^ calling me a moron? i wasn't saying i agree with the rule i think its fucked up. i was just stating their policy. i worked with club sports out at the gym and have seen it enforced numerous times
11/10/2005 11:02:49 AM
that's not policy. do you think our library would be open to the public if it were?
11/10/2005 11:32:35 AM
no, its different at the gym. unless its changed since i've been there. i got IDed just for sitting on the sidewalk there once
11/10/2005 11:41:13 AM
well, i thought that might be the case, and so i reread your post very carefully

11/11/2005 11:06:00 AM
they still have to obey some traffic laws, like not riding on the sidewalks
11/11/2005 11:47:59 AM
Well, I do that. It's really gay. There's not enough room on the streets, and you will get clipped and cut off like mad. I'd rather take my chances running into a pedestrian than getting run over by a car. They need to revamp this place with some real bike lanes.
11/11/2005 12:40:05 PM
I take the path of least resistance, and it's impossible not to ride on the sidewalks at times, besides i'm more safe on a sidewalk because i'm not going to hit anyone (even if they think they're going to be hit they won't be) and car drivers are bad and don't even realize you're there half the time[Edited on November 11, 2005 at 12:52 PM. 11/11/2005 12:51:02 PM
Yeah, it's hard for drivers to see bicyclists darting between sidewalks and the street.
11/11/2005 1:00:10 PM
^no, it's just hard for drivers to see bikers PERIOD, i could be on the road the entire time and the driver still wouldn't even know i'm there...therefore i'm going to protect myself and be a defensive biker and use the sidewalk if i need toi give drivers the least possible chance to hit/kill me, i would rather be in control then some oblivious driver who is too used to only looking for cars, maybe predestrians, and never bikerseven when i'm on the road and have the right of way i still have to stop and yield to drivers bc they don't even see me[Edited on November 11, 2005 at 1:12 PM. Myself, I'm going to fall off my bike before I run into a pedestrian. But if I had a choice between getting hit by a car at 20+/- mph or hitting a person at considerably less, I'll take Coz's choice.
11/11/2005 10:58:32 PM
+1 to Coz

if you passed them on the right it is reckless and is my number one annoyance with bikersif you dont follow the rules dont complain when your unsafe actions get you hurt
11/15/2005 1:02:38 PM
So you should pass them on the left?
11/15/2005 1:50:39 PM
your supposed to pass on the right. bikers are always supposed to go with traffic, not against it.
11/15/2005 2:15:50 PM
Exactly. So are you guys telling me it's illegal to pass stopped cars? A bike is not a damn car. I'd like to know home many drivers would rather have bikers ride in the center of the road slowing everything down. Surely, there must be some better solution to this problem.- Can't ride on sidewalks- Can't ride on side of road- Can't ride in center of road- Can't ride on grassThe answer is clear. I need a flying bike.[Edited on November 15, 2005 at 2:21 PM. Reason : ]

Just to sort of rant a little more based on what was said here ^ : I actually think there should be some sort of certification required to ride a bicycle on the street. When I see someone on a bike going against traffic it just makes me wonder what they're thinking. It's a moving vehicle on a public street, so you need to obey traffic laws. One of those laws is that you don't go the wrong way down a street."You supposed to ride against traffic y0."
