Hmmm. As for who is the single most powerful, it varies tremendously. X-power can be determined by a lot more than just physical force, which is why Xavier is still considered one of the most powerful mutants.

If I had to pick a single most powerful mutant in the X-universe, I'd go with Nate Grey, although I don't know if he's still alive or not. He's Cyclops' and Phoenix's "son" from the Age of Apocalypse. Mr. Sinister researched for years and years in order to find the genetic combination which would provide the most potent of mutant abilities in offspring, and wouldn't you know it, but Scott and Jean are it. Nate pretty much has the power of the Phoenix Force without having to actually *be* part of the Phoenix Force. Nate's biggest flaw was that he lacked the same control over his powers which someone like Xavier had, but his raw power alone was enough to make Xavier fearful of him when he first appeared.

A very close runner-up would probably be Franklin Richards, son of the Fantastic Four's Reed and Sue Richards. If memory serves, Franklin has the ability to construct reality. (I don't fully understand this one since I never read FF.) Franklin's still very young, and the full potential of his power has yet to be explored. The ability to create pocket universes, though, is no small feat.

These two were the primary threats to Xavier during the whole Onslaught nonsense, and thus he set out to immediately neutralize them and use their powers for his own. I'd rank Phoenix Force Jean Grey below them.

Is the power to create a universe where everyone has tremendously large shoulder pads really that great?

Yea, Franklin Richards is basically at the top. The Celestials wanted him to join them awhile back.

When Cable got full control of his TK a couple years ago, he was pretty damn powerful. He and the Silver Surfer got into it, and basically anything that was destroyed during the fight, he immediately reconstructed on a molecular level to prevent all casualties as they occurred... And at the same time he was holding his big ass island/satellite in the air miles over the ocean.

That's basically how strong Nate Grey should have been.

apparently, marvel's going to create its own production company:

http://money.cnn.com/2006/05/29/technology/business2_launchpad0529/index.htm

let's hope hulk 2 doesn't bankrupt them and they end up having to sell the movie licenses for all their characters for really crappy films.

badass--check out some of the other movies marvel's planning:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0270559/

avi arad's production credits have more upcoming movies:

This is somewhat related...

Are they going to use KingPin in any other movies?

I hate to think they waisted Michael Clark Duncan on Daredevil

he was in the Spiderman comics correct?

what about the living tribunal (i think that was his name). i don't remember him in any comics, but on the back of his card he had max abilities in everything except fighting ability. i guess someone like that wouldn't really be a mutant though

He did indeed create it, and it was indeed heinous. Wasn't that Liefeld's idea...?

Ah, someone else reads Cable and Deadpool. Excellent. It's the one and only thing I still read nowadays simply because they always were my two favorite characters in the X-universe (which is extremely odd since I think Liefeld is a complete hack).

Even though Cable did have this magnitude of power, he still wasn't at what could have been his full potential since he is not "complete" like Nate Grey. He does have infinitely more control than Nate, but much less power. Alas, it looks like Cable is on another TK/TP dry spell in the books...

Which reminds me, I still have the complete marvel masterpeice 1995 set minus the foils....

i think it was liefield and jim lee

liefeld took the avengers/capn america half

and jim lee took fantastic four and someone else

but liefeld sucks, so after a couple months they cut him loose and jim lee basically did an entire universe

Ironman was the someone else

The hilarious thing about Liefield's Avengers was that even though they have a team of literally hundreds of characters to reimagine...he decided he needed to try and make up a character, who happened to have a penchant for shoulderpads and big swords.

Was really funny is that even though I don't really like Liefield, X-force during Nicieza was probably my favorite title, especially when Tony Daniels was doing it. Second only to my oft mentioned Ellis/Larocca Excaliber

No damn joke. I read X-Force religiously when Nicieza was at the helm. He's now doing the Cable and Deadpool book, which is why I got into reading them. Right off the bat Cable got his uber-technology back, so I knew things were on the right track. If memory serves, Liefeld did the art for the first 4 issues and they sucked out loud. (Really, the covers are almost embarassing.) The art team they've had since Liefeld's departure has done an excellent job. I still wish that it was in some way possible for Ian Churchill to draw Cable and Deadpool again!

once again

i really think that is the effect of ratner not actually being a comic fan and instead only looking at the recent stories marvel has been putting out

there is a concentrated effort at marvel to make charles xavier a flawed almost evil character, including retconning the shit out of his past

i mean just off the top of my head there is the whole *SPOILER ALERT*

"leaving his first rescue team for dead in order to put together the second "Giant-Size" rescue team" and "enslaving a living creature to make the Danger Room" shit

both of which piss me off to no end

i have no clue how the character is served by making him a dick

Modern story telling says all heros must actualy be anti heros and the only reason we care for them is on a relative scale, their just a hair above the bad guys. In short, there really are no more heros.

Psylocke has like a paragraph of internal dialogue

after she kicks some dude in the face

where she says something like "I could have handled him more easily with my psychic attack, but I love the thrill of the fight! I wonder if it's true what Cyclops says, that I'm an 'action junkie'? I hope that some villain in the future doesn't use this flaw of mine to his or her advantage!"
