7/22/2006 5:00:28 PM
It's time to put the stamp on the division this weekend. Pedro, El Duque, and Glavine gonna shut the Squaws down...
7/27/2006 9:37:09 PM
Well unless the Braves sweep, then it is definitely over. Even taking 2 out of 3 against the Mess won't be good enough. Atleast if the Braves do take the series, the mess fans can't complain that they didn't have their best pitchers going.
7/28/2006 10:52:11 AM
god the NL is horrible
7/28/2006 11:01:02 AM
you can say that again
7/28/2006 11:05:24 AM
^^ Wow you are so insightful. Why the fuck did that need to be posted? Everyone knows the NL is having a down year - I guess everyone should quit playing and let the White Sox and Tigers battle for the World Series!!
7/28/2006 11:09:38 AM
lighten up francis
7/28/2006 11:10:26 AM
^^ pretty much
7/28/2006 11:31:48 AM
I'm just saying that you have to be pretty delusional if you don't think that the Mets can't beat ANY AL team in a 7 game series. Not saying they WILL but they certainly have a team that, when playing well, can. They have an AL type offense and 3 bonafide bigtime playoff pitchers. Sure they are old but they are VERY experienced. You can go on and on about how the NL sucks but that doesn't mean there isn't a team or two capable of winning the World Series. You know how the playoffs are.[Edited on July 28, 2006 at 11:37 AM. Reason : x]
7/28/2006 11:36:37 AM
^ Right on. All it really takes is a couple of pitchers throwing well and some clutch hitting. See the D-Backs in 01.
7/28/2006 12:09:26 PM
that is retarded Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling were the 2 best pitchers in the game at the timeno relevencethere is no 1 NL pitcher that spectacular on any roster
7/28/2006 12:24:05 PM
phil lollins is dealin today, dealin TRUTH
7/28/2006 12:40:42 PM
^^ So Pedro is not spectacular? Neither is Clemens or Carpenter? What about Glavine? Or Smoltz - the winningest postseason pitcher of all time. Oswalt? Anyone of those pitchers could shut down any AL lineup in the World Series. Granted those guys might not have the stats of some of the young arms in the AL Central, but they have experience and all have been in the postseason.[Edited on July 28, 2006 at 12:44 PM. Reason : ^ ]
7/28/2006 12:43:42 PM
if i had to pick one pitcher to win one gameit wouldn't be any of the guys you listed
7/28/2006 12:44:58 PM
^^clemens didn't shut down jack shit in the world series last year, mo-ran
7/28/2006 12:49:14 PM
^^ Who you going to take? Schilling? Liriano? Santana? If Pedro is healthy, then I'll take him over anyone the White Sox, Tigers, or Twins is sending out. Granted Santana, Liriano, Verlander can be sick at times, but there is no way to know how they'll perform under pressure. I'd put money on Pedro winning me Game 7 before I put money on the AL Central guys.^ Fine Clemens sucked in the postseason. The White Sox were ridiculously hot which further supports NyM410's point that any team can win the World Series regardless. Nobody picked the White Sox to win last year, but there pitching was unreal and their hitting was clutch.
7/28/2006 12:58:21 PM
i'd say there's a better chance of liriano, santana, or verlander being lights out than there is of pedro being healthy
7/28/2006 1:07:05 PM
^ Probably true, but when healthy he is the best pitcher in baseball.
7/28/2006 2:43:23 PM
^^ he'll be healthy. This month off will do him worlds of good down the stretch. Plus with no real race he can get some rest in September.. which is something nearly every other team (save the Tigers at this point if they continue to build their lead) won't get the benefit of.
7/28/2006 2:52:48 PM

ill put this in this thread because it is nl east related...phils traded abreau to the yanks for 4 prospects today before their doubleheader with the marlins
7/30/2006 6:44:02 PM
I gotta give it to the Mets - they have a amazing lineup and solid bullpen. Glavine and Pedro were shaky, but that is explainable (Glavine seems to always struggle in Atlanta and Pedro was coming back from injury). I didn't want to give up hope on my Braves, but it's over now. Atleast this Mets team is likeable unlike the Bonilla, Ventura, Piazza, Bobby Valentine, etc teams. Wright, Reyes, Beltran, Lo Duca, Delgado, Glavine, etc are great players and they all play hard. I wish the Braves weren't going to have to see that Beltran-Wright-Reyes combo for the next 6 (or however many years Beltran is signed for) years.
7/31/2006 9:46:25 AM
what's going on with glavine lately? is he nursing an injury?
7/31/2006 11:59:27 AM
Pedro is back to being Pedro.Reyes signed a 4 year $23M contract with an option for a 5th.. fantastic deal for both sides. GG Omar!
8/3/2006 8:29:17 PM
Good time to be a Mets fan. Plz to bring the World Series to the NL East. Thx.
8/4/2006 10:28:37 AM
Mets now have a worse record than the Yankees by a game. Just goes to show that it is a long season.
