fireballs have suffered a lot over the past 10 years, since the 92 worlds in wrightsville beach. there was a world championship in tampa in 02, but there were probably more british people than americans, at least with new, really competitive boats.lots of people got out of it after '92so, not a lot of people sail them. It doesn't help that there's not a domestic builder at the moment... I have been meaning to see if International Fiberglass would be willing to make a fireball (guy based on the NC coast, used to be in durham, designed the Isotope). At any rate, there are a good few around but not many people like to get out and sail them. a lot of people have 'grown out of them' as they are really really athletic boats. There is a group who builds them up north in PA but it's actually a high school program... they do good work though. they'll build them if you request them. I could see them making a comeback, especially with college age kids and high schoolers, cause they are not terribly expensive.

size of fleets in general have gone down since the mid nineties. The fireball looks like an awesomely fun boat. Similar to the cats, you have to be somewhat athletic, i'd love to buy one if i had some money to throw at it.

8/19/2005 5:01:55 PM
how was it?
8/19/2005 5:34:28 PM
I'm gonna go back, either today or tomorrowI found a boat that I really like out therewellcraft 232 coastal w/cabin
8/20/2005 11:39:23 AM
That's a lot like the kind of boat I'm in the market for, but I'm wanting to go at least 25'.
8/20/2005 11:42:56 AM
I like it a lot, although I ALWAYS prefer to have a pulpit... it makes anchoring easier and I actually stand in the damn thing to cast gotchas (I may be the only one who does that, I don't know) But dude, it's nice.
8/20/2005 11:43:21 AM
the 25' version was 12,000 more
8/20/2005 11:43:39 AM
K, not worth that.
8/20/2005 11:44:08 AM
Wellcraft builds a good boat too.
8/20/2005 11:44:50 AM
How much for 23'?
8/20/2005 11:44:52 AM
they wanted 44 (otd) for that boat, not too bad for a wellcraftit was my favorite boat there (that I could see me purchasing) the 35' wellcraft with triple 300's was nice too
8/20/2005 11:45:28 AM
I like the fiberglass t-top too... I don't see that often. And the cuddy cabin will be nice when/if you have a family. Whe always used ours for storage... but chix like to sit down to pee (they're too good to hang it over the side )
8/20/2005 11:47:37 AM
$44K is pretty good. Welcrafts seem to hold up well. Kinda like Gradys, there's a ton of older ones still on the water. For the price difference, I think I'd stick with the 23' myself. That's a pretty good overall boat, much like my Pursuit that just sank. lol
8/20/2005 11:48:39 AM
The Pursuit was PWNT
