Liturgy will play Duke Coffeehouse Feb 1st. The Coffeehouse is notorious for under-announcing things, so just giving you a heads up if you care.

Fanfarlo is playing The Cat's Cradle on March 9th. They're a great band and you guys should go see them.

2 upcoming shows I will not miss:MiniTigers/ChainGang74 at Nightlight (via Cat's Cradle) in Marchand just announced: St. Vincent at Cat's Cradle in May. Tickets for the former on sale Monday. Yet to be released when they go on sale for the latter.
1/20/2012 11:14:11 AM
Fuck yes St. Vincent. Can't wait for that.
1/20/2012 5:10:01 PM
They still haven't announced when tickets are going on sale. By the way, though this may be obvious, anybody wishing to go needs to buy tickets asap because it will sell out quickly (especially at this point).
1/21/2012 1:36:35 PM
Tickets are on sale Friday. It says that in the Cradle email I got.
1/21/2012 1:40:09 PM
Cool. Thanks for letting me know. Friday at 10, I'm assuming. I will be crushing that website.
1/21/2012 2:38:54 PM
I really want to go to this Future Islands/Twin Sister show tomorrow in Greensboro. It's only 8 bucks.
1/23/2012 1:53:00 PM
You can pre-order tickets for St. Vincent from her Facebook page or http://www.ilovestvincent.com for the show at the Cradle. Just announced a few minutes ago.
1/24/2012 2:12:40 PM
I shall just wait until Friday.
1/24/2012 3:16:42 PM

Jeff Mangum
1/30/2012 11:35:52 AM
omgomgomgomgomgomgSpiritualized at the Cradle, May 12...show of the year potential right there. Can't wait for Mangum tonight.
1/30/2012 1:26:44 PM
When do tickets go on sale for that? Any idea? Also, I have no idea what those folks have been up to for a very long time, and I thought their last album was panned by a lot of people and I didn't pay it much attention, so I'm not going to assume show of the year or anything. But I would really like to go, and I'm sure it'll be pretty ridiculous for selling out, as well...[Edited on January 30, 2012 at 1:43 PM. Reason : k]
1/30/2012 1:31:35 PM
i'll probably go to the show on 5/10 at 9:30 club if i can get tickets. that'd be a pretty ridiculous week. i'm already going to andrew bird on 5/8 and m. ward on 5/13.
1/30/2012 10:46:45 PM
I saw Spiritualized at the Cradle in 2001 and was underwhelmed (and I was a huge fan of Ladies & Gentlemen and Let it Come Down). At the same time, I've talked to some folks who said it was the best show they've ever seen. I'm trying to figure out what I missed.
1/31/2012 2:36:40 AM
so, jeff mangum...
1/31/2012 3:23:26 PM
How many times is Active Child going to play the triangle in less than a year?
1/31/2012 3:34:33 PM
Jeff Mangum was pretty much really fucking great as expected. Nailed all the vocals and everything. He seemed super comfortable up there as well. Kind of wish people had stood up and gotten into it for more than just the encore, but I blame that on the lack of alcohol in the venue. Opening band was the worst thing I've ever seen. Had to go in the hallway. The lead singer looked like David the Gnome.
1/31/2012 3:52:40 PM
i was really surprised how funny jeff mangum is. i always got the impression he was a tortured soul, but he openly joked about how he "snapped".
1/31/2012 7:38:22 PM
Mangum was great. I thought a couple of songs (Carrot Flowers Part 3, mostly) suffered from the sparse instrumentation. Had to hang in the lobby during the opener. The show would've been even better someplace less sterile that served alcohol. The girl next to me and StillFuchsia was fucking crying for the entire show...it was hilarious.[Edited on January 31, 2012 at 8:04 PM. Reason : Seriously, though, Memorial Hall should never host any shows ever.]
1/31/2012 8:01:41 PM
1/31/2012 8:12:09 PM
^^ I agree. hated Memorial Hall. so stuffy. fuck UNC.
1/31/2012 8:16:58 PM
I wonder why they weren't serving alcoholive been to a few shows there and they were serving drinks at all of them
1/31/2012 8:31:23 PM
Because they were letting a student group work the concession stand as a fundraiser (I heard the girl working explain this 20 or 30 times while I was in the lobby during the opener).
1/31/2012 11:13:28 PM
The show was indeed great, but my knees were mashed up against the backs of the seat in front of me. I was basically in pain the entire performance. Fun times!

2/1/2012 10:51:03 AM
^cool. thanks for the heads up.

Spiritualized is on sale now, for those that care. [Edited on February 2, 2012 at 9:57 AM. Reason : k]
2/2/2012 9:54:25 AM
got my ticket. can't wait. 9:30 club has a sold out andrew bird show, a sold out (that i don't really care about) ingrid michaelson show, a (probably) sold out spiritualized show, 2 sold out M83 shows, and a (maybe potentially later on) sold out m. ward show all within 5 days of each other. i'm missing M83 because of a wedding in damn salisbury that weekend. ugh.[Edited on February 2, 2012 at 10:36 AM. 2/2/2012 12:26:21 PM
!!! at Motorco 4/18I HIGHLY recommend that anyone who enjoys insanely fun dance parties go to this show. Shabazz Palaces co-headlining.
2/5/2012 1:20:45 AM
Definitely planned on it. There is a pretty stout spring schedule around here so far...
2/5/2012 3:07:49 PM
Anyone been to the 9:30 club? Is it a nice place to see a show?
2/5/2012 9:10:45 PM
^^yeah, no kidding, totally agree...spiritualized, st. vincent, !!!, matthew dear, the magnetic fields, etc. should be a great spring/summer full of shows
2/6/2012 12:12:05 AM
^^I don't think it is that bad. two bars, balcony up stairs with bench seating. Not sure if they have a bar up there, I didn't go. The area around it looks kinda sketchy but it is only like two blocks from the metro stop so it's not that bad. I am going to both jack's mannequin shows there this weekend.

^lolcan't wait 2 see dave cheese and dispatch on the beach bruhAlso, FUCK SKRILLEX. Like Pretty Lights and Bassnectar before him, I wish he'd just go the fuck away. Except he's even bigger and so even more annoying.
2/7/2012 12:00:29 PM
unrelatedon my way in to work this morning i got behind a pickup truck that had SKRILLEX written in what i think was lipstick across the back windshield.wat
2/7/2012 12:07:41 PM
To be fair, that lineup is about the most well-balanced I've ever seen. Also, Steve Winwood, wtf?
2/7/2012 2:59:22 PM
what the fuck raleigh. why so many awesome shows on the same damn night.i already bought tickets to ben folds (and probably would have picked that show anyway), but just saw this:http://www.indyweek.com/scan/archives/2012/02/08/the-avett-brothers-the-love-language-to-headline-16-band-benefit-for-oliver-ganttickets go on sale at noon. the avett brothers at kings? uh, yes please. actually..... i bet ben folds would be done before midnight....hmm, i assume they will declare the venue full and make people go to one of the other shows once it fills up. i guess there's probably no chance i could go see ben folds and then head over to kings afterward to catch the avett brothers (probably around 10 or 11). i might still try anyway though.
