I think Kobe is reading my posts. He dished out 13 assists and only scored 19 but they win by 23. Got his team involved. Luke Walton was 8-11 with 18 points. That performance was rather Nash-ish if you ask me. Kobe for MVP!

HE DONT DO DAT AIRY NIGHT, HE AINT NO MPV

He didn't win shit.I don't expect Kobe to make his teammates better the way Steve Nash does, but I do expect him to make his team better. And right now the Lakers are just an average team with a great scorer. He's gotta do more than score 30 points per game in order to be MVP. He needs to turn that team into a contender. Sure, it's unfair that Kobe doesn't have teammates as good as Nash and Dirk, but nevertheless he hasn't put the team on his back and willed them into being title contenders. Nash did it last year when Stoudamire went down, and Dirk has done it this year by leading that team to the best record in the NBA.
4/3/2007 12:13:37 AM
Dirk has done that with Jason Terry at the point. Terry is a really good point guard, career 16ppg and 5.3apg. He has Jerry Stackhouse, a career 19ppg player coming off the bench. Devin Harris is a qualiy starter, and Josh Howard is really good. You could break the Suns down the same way, though I believe they are a product of their system, coach and point guard. (at least their stats would be)Kobe? is making the playoffs with Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown, a 19 year old seven footer, a very unathletic Luke Walton and a D leaguer at the point. Walton is succeeding because he's in the triangle offense. Lamar Odom somehow went from being an underrated pothead borderline all star, to a slightly overrated pothead. He is a career 16 and 9 guy, who can pass the ball fairly well too. Josh Howard is much better than Odom though.I don't think the mvp should go necessarily go to the guy most valuable to his team. (because Nash would win)....it shouldn't go to the best player on the best team (Dirk would win)....the mvp should go to the most outstanding player in the league. (though he should play for a playoff team). If the lakers were in the East, they'd have one of the top three records.

4/3/2007 11:37:06 AM
firmly in the six spot. (up 3 games with 9 games left)....I guess that is barely.Maybe I should give Bynum more credit. He does block shots and he is in the top 30 in the league in PER....but we're still talking about a guy whose career high in points is 20.....Stackhouse average 29 one season....Terry has had multiple 40 pt games
4/3/2007 12:26:01 PM
Easy to forget the Lakers were having a pretty damn good season until their entire team got hurt. You guys seriously need to let this go.No one actually believes Steve Nash is better than Kobe. This is just one of those "stick to your guns" things just because you dislike Kobe.At least go with Dirk or Wade so your argument has some merit.

4/4/2007 2:49:58 AM
Which of those dunks, exactly, do you think Kobe couldn't do?
4/4/2007 8:15:16 AM
^ its one thing to say kobe is as good as jordan, but to say he is a better dunker, lord man, what's wrong with you
4/4/2007 9:26:47 AM
he didn't say he was better.
4/4/2007 9:38:27 AM
kobe vs jordan in a dunk contest RIGHT NOW id put all my money on kobehe's what, 20 years younger?
4/4/2007 10:50:15 AM
^ ^^ Sure sounded like it to me
4/4/2007 10:51:16 AM
I'd say Vince Carter is a better dunker than Jordan in all seriousnessthat doesnt mean Carter was a better playershit James "Flight" White is the best dunker I've ever seen...but his career high is like 6 points
4/4/2007 10:54:31 AM
He seriously didn't say he was better....He actually just said that Kobe could do any of those dunks in that video. Which is true. But treetwista is right, vince is a better dunker than both of them, especially in game. James White should be the mvp!
4/4/2007 1:10:29 PM
as far as dunks go jordan>carter>nash>kobe haha, but seriously take out nash and you got my real opinion, no dunker ever is more exciting to watch than jordan,
4/4/2007 10:09:46 PM
except for DT and Spud
4/4/2007 10:39:10 PM
Cameron Bennerman is an AWESOME dunker and is not even in the NBA.Perhaps he should be because he would be better than the two-time MVP Nash.
4/4/2007 10:41:51 PM
what does nash have to do with talking about what players are better dunkers
4/4/2007 10:45:05 PM
i dont think carter was a better dunker, maybe he could jump higher but he wasn't as graceful and lacked creativity.
4/5/2007 7:58:00 AM
4/5/2007 8:58:31 AM
VINCE FUCKING CARTER IS BY FAR THE BEST DUNKER OF ALL TIME!!
4/5/2007 9:36:21 AM
ohh you guys really got me I promise you in 20 years, Jordan will still be held in higher regard than Kobe, get over it and move on
4/5/2007 9:41:08 AM
That's wonderful, however unless Jordan is currently trying to win MVP this year no one actually gives a shit.
4/5/2007 11:13:41 AM
just as i dont give a shit about what kobe will never achieve [Edited on April 5, 2007 at 12:45 PM. Reason : .]

^^^ look at his name and status - you think he'll ever stop interjecting active basketball players' discussions with Jordan banter?Don't get me wrong. Putting MJ's contributions to basketball on a list would take fucking forever. But he's no longer playing. When the discussion is about people who still ARE playing, MJ shouldn't be brought up, except for the half empty "such and such is the next MJ/MJ wannabe/whatever). Discussion of what he did/didn't do shouldn't exist, much less carry on this long.
4/5/2007 4:52:38 PM
and I didn't start it, all I did was interject the idiots that started the comparison [Edited on April 5, 2007 at 5:03 PM. Reason : .]
4/5/2007 4:54:23 PM
Nash = MVPMarbury had the same back court with the suns. He did nothing with it. Nash gets the same back court, they victor.
4/6/2007 12:01:32 AM
^what are you talking about? the only players that were on the marbury suns and the nash suns are amare(who was there for 1.5 of marbury's years) and shawn marion.so i'm not sure what this same "back court" you're talking about is since the suns guard rotation other than nash includes raja bell, barbosa, and banks...barbosa and banks weren't in the league when marbury was on the suns and bell was being a worthless player for philly/dallas
4/6/2007 8:43:08 AM
It should probably be mentioned here that Stephon Marbury is (to quote Stephen A. Smith) TERRIBLE! While he'd be a great And 1 player, he's probably one of the worst point guards in the league. Marbury is everything that's wrong with the NBA, this coming from a huge NBA fan.Put Jason Kidd on the Suns, and you have the same team.
4/6/2007 9:41:45 AM
I don't agree. Nash is a much better shooter and ball handler. Kidd rebounds but Nash is a better PG.Kidd on the Suns would still be a great team. But Nash is better.
4/6/2007 5:36:34 PM
as a side note, marbury is a 2 guard stuck in a point guard's body
4/6/2007 5:37:21 PM
4/7/2007 9:00:43 AM
^ suns didnt have the team they do now dumbasskidd could do the exact same stuff nash does for that team oh yeah KOBE 46 points, 5 boards, 6 assists, 3 steals and a laker win!!
4/7/2007 9:09:31 AM
^Yeah okay Im getting called out by one of the worst ST posters.Nash doesn't have anything to do with guys like Jerome James and Boris Diaw becoming good players.
4/7/2007 9:15:26 AM
^^Listen up n00b, you have no clue as to what in the fuck you are speaking of.If Kidd were on the suns, they would be a ~4/5 seed in the west. The Suns rely very much on Nash being able to SCORE, something that Kidd is having major trouble doing this season. Add in the fact that Nash is one of the best 3point shooters in the league, and the comparison is a no brainer. Nash IS the Suns. He embodies everything they are as a team. If you think Mr. 7 point per game Kidd could just step in and copy Nash's success, you are gravely mistaken.remember this, n00b:'tis better to lurk, and let people think you are an idiotthan to post, and confirm all suspicions.
4/7/2007 9:42:14 AM
I like Nash, definitely think he's more dynamic than Kidd, but I think D'Antoni's philosophy is a major part of the Suns recent regular season success. Nash has been good for a while, but it's only since things have come together in Phoenix that people are giving him the credit he's deserved. I think D'Antoni deserves most of the credit there. ...but back on thread topic: Kobe should be the MVP. He really is the most valuable player, by pure definition of the phrase. He probably won't win, but damn, the dude is just having a sick season, again. If the Lakers stay healthy they are going to be dangerous in the playoffs

I don't know how many people here that claim Dirk, Nash, Kobe or whoever for MVP actually follow the games, but...Why in the hell should Dirk be in the top two for MVP? His team is very good (Harris, Stackhouse, Terry, Howard, George, Dampier.) They can start on any team in the league. Also, Dirk is always choking in the last minutes of the game, for example yesterday.Nash, I can understand, but still he has a lot of good players that can actually make the shot and help out in everything. For example, the game they beat Dallas in that double overtime, if it wasn't for Marion's rebound that gave the ball back to Nash, after Nash missed the first 3, they wouldn't have won. It seems that the Suns have excellent players at the positions they are supposed to play. Defense, it's Bell and Marion. Rebounds it's Stoud and Marion. Barbousa can do everything as well.Kobe doesn't have this, he has a bunch of softies that can't play worth of shit for now. Even Odom is very inconsistent but he does help. Kobe's numbers are amazing, it seems as if he has to put those numbers up every game for them to win. They would go nowhere without Kobe.
4/7/2007 4:25:51 PM
4/7/2007 5:00:38 PM
Basically, I am saying that Nash is a good pick, but he has very solid players around him. Bell is a very good defender and shooter, but any defender will look like shit when guarding Kobe. Hence, "Who is he?"
4/7/2007 5:35:30 PM
ok i have the nba league pass and watch almost 2 to 3 games a night and i apologize for anything i have said that might offend someone's thought about the nba but are there really any of you out there that think there is a better player in the league than kobe bryant????????
4/7/2007 7:12:58 PM
^ that's what I'm talking about!
4/7/2007 7:46:47 PM
there should be no argument over who is the best player right now. its kobe hands down. too many are blinded by their hate for the mamba and thus dont see things clearly.jordan used to be very unpopular in the same way. i used to hate jordan and not give him credit, but i eventually just gave up and recognized.
