its fucking 3 games into the seasonholy shit you are dumb
9/28/2006 11:10:29 AM
No, you are dumb and obviously cant read. I don't know how many times this needs to be said, the purpose of the thread is that the Texans made the wrong pick ON DRAFT DAY. Nobody knows if either of these players are going to be good, and as I have stated numerous times, the Texans are not going to be good for awhile. So they should have taken a player who would bring attention and excitment to the Texans and also make them a lot of money. There is only a hope that Mario will work out in the long run, there is no short term upside to taking Mario. With Bush, or even Young, you get the short term benefit with a damn good chance at long term too. And by picking either of those players, you attract more fans and make your current fans happy. By taking Mario, you loose fans, and royally piss of the ones you have left.If it were any other team in the NFL, I might be ok with Mario being taken, but when you are the newest team in the league, and are trying to build a fan base, you don't go and fuck it all up by making a pick like Mario.[Edited on September 28, 2006 at 11:18 AM. Exactly, it is too early to tell. Thats why you take the player who can make an immediate impact and pleases your fans. Say they both turn out to be total busts, the Saint's will still have gotten more out of Bush just from ticket sales and fan interest, than the Texans will out of Mario. Why can't you understand that?[Edited on September 28, 2006 at 11:20 AM. Because you just agreed with me! When you don't know the future, you go with the player who offers you the most right now, and that is Bush, not Mario.Im done arguing with you today, I have more than proved my point again. See ya in here tomorrow. You're just to blinding by Marios cock to admit that it was a bad pick.[Edited on September 28, 2006 at 11:24 AM. Reason : .]

Ok, last thing for today, if I am so wrong, then why does pretty much every single person on TV, on the internet, magazines, and newspapers, say that Mario was a bad pick at #1? Are ALL of these people wrong, and the small majority of Mario fans on here are right? Doubtful.

Look Faguyver I have already shown you that several people think it was the right pick. Michael Smith was SCREAMING that Mario was the right pick.Football teams start in the trenches.....the Texans knew they would suck regardless, they are building for the long run, why can't you see that? What is funny is that I like Bush and if you like in the other threads about Bush/Young/whatever I actually argue for him. Why can't they both end up good players?
9/28/2006 11:39:16 AM
9/28/2006 11:41:10 AM
Actually you need to watch the show again....Mariotti said they would still pick Mario #1 right now.But whatever dude. I don't understand your anger towards the situation. WTF do you care?
9/28/2006 11:42:42 AM
I'm not saying that Mario didn't fill the Texans need and I'm not saying he's a bust... but they could have played it smarter. Nobody else would have picked him with the #1. They could have traded down, or just picked Bush and worked out a trade later like the Chargers did with Eli and Philip. They could have saved money by not having to pay him #1 money, and probably picked up an extra pick."You people" are getting way too defensive over this guy. If Mario had been this defensive in the first three games this thread wouldn't even exist.

^^^I have it Tivo'd and am replaying it RIGHT now, so far, the first thing is "not so super" and thats a quote form the Texans head coach!"He's done some good things, but not this week, he knows I am dissapointed in his play"Woody just said "If they had to do it over again, of course they would take Bush or Young"Cowlishaw "Woody is right, thats a bad pick, don't blame Mario for not being Reggie Bush"And then Mariotti just comapred the pick to Bowie over Jordan!!!! and called Mario a bust already.

Vince Young has really turned the Titans around too. They should have picked Leinart to be with Chow.Do you see me making a thread about it?

Mario LeafWon't be long till someone starts calling him that.^No, because Vince was a better pick than Leinhart[Edited on September 28, 2006 at 11:58 AM. Reason : ,]

The GM was fired, so what? Making the right decision isn't always making the popular decision. Judging whether someone was correct based on other's reaction to it would have you believe that Abraham Lincoln was wrong because he was assassinated. Having said that, we can't say whether it was right or wrong until well into the future (which is what everyone is trying to tell you), and I am not saying Mario was the right pick, just that using a faulty argument doesn't make your point stronger. There's tons of variables that can factor into this, one may be a hall of famer and lead his team to Superbowls while the other flops or worse gets a career ending injury. Short term Bush would have been a better pick, but thinking short term is exactly why some teams remain terrible. In these three games we haven't seen all that much from either, but the clear winner at this point is Bush. Sure, Bush splits time with Deuce, but he has the most receptions from a running back, the 30th most rush attempts and tied for 13th overall punt return attempts, so he's still touching the ball a lot. But, he hasn't been all that productive. He is middle of the pack in all those statistics and as others have mentioned he has yet to score any points against mostly mediocre defenses.Likewise, Mario hasn't been all that productive, but in his defense he has faced multiple-time Pro Bowl Left Tackles with an average of 8 years experience every week and has faced consistant double teams because he's the only truly threatening player on that line. He also faced veteran QB's in Mark Brunell, Peyton Manning, and Donovon McNabb. On the other hand, Miami has been absolutely horrible in terms of QB protection, so if he can't produce much against them then I'd be a little concerned.Besides, I can't blame Houston for picking Mario Williams after seeing what they missed out on with Julius Peppers. Mario may never be that good, but he's the first person since that draft to have the real potential to.

Sports Illustrated has a list of the top ten rookies through the first three weeks. Reggie Bush is #1 which I'm not really sure if I agree he is the best overall rookie so far. Mario is not in the top ten but Manny Lawson is at #9. Good publicity for NC State.http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0609/gallery.nfl.rookiewatch4/content.10.html[Edited on September 29, 2006 at 4:37 PM. Reason : ]

i don't see why anyone ever takes anything MacGuyver says on this site to be worth a damn6 months ago he was saying Philip Rivers was a complete bust and that his NFL career was over
9/29/2006 4:53:07 PM
Well so far he really hasn't done anything either. He is the product of a good team at this point. And I was prolly a little out of line, and Rivers had yet to play, but Mario has been playing, and so far, he has done nothing prove that he isn't a bust. Maybe if they didn't play pathetic in the NFL, I wouldn't have to.Torry Holt excluded. You've never heard me say shit about him, he is a damn good player, and lived up to his hype.[Edited on September 29, 2006 at 4:59 PM. Reason : .]

dude just admit that if Mario Williams played for OSU you wouldn't have a damn word to say
9/29/2006 5:00:01 PM
You guys can defend him all you want. Mario wasn't #1 pick worthy when he was here and he's yet to prove he was #1 pick worthy in the NFL.He's the kind of pick you expect to be made in the NBA. Not the NFL.
9/29/2006 5:00:49 PM
No, I would, Clarette was better than Mario in college, and I have no problem saying he is a piece of shit, now. And if Reggie Bush had played for NCSU, every single one of you would be on here bitching about Mario going #1, and you know it. Like someone said before, the Texans should have just traded down and they could have still gotten Mario, for cheaper, and without putting as much pressure on him. That in itself is why it was the wrong pick, why would you not want the same guy for less money?[Edited on September 29, 2006 at 5:03 PM. Reason : .]
9/29/2006 5:01:20 PM
i honestly don't think he should have been picked #1, but there are lots of #1 picks who don't churn out insane numbers their rookie year. None of the top 5 draft picks I've seen have done anything all that remarkable this season, including AJ Hawk
9/29/2006 5:05:24 PM
Thank you, thats all I wanted to hear.Im honestly not trying to say he isn't going to be great in the future. But knowing everything the Texans knew pre draft between Mario and Bush or even Young, Bush and Young were the obvious choices over Mario. Sure Mario could turn out to be better than Bush, but back then, and even right now, Bush appears to be the right choice.[Edited on September 29, 2006 at 5:08 PM. Reason : .]

9/29/2006 5:09:08 PM
Vick is an average passer, with exceptional footwork and athleticismthere are about 7 Qbs in the NFL i'd pick before him

lol, 7

^8 tackles
