^^It got pushed back to 12/15.

recently my wife and i discovered my curve screws up my twc box on the nbc hd channel (217). if i place/receive a call while standing within 8 ft or so, the screen screws up and takes digital hits to the feed. this also affects the dvring of the channel as well. i assume it's something with the radio frequency hitting the shitty sa-8300 box. anyone else noticed anything like this (more than just placing your phone next to speakers/microphones)?[Edited on December 2, 2008 at 10:00 AM. i played with a storm over thanksgiving that a friend haddidn't really like the click aspect or the related screen movement.ill stick with my pearl/curve situation for now
12/2/2008 10:12:57 AM
^^yeah definitely...if i have my external speakers plugged into my laptop, anytime i use the walkie talkie feature i hear "clicking" (like chuh-chuh-chuh-chuh-chuh)
12/2/2008 11:21:59 AM
but ever on a tv?
12/2/2008 12:24:38 PM
yeah but its only the audio that gets messed with as far as i can tell...havent seen the video glitch yetalso i've seen it (heard it) happen with a number of computer monitors...mainly CRTs (non-LCD)]
12/2/2008 12:30:08 PM
so i've really been interested in getting a smart phone lately. Read the last few pages of this thread. I'm on AT&T so my choices are the bold, curve, and pearl. i dont really like the pearl and i don't get an upgrade discount until 8/09 so that really kinda puts the bold out of reach. how crippling is lack of wi-fi and 3G network as far as viewing videos and things like that? With an unlimited data plan, i guess speed is the only major drawback?also, those on AT&T...if you don't mind what is your average monthly bill?
12/11/2008 11:31:23 AM
AT&T?iPhone.
12/11/2008 11:55:05 AM
i have the curve on at&t (8310). i did the 4.5 update on it so i can see youtube videos. it's a little flakey, but it does work to an extent. i don't stream music, though i know it's possible. i'd like to have 3G, but it's ok without. it can be time consuming to use the internet- the internal browser is shit, but opera mini is a little better. i can't recall my bill off the top of my head- will get back to you on thathonestly though, you might want to reevaluate your options once 08/09 rolls around. do i like my curve? sure, but i wouldn't buy it again.
12/11/2008 11:55:20 AM
cool deal. yeah the more i read about it the more i think i'd be better off with 3G, Wifi^^iPhone is cool and all, but i just don't think its for me. I like the tactile feel of surface keys
12/11/2008 1:15:42 PM
the 8350i dropped today for consumers
12/15/2008 4:53:16 PM
Got like 7 in stock at Best Buy Mobile for $149.99 out the door (no mail in rebate like sprint store). It is pretty badass, has OS 4.6 the CDMA curve has 4.3.http://www.foxbusiness.com/story/markets/industries/technology/sprint-launches-blackberry-curve-customers-wanting-advanced-push-talk-769222018/]

TreeTwista10, I emailed my IT guy about using a Blackberry for our corporate email. I will post what he responded below. I think I understand, but can you tell me if this is a big deal or anything?
12/16/2008 11:04:37 AM
Sounds like you don't have a Blackberry Enterprise Server at your companyI have a number of other email accounts setup on my Blackberry aside from my company account. I have my Yahoo and GMail accounts also on there. But I don't think you can use the Blackberry's Web Client to access email on an exchange server. If you don't have a BES server at work which it sounds like you don't, your Outlook email and BB email won't be synchronized
12/16/2008 11:42:34 AM
well balls, that is not good to hear. Yeah it sounds like we do not have a BES at all then. This may cause me to rethink my decision
12/16/2008 11:49:20 AM
You may actually be able to setup a webclient account with your exchange server by just putting mail.whateveryourdomainis.com for your POP3 and SMTP servers in your webclient setup...one of my buddies does it that way...he has his BB synched with an exchange server and no BES
12/16/2008 3:21:02 PM
will that keep both inboxes synced? like if i delete from my blackberry will it still delete from my outlook? or will i have to keep tabs on both?
12/16/2008 3:31:59 PM
Heres what setup I would recommend on your Blackberry, with the choices bolded to synch your Outlook and BB:Email ReconciliationMessage Services......your email account with your companyDelete On: Handheld, Mailbox & Handheld, PromptWireless Reconcile: Off, OnOn Conflicts: Handheld Wins, Mailbox Wins
12/16/2008 3:46:09 PM
BAH! Track ball is too gunked-up, need to order a new one!
12/17/2008 4:00:37 PM
less than $10 on ebay
12/17/2008 7:32:45 PM
Yeah I just need to get one.....managed to figure out how to use it without scrolling down though. Btw has anyone heard anything on OS 4.5.0.117 ?
12/18/2008 11:17:05 AM
do they plan to add wi-fi to the storm?that's what i want.
12/18/2008 12:03:30 PM
so no flash on the new blackberry bold....what are my true limitations with this?
12/18/2008 4:00:46 PM
OK I got a question...has anyone ever configured a BlackBerry to have synched email from two different BES Servers, each with their own separate Exchange Server? Guy had a Blackberry on one server/domain/email address, reconciling through a BES Server tied into Exchange...then I added that BlackBerry to another BES Server for another email/domain...he gets messages sent to each email address on his Blackberry, but it seems like he can only reply/send from one address, and that that one address changes depending on when the IT Policy is sent from each BES...anybody know anything about this?

12/19/2008 10:03:05 AM
^so should i use the following setup for my business email...
12/19/2008 1:31:18 PM
yep, with the bolded options.
12/20/2008 8:46:55 PM
with my company email set up this way, will i have seperate inboxes for my accounts (gmail and company) or will they all just pile into a generic inbox along with sms messages and everything else?
12/23/2008 7:55:55 AM
Both...you will still have your main 'Messages' folder/icon which will have all your sent and received items, but you will also have individual mailboxes for each account you have set up...I have all the individual mailboxes hidden myself, but they are there if you want them
12/23/2008 10:34:57 AM
I just got a Curve and it came with OS 4.3. I tried to update it to 4.5 but it said I had the latest version, and would not let me update. What should I do?
12/29/2008 12:30:18 AM
do u have att?
12/29/2008 1:51:02 AM
No. Sprint.
12/29/2008 1:56:18 AM
you follow the directions exactly?one step people miss is deleting the vendor.xml file (that is if sprint's curve even has that)oh and to add to a previous post- marko's iphone also messes up his nbc hd feed as well. [Edited on December 29, 2008 at 8:29 AM. Reason : Ø]
12/29/2008 8:27:28 AM
the leaked storm firmware is out and it's good. well it's worth a shot anyway. if you need advice - crackberry.com is a great resource.the storm is still a weak device, but it's getting better.
12/29/2008 9:16:00 AM
Well I have a Sprint 8830 and 4.5.0.101, what Desktop Manager are you running?
12/29/2008 10:10:17 AM
I'll have to try this again when I come back home this afternoon.
12/29/2008 10:14:03 AM
Can I take the SIM card out of my blackberry and put it in my non 3G iPhone and everything still work?
12/29/2008 10:19:07 AM
^^ which version o 4.5 are you trying to install?
12/29/2008 10:35:07 AM
^^eh, maybe but I doubt it...both AT&T? Best case only the phone number will transfer...all your contacts, etc are stored on your Blackberry's internal memory or expansion card, not the SIM card
12/29/2008 10:45:16 AM
Both are AT&T.Dont care about contacts and the sort. Can always repopulate that.Anyone ever tried this before?
12/29/2008 11:16:05 AM
updated my att 8310 to 4.5.0.124. no problems so far. It did take about a month for it to boot up after it was flashed which scared me, but eventually it came up.I was coming from 4.3 and so far i've found the utubs + new browser + video camera. What other cool features are there? Are there any cool new themes I can get or anything?
12/29/2008 1:09:24 PM
I haven't updated in forever. I just downloaded the new desktop software, much better than the old crap. And holy jeebus I've missed some updates... going on like 30 minutes now
12/29/2008 1:56:51 PM
I haven't seen 4.5.0.124 in the wild yet. Did they fix the youtube bug from 101? There are several amazing themes for 4.5.0.xxx, generally I run something emulating the storm or bold. Also a cool feature is that you can use 16gb micro sd cards.
12/29/2008 2:14:58 PM
can you link me some of those themes?you can get 4.5.0.124 via some rapid share links on crackberry.com. Whats the youtube bug in 101? I went right from 4.3.something to 4.5.
12/29/2008 3:22:01 PM
101 has an issue playing youtube videos in fullscreen mode. I have an 8830 so I think its 126 or something...as soon as the game is over I'll post some links to those themes, right now I'm running a storm style.
12/29/2008 3:36:53 PM
I think I'll wait until the official Sprint version comes out. I don't really see a compelling reason to void my warranty just yet.
12/29/2008 10:49:30 PM
Is there a way to take songs you bought from the Sprint store and make the a ringtone?SOmeone I know just got a blackberry, and when you go to choose a ringtone, it doesn't let you navigate to anything before the /ringtone directory.
12/29/2008 11:10:15 PM
I grabbed some themes I found on the crackberry.com forums. They're pretty cool, but god damn are they slow on the 8310. Thing is waaay underpowered.
12/29/2008 11:36:23 PM
Does it allow you to have access to the .mp3? You can use media manager to move the file into the ringtone folder. That's how I make my own.
