MY POINT IS THAT IF THEY COULD SET A TRAP FOR WILL SMITH THEY COULD DO IT FOR THE DEER TOO.
12/29/2007 8:34:31 PM
DEER DON'T HAVE HIGHER LEVEL REASONING SKILLS TO OVERTHINK OBVIOUS TRAPS
12/29/2007 8:36:35 PM
THE MOVIE IS GOING TO BREAK AWAY FROM THE MAIN ACTION TO SHOW HOW THE ZOMBIES WOULD RANDOMLY TRAP DEER
12/29/2007 9:15:33 PM
IT IS SOMETHING THAT WILL SMITH COULDN'T HELP BUT NOTICING AFTER 3 YEARS, AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED IF THEY HAD

^^I'll post my comeback complete with all caps and bookended by the roll eyes just as soon as I figure out what you are trying to say with that.^Exactly. I guess it escapes some people.[Edited on December 29, 2007 at 9:47 PM. Reason : -]

if you read my posts, i'm not really arguing that the vampires didn't set the trap... the movie just doesn't provide much evidence to suggest they have that ability.
12/29/2007 10:27:40 PM
i almost feel sorry for people who can't leave the extremely cynical and critical sections of their brains at home when seeing movies like this.

i downloaded the ebook this morning, a damn good read. i've only read about 1/3 of it but thus far it goes into more detail around the emotional turmoil surrounding his isolation. the vampires assemble in front of his house every evening and taunt him in an attempt to lure him out of the house. they call him by name and the women make lewd gestures. theres a weird sexual tension between neville and the she-vamps throughout the duration. the whole thing ads a plot dynamic the (3rd) movie really could've benefited from.

Fun fact! The mannequin that Will Smith is always afraid to talk to is standing in front of the porno section. When he goes to talk to her, you can see many notable porn movies, for example: Flashpoint.
12/30/2007 11:51:22 AM
I noticed that!

backpedal?i am notorious for playing the devil's advocate here on TWW. some call it trolling, but usually i'm arguing a side of the argument that I don't necessarily believe.I just watched the movie again, and it was still not clear that the vampire things set the trap. there was just as much evidence that they did as for the other hypothesis that will smith was out of his mind.
12/30/2007 5:28:42 PM
^that backpedal was much better than the first attempt.
12/30/2007 5:31:42 PM
my point still stands though. there is nothing in the movie to suggest the vampire things are remotely capable of setting a trap like that.
12/30/2007 5:36:09 PM
^^^ devil's advocate or no, only a retard could come to the conclusion that it was anything other than the zombie dude that set the trap.

They can't stand the garlic he puts everywhere.andAll this discussion about the trap is proof the movie sucked.

will smith was dangling in front of their hole/door all damn day. you would think they could have noticed him in that amount of time.
12/31/2007 12:13:07 PM
And come out and get him in the sun light.Right?

Don't talk about the book please. This movie has little in common with it.

I loved it and I think this movie has shown me that Will Smith has arrived for an oscar. His acting was so natural!!!
12/31/2007 2:46:54 PM
I enjoyed this movie thoroughly.Might have been better without all the ads (iRobot anyone?) and the cookie cutter resolution.

what the fuck are you talking about???OBVIOUSLY THEY WAITED TO RELEASE THE HOUNDS UNTIL THEY COULD ACTUALLY GET TO HIM
1/1/2008 4:13:23 PM
?...
1/1/2008 4:15:37 PM
^^OBVIOUSLY THEY SET THE TRAP, SINCE THEY WOULDN'T GET TO THE TRAP IF IT WAS LIGHT, WILL SMITH WOULDN'T SET IT IN THE LIGHT AND HE WOULDN'T BE OUT THERE IN THE DARK WHEN THEY COULD ACTUALLY GET TO IT.
1/2/2008 2:09:49 AM
granted, i do see your point, but that's pretty weak evidence when you see NO other behavior/ability/cognition as sophisticated as that from the vampires anywhere else in the movie.
1/2/2008 9:23:46 AM
You mean the part where the main vampire pretty much organizes an assault on Will Smith's house.I mean, when they showed the same lame ass CGI character fifteen different times were you thinking "boy they sure don't give will the same budget they used too!!11"

look, maybe, just maybe, you could argue there is a very minor possibility thtt the trap was one of his that he fucked up on and didnt dput a shade (i disagree with this for the record) BUT, at the very least, it is indisputable that the vamps moved the mannequin to that location as bait for will smith and were hoping for him to trigger the trap. how is a mannequin vampire bait at all??
1/4/2008 12:13:23 PM
he used one on the dock as vampire bait when he went suicidal crazy after his dog died.
1/4/2008 1:46:03 PM
Plot hole.
1/4/2008 1:57:04 PM
I just read the book. It was only slightly less lame than the movie. This shit didn't deserve to be a major movie -- it should have been an episode on the outer limits, at most.
1/5/2008 12:30:56 AM
you go to hell and you die
1/5/2008 12:35:04 AM
ha. The book suffers from the same problem as LOTR. Even though it was one of the first in the genre and probably influenced a lot of shit, the genre has been refined so much that the original story doesn't stand up well against modern stories in the same genre.(it's almost like mutated spawn crowding out the original )[Edited on January 5, 2008 at 12:52 AM. Just saw it.I thought it was entertaining. Ihave the same complaints as everyone else, the cgi and the few plot holes, but I just look past them for the movie's entertainment valueThe one question I had, that no one else has brought up I dont think, was how did they lock themselves inside the glass room, because I thought Will Smith locked the lady cgi IN the room from the OUTSIDE, so how could they lock themselves in the room from the inside?Or did they just close the glass door and the cgi's just didn't have the reasoning capabilities to open the door?
1/5/2008 12:40:52 PM
i'm sure there was a locking mechanism on the inside that probably required higher reasoning to operate
1/5/2008 12:43:28 PM
what ever happened to simple enjoyment of a film? The movie was dope to me, aside from the CGI shit but the crappiness of that was overblown to hell in my opinionthe part where he first sees them in the garage still gives me the heebies and a minor case of the jeebies
1/5/2008 1:21:42 PM
i didn't like that they changed so much about the story but i was more upset that they changed the whole idea behind nevell being a "legend". it was just so.... stupid that they did it like that.
1/6/2008 11:35:18 AM
Again, proving that Hollywood producers are complete idiots:http://forums.gametrailers.com/showthread.php?t=329096The alternate and much better ending to I Am Legend. Why they didn't use this one, I have no idea.
3/6/2008 12:26:13 PM
good find, I think both were pretty weak endings honestly, but the alternate (if it had gotten a little more in depth) could have been the best.[Edited on March 6, 2008 at 12:52 PM. Reason : the shot of all the "subjects" on the wall is a good one.]
