I don't think New Avengers has been that bad. The Ronin story/reveal sucked, but otherwise I have no complaints. If you're that unhappy with it, don't worry. The team is getting yet another overhaul after Civil War.

6/28/2006 7:56:39 PM
^^ Yea, the Ronin thing was kinda abysmal as well. I'm interested in the overhaul; I want to see whos still on the team/whos not.I think finding out more about Spiderwoman will be interesting. I hpe they get back to it.
6/28/2006 9:33:57 PM
Did you read the mini? It was kinda meh, but the onoing is going to be done by the Bendis/Maleev combo that rocked Daredevel pretty damn hard.
6/28/2006 9:48:19 PM
Naah, havent read the mini. I am more inclined to read the ongoing series. I used to read her old 70's stuff when I was 13. I'd like to read the new Bendis stuff.
6/28/2006 10:05:35 PM
I've only read the first two arcs of New Avengers (tpb, yo)... So is there a consensus on how it's turning out? I dunno if I'm going to keep buying it.Another series that started out great but I haven't kept up with is Ultimate FF. The first three tpb's were great, but I got my hands on a friend's copies of some of the later stuff and wasn't very impressed. And has the Ultimate Galactus dealie ever happened? The last time I read anything about that was the first couple issues of Ultimate Secret. I've kinda been waiting for it all to come out before I buy Ultimate Nightmare and Ultimate Secret.
6/29/2006 8:50:12 AM
^ I think its Ultimate Extinction you're talking about.I didn't pick up or read the earlier Ultimate FF stuff you're talking about. I have however picked up the last 3 arcs that Greg Land did. The art is great. The stories are interesting for a few reasons. They're doing 3-issue arcs in the series. The first 2 issues of the arcs are jam packed and very exciting and then the third books are really anticlimactic. I've stopped picking up Ultimate FF. Great art but not worth the money.
6/29/2006 12:22:26 PM
yeah they finished the ultimate extinction thingi dunno but i just didn't really find it all that fulfilling a storyit was an interesting spin on it though
6/29/2006 12:28:52 PM
Ultimate FF is up and down. The last arc with the time travel and the President Thor and all that bulljive was pretty lame. But the current arc has Dr. Doom and THE ZOMBIE FANTASTIC FOUR!^I agree. I was expecting more out of Ellis after how stong Ultimate Nightmare was.[Edited on June 29, 2006 at 1:29 PM. Reason : ]
6/29/2006 1:28:43 PM
^ I really liked the Zombie FF, thats what intially got me hooked.I was into the namor thing then he says "give me a kiss" and then he takes off. That was bullshit.President Thor was a waste of time.
6/29/2006 1:39:11 PM
something odd i found at http://www.acmenoveltyarchive.org/it's a alex ross painting of chris ware's super-man and jimmy corriganbizarre indeed
7/3/2006 5:23:26 PM
^ Thats a neato cover.I'm really digging the Civil War stuff. I also got the Civil War Frontline and the Wolverine, Spiderman and New Avengers books. Top notch stuff. Too bad they come out at different times and are out of order.
7/4/2006 12:47:04 PM
they need to step up the pace on ultimate hulk vs.wolverineit's been what, 8 months with only two issues?
7/5/2006 5:28:43 PM
They need to publish a worthwhile comic in general.
7/5/2006 5:29:41 PM
I found a froshhair in the trade I bought from him the other day.It was like finding one of those fake tatoos in a box of crackjacks.[Edited on July 5, 2006 at 5:32 PM. Reason : crackjacks!]

That's not true! Many Marvel titles make my pull list lately: The Young Avengers, Runaways, and Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane to name a few!
7/8/2006 11:44:02 PM
frosh is jham???holy shitnever figured that one out
7/9/2006 12:01:32 AM
Yes, I can see how the "Real Name : Jonathan Hamilton" in my profile might have thrown you off.
7/9/2006 12:13:56 AM
isn't mini-hulk gay for mini-thor or something?changling and asgardian i think?
7/9/2006 12:34:41 AM
i dont pay attention to stuff like that. i usually dont stalk profiles either.its just that ive had to help pull your damn comic books for the last year
7/9/2006 1:04:41 AM
Jesus, I must have generated a hell of a workload for you. I bet when I started showing up at lunch instead of the late evening, it was annoying.
7/9/2006 7:23:47 PM
i hope that was sarcasm because it seriously never bothered me.i just found it odd that you didnt have a pull list but that you would email the things you wanted every week.
7/9/2006 8:54:28 PM
I never e-mailed anything. You're thinking of someone else. I usually come in on Mondays or Tuesdays and recite what I want pulled to John. Here, this is me:[Edited on July 9, 2006 at 9:29 PM. Reason : ...]
7/9/2006 9:26:26 PM
oh, i just assumed you emailed it to him since he had a list every wednesday for yabut i know who ya arenews from me:had to drop runaways. just wasnt keeping my attention for the last few issuesuncanny was definitely letting me down, but the new writing team has promise AND Warpath is back!52 is wishywashy. some good things, som bad things about it. i just keep getting it because i want to know what the heck happened over that year.im hating this young avengers hiatus for a few months until they get into "season 2"
7/9/2006 11:11:55 PM
You really, really, really, really should read the latest issue of Runaways if your only complaint is that it lost your interest.
7/10/2006 2:07:53 AM
just thought i'd throw in that Cerebral Hobbies, a comic/hobby shop in Chapel Hill, is going out of business and has a 35% to 40% off everything sale for the rest of the month.for more info or directions:http://cerebralhobbies.com/
7/10/2006 2:33:33 AM
i cheated and read most of it then decided to put it down. it's like exiles was a a year or so ago for me. the concept and the characters were interesting. then, all of a sudden, it just stopped getting my attention.
7/10/2006 10:18:23 AM
But did you see the way the issue ended?!
7/10/2006 12:17:55 PM
Uncanny is worth a try for Brubaker alone. A 12-issue arc is going to be kind of risky if the intent is to get new readers. You're basically advertising that you'll be waiting a year for a truly significant payoff. But Brubaker made me care about Captain America for the first time ever and his run on Daredevil has been right up there with what Bendis was doing. So I'm in for this. The real question is whether I should start picking up X-Men and see what Carey does with a linup involving Rogue, Iceman, Mystique, Cable, and Cannonball...I hate reformed villains 9 times out of 10 and I'm not a fan of Cable even a little bit. It's going to be rough convincing myself to pick up a book where Rogue, Iceman, and Cannonball are the only characters I can stomach.Speaking of X-books, when is Whedon's Astonishing X-Men going to start taking place within continuity?
7/10/2006 12:30:15 PM
^ I think Whedon said in a podcast that his book isn't going to be really affected by what happened in House of M or the rest of the continuity. As for X-Men, I don't think I'd be able to read "X-Force" all over again. Cable, and Cannonball are B-list characters to me. I never liked Cable.I'm willing to wait for the trade of Uncanny, all the Shi-ar junk never really captivated me (with the exception of the Dark Phoenix Saga stuff.)
7/10/2006 5:23:50 PM
Don't you think that the flagship book should take place within continuity?I'm enjoying reading it and all, but he's working a pretty big storyline right now and it needs to affect things in the long run. It's one thing to say "I'm going to ignore the House of M consequences because Sentinels hanging out outside the mansion because they're lame and I'm Joss Whedon." It's another to say "I can do whatever I want because nerds love Buffy, even if it's only every other month when my book comes out."
7/10/2006 5:50:42 PM
What makes you say Astonishing is the flagship X-Men title?
7/10/2006 5:53:49 PM
Wolverine + Cyclops + Colossus + Beast > Nightcrawler & friends >>>>>> Cannonball & friends.Flagship.
7/10/2006 5:55:28 PM
Wait, aren't those characters appearing in continuity in other books anyway? I know Wolverine is a member of the New Avengers.
7/10/2006 5:58:00 PM
Wolverine is everywhere. At one point, he was on every X-team at once. The rest of them were in and out of X-Men when it was in it's post House of M fluid state. But even there the focus was on the ultra-shitty Iceman-Havok-Polaris love triangle.
7/10/2006 8:32:02 PM
eh, to me its just like batman and detective, superman and action.sometimes its continuity, sometimes its not.but the whole is emma frost evil or not is bothering me because she is in 1, not in the other, and then shes suddenly disappeared in uncanny.
7/10/2006 10:46:16 PM
Batman, Detective Comics, Action Comics and Superman are all in-continuity, all the time.
7/11/2006 6:04:22 PM
liar
7/11/2006 6:09:31 PM
wrong
7/11/2006 7:18:59 PM
Carey's first issue is getting raves from a guy I know who doesn't like anything. Guess that means I won't be able to drop it after all.For now.

Yep. Carey is on X-Men. I'll weigh in next month with what I think. I only pick up my books on the first week of each month so I can keep track of how much cash I'm actually spending on this.
