Seeing on twitter that TDT is no longer on the team and will pursue professional opportunities in Belgium and be with his sick father.

It was over playing time, obviously. How bad must Belgian bball be? I may be able to draw a paycheck.
11/26/2012 1:02:47 PM
Sucks about his dad being ill. But a far as playing time, he just wasn't good enough to cut it.
11/26/2012 1:05:37 PM
sweet, an extra scholarship that will be better used
11/26/2012 1:05:42 PM
How much of the 'playing time' argument is pure speculation? Is he just making everything up about his father being ill?
11/26/2012 1:06:20 PM
Weird stuff. Gott said this morning he was still on team but official release says he told Gott Sunday. My guess is father and pro opportunity is cover for playing time.Anyway, good luck kid.
11/26/2012 1:07:44 PM
This has been a rough couple of months as a state fan, even by state fan standards.

Why would he leave at this point? At least ride out the season...
11/26/2012 1:32:02 PM
he fucked their girlfriends.
11/26/2012 1:32:42 PM
Tdt isn't very good but he is a warm body we could throw in during howell's inevitable foul troubles, now we are down to jvd
11/26/2012 1:44:20 PM
is 10 minutes of vandy really that much of a downgrade from 5 mins of tdt + 5 mins of vandy?
11/26/2012 1:46:37 PM
11/26/2012 1:48:42 PM
btw, we are now ranked #18
11/26/2012 1:48:49 PM
not good, down to 7 scholarship players. he may not have been anything special but he was a much needed body that could somewhat shoot/rebound...we'll be missing him come acc play when leslie and howell both have 4 fouls
11/26/2012 1:51:52 PM
He went out on top, as Caterpillar Scholar Athlete of the WeekWe now have 2 quality guys on the bench, both Freshmen. I don't expect shit from JVD.Great.^ is JVD not on scholarship? I thought it was 8 (Zo, Calvin, Howell, Wood, Purvis, Warren, Tyler Lewis, Vandy).[Edited on November 26, 2012 at 1:55 PM. Reason : z]
11/26/2012 1:53:53 PM
^^8 scholarship players.[Edited on November 26, 2012 at 1:54 PM. Reason : 1]
11/26/2012 1:54:06 PM
most teams dont have more than 7 good-great players anywayhe wouldve certainly helped for minutes when bigs got in foul trouble, but i refuse to think we were going to need him to come in and help win us any games because guys were tiredof course i dont really subscribe to the theory that 18-22 year olds in the best shape of their lives are gonna get tired when theres a tv timeout every 4 minutesgranted it might be a factor during the acc tourney or some other situation with 3 games in 3 days, but i dont think its a huge loss
11/26/2012 1:54:21 PM
Don't see much of an issue other than he was a good body to use during practice. TBDV minutes should increase, and we need a little bit more height anyway. De Thaey's problems all seemed to be with his head, never looked confident. TBDV doesn't have to try and do as much. Dunk anything you get your hands on under the basket, and keep your hands straight up on defense.
11/26/2012 1:55:08 PM
Since he's gone, I should talk to Gott about my chances of walking on
11/26/2012 1:55:48 PM
meh, if he or vandy had to play anything more than 2-3 min a game in ACC play it was bad news anyways. We were already going to be basically playing a 7 man rotation anyways, this just reduces the options a bit. Didn't want him to leave, but I don't think it really changes the trajectory of the team one way or the other.
11/26/2012 1:56:16 PM
you need 200 minutes from your team in a non-overtime game (5 guys on the floor for 40 minutes)we have 7 >= good players, thats 28.5 minutes apieceadd in extra minutes for CJL, Brown, etc, and guys like Lewis don't need to play more than 16-18 minutes a gamenot worried
11/26/2012 1:59:59 PM
8 my badI'm not saying its a game changer, but I am saying he could have been useful at some point in the season and its not a good sign]
11/26/2012 2:00:59 PM
We basically have a (theoretically) more mature version of last year's team. Dept is just a question in the frontcourt, where Warren is the only strong reserve.
11/26/2012 2:05:53 PM
figured it was coming after his post-unca tweet...thought it was purely playing time related at that point...then his more recent tweets makes it sound like it was family related more than anything[Edited on November 26, 2012 at 2:11 PM. Reason : .]
11/26/2012 2:10:04 PM
who misses Painter now?
11/26/2012 2:10:32 PM
we were missing painter well before this
11/26/2012 2:13:43 PM
^ Yep.
11/26/2012 2:24:12 PM
it's whatevskies
11/26/2012 2:33:45 PM
The guy we are missing most from last year is Lorenzo Brown.AMIRITE?!
11/26/2012 2:47:00 PM
good one
11/26/2012 2:52:34 PM
Goodnight, sweet waffle.
11/26/2012 3:53:39 PM
Lorenzo and Leslie need to play well in this game. They are making all those pre-season accolades look Harrison Barnes laughable at this point. The rest of the team will do it's job if those guys set the standard.
11/26/2012 4:03:20 PM
So we drop to 18, Carolina to 14. Ok State is 16. How is it that they lose to unranked Butler and only fall to 14?
11/26/2012 8:05:28 PM
shit, I'm missing Josh Davis right now.
11/26/2012 8:05:29 PM
Shit I'm missing anthony grundy right now
11/26/2012 8:10:03 PM
where have you gone kelsey weemsof course we're missing josh davis. He's a monster stud now if you didn't know. Always liked that guy, we definitely could have used them these last few years.[Edited on November 26, 2012 at 8:16 PM. Reason : a]
11/26/2012 8:15:02 PM
just looked him up. he's averaging 19.2pts and 10.5 rebs at tulane.good for him, glad he was able to find a place where he could flourish.
11/26/2012 8:31:42 PM
Painter doing less great. 8.7pts, woeful 41% shooting, 6.8 RPG.
11/26/2012 8:35:51 PM
Anyone have lower level tickets for the Stanford game?
11/26/2012 9:45:47 PM
I miss Josh Davis too. I think he'd be playing a huge role on this team right now, especially with the waffling waffle (j/k, good luck TDT).Julius Mays had a pretty good year at Wright St. last year, and he's averaging 9 points and 4.4 assists this year at UK. Do you think he'll claim NCSU when he's announcing his alma mater on Monday Night NBA?
11/26/2012 9:49:28 PM

josh davis is also shooting 77 % from FT line on 47 attempts already...remember how ugly his shot was?? the dude has put in the work obviously...and he's grown 3 inches
11/26/2012 11:44:09 PM
we lost our best defender and thats the main reason we are not quite as good as we were last year.
11/27/2012 10:10:46 PM
most sane basketball fans believe we're better than we were last year
