watched it earlier todaythought it was better than x-men 3 but that wasn't really hardthe ending was pretty anticlimatic

this shit better not be packed again tommorrow, i'm the only one working door and i really don't want to clean out 4 sold out fucking prints of this.

SPOILERS: ^^ i agree that it was anticlimatic, thought that was the biggest flaw in the movie. That and the fact that there was no real tension between lex and superman. Some small things that annoyed me were the cape fluttering in outerspace, and him falling back to earth after pushing the rock out. If he was far enough out for the rock to keep going, considering the fact that he just kinda went limp and didn't push off, he should not have fallen back to earth. And the hospital scene wasn't necessary. And it kept seeming like it was going to end then there would be a new (usually disjointed) scene.ultimately i liked it though, and would recommend it.

ok so I liked the movie, but I didn't like spacey. He seemed too "dr. evil-y" to me. I just always thought there was an air of sophistication to him that was just missing. I liked the little twists in the movie etc. The ending was good, but I didn't think the movie was long at all. I actually thought it went by pretty quickly. Superman was played well. Lois lane was good too and I was pretty impressed by bosworth's performance. La Femme Nikita was hot as usual. And why was Kumar in the main credits when he didn't speak a damn word?
7/4/2006 2:17:21 AM
yo man let me tell you(spoilers)man if i got superman weak as fuck and shit let me be the first to say i'd kill that mf slowly and completely, i couldnt stand how they just kicked the shit out of him and then let him fall into the oceanman fuck that, you clone some dna or something
7/4/2006 2:20:09 AM
The only way you can compare X3 to Superman is if you only pay attention to action and any plot points of note fly the fuck over your head. X3 had no depth whatsoever.
7/4/2006 2:44:15 AM
That Kumar whatever guy actually has at least two lines. When they are offloading the rocket from the shot-up van he asks what they are going to do with it and then when he is cutting the tip off the crystal Lex is telling him to be careful to which he reponds I know or something like that. After having to watch that movie a dozen times or so at work I've started coming up with little things like that.
7/4/2006 3:12:35 AM
that movie was such a waste of my time, I am so glad I had a free ticket to see it
7/4/2006 8:29:46 AM
The biggest dissapointment was that the movie focused on Louis Lane too much for it to be an epic tale of the battles between superman and Lex Luther. Somewhere between Kent's discovery of lane's family and her getting caught on the same boat with Lex, superman becomes just a schmuck that was used.
7/4/2006 10:54:59 AM
I'm assuming that Lois knows Clark is Superman in this movie???
7/4/2006 11:01:08 AM
^no...she doesn't
7/4/2006 11:02:54 AM
How the fuck...did you even watch the movie?
7/4/2006 11:03:36 AM
is that response to me? Or wanaflap?
7/4/2006 11:05:27 AM
wanaflap, sorry.

I saw this a few days ago, and I liked it. All the actors played their parts well, and the action scenes and special effects were pretty cool. The ending felt like it dragged on a little bit, but overall the movie didn't feel too long. I'd definitely recommend at least one viewing of this movie, and at least one encore. There were a couple of things that bothered me, though, some of which I'm sure have been pointed out already. (spoilers ahead). When Supes pushed the giant rock into space and it floated out, how come he fell back down to earth? If they were that far beyond the earth's gravitational well, shouldn't Superman have floated along in space as well? And speaking of the rock, how was he even able to push it at all? I was under the impression that he lost his strength and powers in the presence of kryptonite. Or did Singer do a reinterpretation of this? The other thing that bothers me was when he was flying in to save the plane. He was pulling against one of the wings to get the plane to stop spinning around and stabilize it, but the wing obviously snapped under the stress. Wouldn't it have made more sense for him to have pushed against the aft of the plane? It's larger and probably more structurally sound than the wings, and so he could've done the same job without the risk of the wings falling off.As for the cape fluttering in space, I figure that he's still in the atmosphere, albeit probably in the outter most reaches of it. He could still listen in on the activities of earth, a feat obviously impossible in the vacuum of space, and so there must've been some atmosphere surrounding him. This would also allow the cape to flutter. But if Superman's hearing is that sensitive, how come sounds down on the ground don't overwhelm him and cause him pain or make him deaf to that level of sensitivity?[Edited on July 4, 2006 at 11:12 AM. 7/4/2006 11:23:46 AM
yep he can control when to use his super hearing and where to "aim it"...and he doesn't have time to ponder the engineering of a plane when he is trying to save it and in the comics, he often "supercharges" himself...sometimes he would even fly INTO the sun to get an extra "boost" in power...as if he wasn't the man already
7/4/2006 12:03:41 PM
so those that have seen it twice was it as good the second time?

I didn't think super heros are supposed to be realistic.
7/4/2006 2:05:51 PM
^^ lol was that sarcasm or were you being serious?
7/4/2006 2:55:44 PM
oh it was serious. atleast someone has a good reason that makes sense
7/4/2006 3:24:46 PM
I totally agree. Many times, Superman seems to have powers of arbitrary strength to fit whatever situation he's put in. He can accomplish virtually anything, unless, of course, it makes a better story for him to be unable to accomplish it. The only thing that makes him interesting is his loneliness and depression (think Kingdom Come), but that isn't dealt with as much as it should be. When you get down to it, he's a fundamentally uninteresting character to me.
7/4/2006 3:29:30 PM
His near-invulnerability puts him in his own echelon, far above all other heroes. It adds to his massively epic ethos and makes him the guy that everyone can believe in. He's flawless, he's "always around," he's a no-compromise character who embodies altruism, righteousness, and good. This also means his battles can be far more epic in scale, such as removing a new continent from Earth to save North America. The X-Men wouldn't be able do jack about that situation except sit around and whine about their flaws and soap-opera lives. Superman is clean of that. He's the always the cavalry. His focus can always be pure. That said, he clearly was struggling with lonliness in this movie, but you'll notice it never affected what he had to do.
7/4/2006 4:23:47 PM
I could definitely see how X3 would do better than this movie. For one it has the first two backing it up, and X2 made me really anticipate 3 (yes, you could argue that this Superman has two before it, but really...). I've never read the comics and I was looking forward to seeing what the Phoenix is all about. Another reason, as clearly shown throughout these pages, is that Routh is not Reeve, and that's all people want to see with Superman. So some people aren't interested in seeing this new movie, or are at the least skeptical of it, so many people could be waiting for their friends and others to see it before looking into it themselves.

i liked all the random corny gagsand they made kevin spacey look alot like gene hackmanthat was creepy
7/4/2006 11:01:17 PM
I'm gonna tell you why Superman hasn't done as well as it should've. The first reason being the franchise itself hasn't got a strong backing. The only people who are already fans are the people who saw it. Second, having a ridiculous amount of action figures to back it up, doesn't mean anything, parents aren't gonna take their kids to a 3 hr long movie. It's just not gonna happen. It sucks for the studio but that's just how Bryan Singer is...
7/4/2006 11:24:52 PM
i just want him to make another superman movie, i bet his second one would be bad ass
7/4/2006 11:33:30 PM
^ If he doesn't, I'm fine with just Superman Returns. If he does, I'll be in line the day it comes out.
