I love the fact there is one dude defending the PS3 in one PS3 thread, whereas there are about two dozen Wii users in two Wii threads and another two dozen 360 users in two 360 threads.I can't say I hate the PS3; hell, I'll buy one after a price drop , people start dumping their consoles on eBay for less than market or a good number of decent exclusives hit the shelves. But until then, I'll read about the games and play the NBA demo at the kiosks. It's a decent system, but if price is an issue for an HD system, I'd roll 360 100 percent -- especially right now. There are just not enough exclusive titles that draw my attention. I admit "Resistance" looks sweet, but I can wait to grab that when the next "Gran Turismo" (not the cop-out "Gran Turismo HD") hits the market. Then I'll look seriously if the price is worth it.[Edited on February 13, 2007 at 11:00 PM. Reason : P8]

I seriously doubt the price drops any time soon. Probably for at least a year.

umm id buy a ps3 if there was some games worth buying it for...right now theres nothing in the immediate future and almost everything that is out for it or coming out is going to be on 360 too...

^MLB 07 the Show sounds really good for PS3 but there havnt been any screenshots for it yet. Comes out April 3rd.
2/14/2007 9:26:36 AM
^^^ Analysts are predicting a price drop ($100) by the end of '07; probably with the launch of a flagship game. If you look at the PS3 release schedule, GT5 could hit shelves in Q4. Also, there may be an even bigger price drop by '09. Sony will no longer be making the cell processors first-hand, and they are getting smaller. So by '09, look for a smaller version of the PS3 with an even smaller pricetag as they mass produce the cells.Sources:http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=15103http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=15122http://beyond3d.com/#news38360http://tinyurl.com/27hf4r[Edited on February 14, 2007 at 5:46 PM. Can't wait for Motorstorm. Its looking like its going to be really fun to play, especially online. I'm picking up Oblivion as well since I never played it on any other console and heard it really was a super fun game. I'm not really into rpgs, but I thnk it will be fun to just have a game that I can play on and off and have it last me like a year.I'll probably check out Calling All Cars too as that looks like a pretty fun multiplayer game. Reminds me a little of how GTA2 was, and that game was so fun to play multiplayer.
2/26/2007 9:56:07 AM
^ Have you played the Motorstorm demo? I used to just think it was just pretty good until I saw that you could steer with the sixaxis. It made the game so much more fun and is definitely a must pick up now. Plus all of the reviews so far on IGN have said it is one of the most fun racing games ever.In other news you can preorder a PS3 with Linux on it:http://www.linuxdevices.com/news/NS7863481537.html
2/26/2007 10:14:37 AM
Yeah I've played the demo and its really fun. If the game plays exactly like that with good online play (no lag) then the game is going to be just fine for me.From what I've seen though it looks like it is going to be graphically better in many ways, so I'm pumped.

I think this whole "fanboy" thing and the "console war" is just about the most lame thing I have ever heard of. I can't believe people get up an arms about their console of choice and talk trash, go on you tube, etc.
2/27/2007 10:11:48 AM
i find the whole thing funny...wii is beating both into the ground so far.... that said, ill be waiting till gt5 comes out and/or price drop.... not gonna spend $600 on a video game console...
2/27/2007 10:16:57 AM
There are some good games on the way for sure (NBA street, MotorStorm, Lair, Calling All Cars), which is a relief. What I'm most excited about, though, is the promised firmware update (due on or around the Euro Launch: 3/23).It is going to add all the things that should've been included at launch: multitasking, download queues, download resumes, integrated audio + video chat, PSP remote access via Wifi (the megaton feature) and hopefully they'll iron out a few other things while they're at it (like 720p Blu-Ray playback, please).I've also read some interviews where they give a glimpse of future plans, and they talked about a firmware update slated for fall that will add tivo-like functionality to the PS3. That combined with the PSP wifi connectivity =
2/27/2007 11:36:37 AM
sigh, it's not just $600 for a video game console - it also gets the Blu-Ray player. So an xbox guys says you can get HD-DVD for the xbox? Fine, pay $600 bucks for a premium system and a HD-DVD and then tack on another $100 for wifi. Oh, and the xbox won't actually have games on HD-DVD, just movies. They still can only make games on DVD-sized disks.Anyway, flOw is amazing to play...it's trance-like and with the sixaxis control is pretty damn sweet. The drought for PS3 games ends this month and it looks like a lot of good stuff is on the horizon.

^ You should definitely pick it up. It is only $8. It is not an epic game that will keep you playing for weeks on end but it is worth buying if only because it is such a unique game play experience. I really enjoyed playing through the single player and also playing the multiplayer with friends. If you have noticed the difference in enjoyment in playing Motorstorm with the analog stick verses sixaxis, it takes the fun of sixaxis to another level. Also, I am starting to get more and more anxious for Lair. If they pull off flight with the sixaxis right I think the game will be amazing. The screenshots look great http://www.ultimagame.com/play_station_3/lair/galeriafotos_j1338_0.html[Edited on February 27, 2007 at 12:00 PM. Reason : .]

All the PS3 games are on bluray. Well, all of them that actually come on a disc at least. Games you download obviously aren't on any kind of disc.Lair is starting to intrigue me some, but I'm just excited as hell right now about Motorstorm so I haven't really thought about it. I think I'll pick up Tekken DR on Thursday as well just to have a good cheap fighter on the system. its supposed to be identical in gameplay to the arcade, so that should be hot, plus 1080p support.I'm going to have more than enough games to deal with for a good while starting this week.[Edited on February 27, 2007 at 2:45 PM. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070221-8896.htmlPretty interesting read I came across a couple weeks ago. The long and short of it is Sony spent tons of money to help develop processor for the PS3 that really isn't ideal for video games. Woops.
2/27/2007 2:54:52 PM
i'm pretty sure that i saw some ps3 games that had different packaging than most games to show that they were blu ray. maybe i was mistaken...

i don't see the European launch going well.
2/27/2007 3:19:31 PM
^^interesting.I was reading an article in one of these threads that was pretty ridiculous. It claimed that games didn't need to be on bluray/hd-dvd disks because there were already games out on the regular DVD format that were plenty long (oblivion for example). They were pretty much equating game file size with game length. The larger the file, the longer the game.

new technology costs money, give them timeit's not like they slapped an old console into a new shell and bandaged on a gimmicky new controller and can make pure profit now

I have read that Sony had stated plans to remove this hardware BC as far back as July 2006. As of right now, it is too early to say what type of effect it is going to have on supporting PS2 games on the European machines and how this will alter the European launch.Sony's eventual plan is to completely switch over to software BC for all manufactured PS3s so I would imagine that future firmware will provide BC for almost all PS2 titles if there are some that are not supported come European launch.[Edited on February 27, 2007 at 3:56 PM. so far Sony has said no price cuts for at least 2 years. Already an Xbox 360 price cut is heavily rumored as well as the wii dropping 50 bucks to 199. This is going to hurt Sony. Also, the European launch, while it may have a high number of preorders..think about how many times its been delayed. Also games will cost 59.99 euros which is around 80 bucks US. Thats steep.
2/27/2007 3:45:15 PM
man i hope barbie horse adventure is covered
2/27/2007 3:45:18 PM
As a side note, the more I read about the PS3, the more impressed I am by the overall package it offers and it's potential. If it just had some damn games I'd probably buy one
2/27/2007 3:46:12 PM
seems like wii's would actually have to show up in stores consistently before nintendo even gets close to considering a price cut. Why cut to 199 when you are selling out at 249, and people are willin to pay 375?
