:22:04 PM
^eh, most of the rif raf doesn't take the 7 Express. (they take the local)

Me and TheBullDoza spent a few days there in August (we missed the heat wave by like 2 days ... sweet!)the Metropolitan Museum of Art was AMAZING!!! I was all, mehhh art museum, whatever. But I loved everything about it. I thought 2 hours would be enough time - no way. I only got to see the 1st floor, and only about 2/3 of it! One of my favorites was this painting of a woman that was made in Roman times. I just couldn't get over that I was looking at the face of someone who lived 2,000 years ago
9/2/2010 7:09:59 PM
The Met is definitely my favorite art museum in the city.
9/2/2010 11:35:29 PM
Does anyone have any budget hotel/hostel recommendations? We're gonna be a group of 3 trying to keep it on the cheaper end...
9/28/2010 4:34:36 PM
^I stayed at this place back in June called the Eastgate Tower. It was an old apartment complex they had turned into a hotel. I won't say it was the nicest place but it was livable and cheap.[Edited on September 28, 2010 at 5:28 PM. Reason : .]
9/28/2010 5:27:36 PM
^^ Salisbury Hotel is awesome for the price and location
9/28/2010 7:11:12 PM
This may have been posted already, but did you guys know that the Met is free? There is just a "recommended donation" to enter? Also, the Met takes at least 2 full days to look at all of the stuff. I love the Greek/Roman stuff.
9/28/2010 8:48:26 PM
^ Reminds me of the Simpsons. Homer tells everyone in line that they don't have to pay, because it's "suggested". You, sir, are Homer.
9/28/2010 10:32:22 PM
^^I paid up even when I was broke and unemployed. I dunno, just didn't feel like being a cheap ass
9/28/2010 11:22:34 PM
btttlooking for stuff to do...

Brooklyn Brewery is a fun place to go. Located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
10/14/2010 12:58:35 PM
keep em coming plz we're arriving saturday and will be there for 4 nights.we're planning on watching the state ecu game at brother jimmys on 77th...is that where the alumni club meets up? does it get busy? i figure with a noon kickoff we won't have a problem getting a table right?
10/14/2010 7:38:01 PM
Go to the Highline park.
10/14/2010 7:54:19 PM
^^77th is where the alumni group meets. Depending on the slate of games it can get crazy.but you should be fine at 12. they have 24 oz PBRs and Natty Lights for 3 bucks so yea drink up.. if you like belgian beers there is a really sick place called Voldenoit on west 4th and 6th aveBrooklyn bowl is a sweet green energy bowling alley that has live bands. Its huuuuuuuuge and its right around the corner from brooklyn brewery. Go to McSorleys on 3rd ave and 7th street. There is a hamburger place on Ave B between 2nd and 3rd street called zaitzeff. They have kobe beef burgers that are fucking amazing for 10 dollar bucks. sooooooooooooooooo goodVhahah yup ive done it too[Edited on October 14, 2010 at 11:02 PM. Reason : tt]
10/14/2010 10:54:23 PM
If you go to McSorley's you better go early. I've seen lines out the door at 4pm on a Saturday.I definitely recommend Brother Jimmy's on 77th for the game. The game's not till 12 and then don't actually open till 12 but there's always a few people waiting outside for them to open (been there myself, haha)
10/14/2010 11:00:59 PM
i've hung out with the alumni club up there a few times when in town for work - not a bad crowd
10/14/2010 11:08:20 PM
Alumni club is meeting on Bro Jims on 77th tom...
10/15/2010 6:29:04 PM
CMJ is about to start so most venues will have decent bands playing at all times of the day.google it
10/17/2010 11:03:51 PM
^^Does Heidi still go to those alumni events? For some reason that girl absolutely hates me.
10/18/2010 12:41:46 PM
10/18/2010 2:23:33 PM
i'm sure there is a facebook page for itI'm signed up for the one in Charlotte
10/18/2010 2:28:25 PM
^^ Yeah, Wolfpack Club on Facebook. Usually meets at the various Bro Jimmys for football and bball games. We usually go to the BJs on the UES, but lately have been going to Murray Hill and Union Sq versions (newer and a weaker crowd)....also active in charity events around town...Let me know if you need a link...called the Tri-State Wolfpack Club^^^ She still runs it, but has been less active this season. Odd she doesn't like you, she's usually very friendly...
10/18/2010 7:19:56 PM
^yeah I don't know why. I rode down with her once from NYC to NC and it was a nightmare. Does Mikyle still work at the UES location? If I recall she usually works (or worked) Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. I could ask her on FB but she never goes on...[Edited on October 18, 2010 at 11:28 PM. Reason : ?]

I'll be in Brooklyn next saturday, Nov 6th. Where is a good spot to watch the NCSU/Clemson game preferably with other pack fans
10/27/2010 4:38:27 PM
If you're willing to go to Manhattan, that question has been answered countless times. If you're staying in Brooklyn I have no idea.
10/27/2010 6:45:17 PM
i've heard great things about brother jimmy's from a few friends who live(d) up there. if we^^ go anywhere to watch the game i think it should be there depending on the time. MY question is which vinny's pizza in brooklyn is the good vinny's?also, i'm a little nervous to be traveling around by myself for a little bit thursday and part of friday, any advice?
10/27/2010 7:35:51 PM
I'll be up again in Nov
10/28/2010 12:24:42 AM
I'll be up in Brooklyn second weekend in November and then back in Manhattan in January...
10/28/2010 1:28:18 AM
^^^there are always tons of people walking around, so if you're nervous about crime I wouldn't be. If you're worried about getting lost, just buy a small map. The majority of Manhattan (and to some degree other boroughs) is a numbers grid so it's easy to find addresses. If you go to Brother Jimmy's the best (and original) location is 77th street and 2nd Ave (upper east side). It's 2 avenues east of the 6 train 77th street station.Vinny's pizza? I haven't a clue. Look it up on Zagat perhaps?[Edited on October 28, 2010 at 4:25 PM. Reason : ^][Edited on October 28, 2010 at 4:26 PM. Reason : k]
10/28/2010 4:23:58 PM
If you have an iPod touch or iPhone, there are a ton of great NYC apps with maps, Subway lines, landmarks, etc. I've been in New Brunswick for over 2 months now and still haven't been into the city. Kind of ashamed. I'm finally going in tomorrow for the Canes game at MSG. Gonna have to hit the Brother Jimmy's near the arena beforehand I think.
10/28/2010 4:30:49 PM
^4 go to a museum or something!use HopStop to get around by trainas far as Brooklyn pizza goes I recommend:Grimaldi's (classic - long line)DiFara (much touted - a bit of a trip though)Basil in Crown Heights for an interesting mix of cultures (Hasidic jews, Caribbean folks, and hipsters)OH and go for a drink at Duff's Alcohol Abuse Center in southern Williamsburg - its easy to get to off the J train - FANTASTIC metal juke box, good atmosphere and reasonably cheap drinks[Edited on October 28, 2010 at 4:32 PM.
