The odds of two Cat 4+ hurricanes hitting NO in one season would be beyond hilarious.
9/19/2005 3:56:17 PM
The first one wasn't very hilarious to begin with
9/19/2005 4:04:48 PM
HILFUCKINGARIOUS
9/19/2005 4:07:38 PM
If it hits New Orleans again, let's just consider it God's mandate, shall we?
9/19/2005 4:21:24 PM
Ouch. Let's just hope it doesn't go that route.*crosses fingers*
9/19/2005 5:19:18 PM
Well, somebody along the gulf coast is getting fucked.
9/19/2005 5:29:33 PM
I hope it does hit N'Orleans.I just want to see how many idiots don't leave the second time.
9/19/2005 6:06:04 PM
the best logic is to hope it hits nawlins. why not fuck up whats already fucked up instead of fucking something else up.
9/20/2005 4:09:28 AM
^ this post may very well be one of the signs of the coming apocalypse.
9/20/2005 6:41:40 AM
bttt
9/20/2005 10:03:41 PM
And another and another and another, We should just excommunicate non-landlocked citys.
9/20/2005 10:07:25 PM
These images are the IGES Maximum Potential Intensity plots valid today. The weather mail list has good discussion and these were brought up today. Look at the potential values along and in the Gulf area. Interesting numbers.
9/20/2005 10:11:33 PM
Now that's just wrong...
9/20/2005 11:52:41 PM
I think this one is another LA storm. next year its all about texas...i can see it now. a nice progression
9/21/2005 12:07:09 AM
ATTN Galveston:Get the heck out of dodge. These gulf hurricanes aint messing around.-People of New OrleansAt least one guy is gearing up to stop it.
9/21/2005 12:09:04 AM
The current forecast track has the eye passing over my hometown where I was born. Its only like an hour drive from the Gulf, so I'm afraid it might get fux0red.
9/21/2005 6:35:49 AM
according to AP Rita is now a Cat 4
9/21/2005 8:07:30 AM
CNN reported that this morning. The prediction was for it to be eventually a cat 3 as of yesterday. Then they said it could be a category 3 this morning and eventually a 4.This morning it hit a 4 and they said that it could get breifly to a 5.
9/21/2005 9:18:58 AM
OMF Freak out!
9/21/2005 10:27:48 AM
It will be interesting to see what this storm does.I wonder when the next one will hit NC though.
9/21/2005 11:17:47 AM
Usually the threads in the lounge are reserved for someone dignified threads and repsonses. Maybe not so much anymore after reading some of the shit posted on this page. However, I hope they take care of the aquarium this time (unlike in NO) since Galvaston has a huge aruarium that houses 100s of penguins --- I hope people have learned from Katrina and will get the hell out of town. If I lived within two hours of the beach or more anywhere along the Gulf Coast (in Texas) I would be peacing out.
9/21/2005 11:22:42 AM
Yeah, but Houston is above sea-level. New Orleans is was not. Flooding won't be nearly as much of an issue with Rita as with Katrina. Okay, maybe in Galveston, but not Houston. But yay for the gas prices that'll probably top $5/gal...
9/21/2005 11:58:30 AM
^ time to invest!
9/21/2005 1:16:39 PM
cat 5 nowwhy cant WE get one
9/21/2005 4:29:52 PM
Rita's bout to fuck some shit up
9/21/2005 7:26:23 PM
We've gotten a 4 before.
9/21/2005 7:26:41 PM
It will likely drop from a category 5 due to the difficulty of a storm maintaining that kind of strength.I wonder if it could drop to a 3.Looking at the maps and considering the warmth of the water I would imagine it would stay a 4 if/when it drops.
9/21/2005 7:41:29 PM
Pressure just dropped to 899 mb. Third strongest ever recorded. Even stronger than Katrina.
9/21/2005 8:11:22 PM
Hurricane Rita becomes third most intense storm on record, according to National Hurricane Center figures.
9/21/2005 8:15:08 PM
Looks like we'll get to see how that sea wall they built in Galveston after the 1900 hurricane works.
9/21/2005 9:24:21 PM
holy crap, they are saying they recorded a gust of 200 mph in this storm
9/21/2005 11:25:19 PM
damn that thing is a beast
9/21/2005 11:52:47 PM
It just busted the 900mb mark:897 MB http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATCPAT3+shtml/220249.shtmlTHE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 897 MB...26.49 INCHES.THIS MEANS RITA IS THE THIRD MOST INTENSE HURRICANE IN TERMS OFPRESSURE IN THE ATLANTIC BASIN.

Why is this year's hurricane season so bad? And also what happens if they run out of names after Wilma? Just curious if that has ever happened.
9/22/2005 1:40:24 AM
