haha.... TWW has it's very own OGT. how does it feel to have a song about you? oh that's right.... you're so OGT that you haven't heard anything after Undertow.lyrics from the toolshed forum interpretations... probably aren't 100% but pretty close.http://toolshed.down.net/lyrics/10kdayslyrics.php

After reading the lyrics to Wings 1 & 2, I love them even more.
5/5/2006 10:37:04 PM
^Yeah, it's really a song you have to "get" to really enjoy.
5/5/2006 11:05:19 PM
^^makes me wonder if maynard feels bad about that judith song now too
5/6/2006 12:45:04 AM
yea i was trying to analyze exactly how i felt about those lyrics myself.

This CD is really awesome...immediately loved Jambi, Right in Two, The Pot, Vicarious...but as I've listened, Wings for Marie, Rosetta Stoned, 10,000 Days...the whole damn thing.

i question the authenticity of that. Notice no one comes out for the first guy, but when the second guy gets on stage there is guy out there right away. Could be because now they're paying a little more attention but still raises doubt. Also look at the guy that catches the hiptoss. You ever see someone get on stage then stand perfectly still infront of a band member? And the way he is standing is perfect for a hiptoss and he kind of waits for it. And none of the other guys miss a single note. Some guy comes on stage and your singer gives him a hiptoss, to rear-naked choke hold, to side mount, i mean that takes some confidence to keep your composure, that or you knew there was no real threat. Then it cuts off right before the guy in the black jacket is about the talk. Why wouldn't security just come get the guy from maynard and then maynard tell people not to be stupid. Don't know if it's real or not but there is certainly some doubt in my mind.
5/7/2006 3:12:53 PM
anyone see the video of maynard in the 80'sblack bass players rule

Good morning, I'm Dr. Watson. How are you today? How are you today? Look son, you're in a safe place, we want to help you, in whatever way we can. But you need to talk us, we can't help you otherwise. Now, what's happened? Tell me everything.[Edited on May 8, 2006 at 1:32 AM. Reason : l]

right in two is a really great song and thats the last one on the albumtool always has some trippy audio filler stuff but you got to take in ot account it's still prob the average length of music for a full album
5/9/2006 11:27:35 PM
^exactly. The only songs that I think are throwaway tracks are Viginti Tres and Lipan Conjuring.....that accounts for only like 6 minutes of the album. There is still like 70 minutes of actual music left on the album....which is a lot longer that what most bands put out nowadays.
5/10/2006 12:04:51 PM
throwaways include:intensionright in twolost keysrosetta stonedlipan conjuringvignti treshate to say it.
5/10/2006 12:29:17 PM
^^id take quality over quantity any day.imo, opiate is much more enjoyable then 10,000 days.
5/10/2006 12:30:42 PM
if only opiate didn't sound so much like shit...
5/10/2006 12:31:56 PM
opiate is not better than 10,000 daysi'd listen to any of the first 6 songs on 1 0,000 days over any song on opiate (except the song opiate)So now that everyone has listened to 10,000 days, how would you rank Tools albums?mine goes...undertow < opiate ~ salival < 10,000 days < lateralus which is almost as good as aenima
5/10/2006 12:39:46 PM
lateralus > aenima > undertow~10,000 days > opiate
5/10/2006 12:57:13 PM
hmm... based on the mixed reviews, i'll get the allofmp3 version, i was actually planning on buying the retail version.I'd rank my favorite Tool albums:Opiate>Aenima>Undertow {huge gap} > Lateralus.I don't get the Opiate sounds like shit comment.. how so? Not hating, just curious. It's not that much of a difference from Undertow.
5/10/2006 1:04:38 PM
yeah, i know. you can include undertwo as well, then.they are just poorly recorded, imho.
5/10/2006 1:08:39 PM
aenima > lateralus > undertow > everything else including 10,000 days is about tied here
5/10/2006 1:13:21 PM
the sound quality of opiate is shit (due to half the songs being live), but the quality of the songs is much better then 10,000 days, imo.by a long shot, 10,000 days is my least favorite album. as i said before, the whole album is just "blah" to me. each tool album so far has had an interesting change in sound, or certain things that make it stand out from the preceding album (even if i dont like the newer album as much).....i dont hear that in 10,000 days. the riffs are tired and uninteresting, the lyrics dont do anything for me, and there wasn't a single time when listening to the album when i said to myself, "damn, thats cool". everytime ive listened to it, ive had to force myself to listen to listen until the end, hoping that it would grow on me or i would notice something new....but that hasnt happened. theres not even one song that i would want to listen to again and again.i realize that this is purely my opinion, and i may try to listen to it a few more times, but so far, its not something i would really ever enjoy listening to.
5/10/2006 1:14:34 PM
i agree it gives the album a feeling, but I think undertow would benefit from a remastering.
5/10/2006 1:20:19 PM
BLASPHEMY!
5/10/2006 1:20:42 PM
I do like "The Pot" off this album, and it kinda reminds me of opiate/undertow Tool.
5/10/2006 1:23:17 PM
Lateralus>Aenima>Undertow>10,000 Days>Opiate I don't care what a lot of the "fans" think, music just doesn't get a whole lot better than Lateralus. With that said, I've still really enjoyed listening to 10,000 Day. It's as solid as any of Tool's work, and there is nothing wrong with the music. Jambi, Wings, The Pot are all excellent songs. Intension has grown on me, as has Right in Two. I do agree though that it didn't really do much toward evolving Tool's sound any further, which all the other albums did. It's basically Lateralus 5 years later.[Edited on May 10, 2006 at 2:32 PM. Reason : 5]

Undertow>Aenima>Lateralus>10,000 Days>OpiateMaybe 10,000 Days will grow on me.

Rosetta Stoned is pretty mediocre until the final build to where Maynard starts singing at about 8:40.The beginning of Right In Two is pretty good as well, but other parts of it are pretty unremarkable.
5/14/2006 2:31:48 PM
Lateralus is beyond words for sure... as for 10,000 days, i enjoy it yet i need to be more familair with it before i comment. Either way, thank god for TOOL.
5/15/2006 3:10:25 AM
I can't get enough of track 7 and track 8 (rosetta stoned), they go together like parabol / parabola for sure. Its about an alien abduction and in track 7 its about him like waking up. Trippy album, loving it so far.[Edited on May 15, 2006 at 4:05 PM. Reason : i think faster than i type]

I would like to see another aenima-esque albumeulogy is such an awesome fucking songthis cd was kind of a let down
5/16/2006 2:47:03 PM
i think this is gonna be their 2nd to the last albumI hope their last CD is a 2 disc album
5/17/2006 3:14:30 PM
that would be cool, however id rather have 1 amazing album than 2 mediocre albums
5/17/2006 3:21:59 PM
nah, i'm sure their last album will be a 2 disc masterpiece
5/17/2006 3:56:54 PM
It doesn't matter what it is... people will still bitch because it's either not enough like their favorite album, or it's too much like their favorite album.
5/17/2006 4:16:31 PM
^truei absolutely hate it how people now are saying they dont like 10,000 days and want it to be more like aenima or lateralusit's not like aenima or lateralus and in some ways i think its better
5/17/2006 4:27:14 PM
i like 10,000 days. it's different. it's not better, not worse, just different...and i think that's what they're (tool) aiming for.
5/17/2006 5:14:29 PM
it sucks because of the quality...not comparing it to any other tool album. stand alone, it sucks. sorry, fan boys. i love tool, but much like every weezer cd after pinkerton, i dont consider 10000 days a part of my tool catalog.
5/17/2006 5:23:34 PM
ok man
5/17/2006 5:39:11 PM
This new tool cd for some reason reminds me too much APC
5/17/2006 5:59:31 PM
^^^did you throw the album away? otherwise i dont see how you can just not consider it part of their catalog.[Edited on May 17, 2006 at 6:05 PM. Reason : ]
5/17/2006 6:05:16 PM
not comparing it to any other tool album. stand alone, it's solid. sorry, OGTs. it might not be their best but that is no surprise. when your best is as good as tool's, you can't top your best every time you put out an album. no band with longevity has ever done that and no band with longevity ever will.musically, it sounds nothing like APC.
