in Charlotte this weekend for my CrossFit Level 1 Cert.

We had to do tabata squats (20 seconds as many squats as possible, 10 sec rest x 8)

not to mention we had breakout sessions (OUTSIDE) to drill: air squats, front squats, overhead squats, press, push press, push jerk, deadlift, sumo deadlift high pull, med. ball cleans...

and then....at the very end of the day...

we had to do FRAN

21-15-9
Squat Thrusters, 95lb
Pull-Ups

I went 5m 12s...which is either a PR or pretty close. I'm proud of it considering how shitty I felt after a long day (fastest time of the day was 2m 44s!)

Can't wait to see what tomorrow's workout is...

3x10x115 deadlift
3x10x30 one arm swing
1x10x40, 3x10x50 push press with bar
1x8x20 dumbbell prone cuban snatch

500m row

that cuban snatch is harder to do than I thought it would be.

I found out today that Centennial Campus has a three-mile fitness trail with several workout stations. I'm going to start hitting this up a couple of times a week as an ancillary workout, jogging from station to station while focusing on one muscle group for the day at the stations.

I'm pretty sure there's one on Oval Dr as you turn from Centennial Parkway into Centennial Campus.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=centennial%20campus&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&oe=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wl

Start at the intersection of Oval Dr. and Centennial Parkway; there is a stretching station there. You head south on the sidewalk along Centennial parkway, hitting the second workout station at the bottom of the parking lot. The third workout station is on Centennial near the location of the future roadway. A fourth workout station is at the intersection of Centennial and Achievement Dr. Turn west along Acheivement Dr, and there is a fifth workout station at the intersection of Achievement Dr and Main Campus drive. This was the last workout station I found, but from here you have a nice loop by heading north on Main Campus Drive and then back to Oval Drive.

After taking a second look at the map, the trail only appears to be a little over 2 miles. There was a greenway trail at the fifth workout station that may go somewhere else to extend the path around the lake or something.

I have only been able to find three of these workout stations whenever I ran this trail.

I buy the plain and add splenda and a half-cup of pineapple; it's less sugar that way.

2 tablespoons olive oil
4-7 Thai chili pepper, minced
2 tablespoon agave nectar
1/2 head of cabbage, coarsely chop
1lb ground chicken
4 golden plum tomatoes, diced
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
3 tablespoons fish sauce

Mince garlic and chili pepper together.
Fry the garlic and chili pepper in oil over high heat deep frying pan/wok. When garlic starts to turn blond, drop the ground chicken in. Stir constantly. The juice will start to come out. Keep stirring until all the juice is gone. It might take a couple of minutes. Add agave nectar and fish sauce let simmer for a few minutes. Then add cabbage and tomatoes. Quickly turn it over a few times to mix with the meat and keep turning until cabbage is al dente (opaque in color). Serve hot with basmati rice.

Just made this in up in my brain tonight and it was AWESOME!!! NOM NOM NOM! Mixing of flavors does not always work well with me.

hey neodata686, chocolatervh is down for Loco Lime on a Tuesday as well. We need to figure this out.

So for those of you that still go to Lifestyle

who would be interested in a 4 part "Movement" series of classes to learn proper technique on all the big lifts. I'm going to start asking my clients and some other people, but figured I'd mention it here as well. If there's enough interest it'll be pretty cheap. AT MOST it will be $25/class

we'd cover:

squat/front squat/overhead squat

press/push press/push jerk

deadlift/sumo deadlift high pull/med. ball cleans

review + basic snatch technique

^ Is the guy I'd see at the gym who is probably super nice and encouraging but even halfway through p90x and showing decent results just looking at him would make me feel extremely puny still.

I guess when I run Centenniel, I never turn down Main Campus Dr. I always run Centenniel Dr. to the Farmer's Market and back to the IM fields.

I meant to take progress pics yesterday, but was preoccupied, so I will try again next monday

I weighed in at a dehydrated 194.2 this morning

I haven't been below 200 lbs for a few years, but I'm not complaining

Lots of sweating and outdoor activities all week and the weekend, coupled with clean eating

WIN!

my trainer uses a place called Velocity Sports off Nations Ford road. I live in Plaza Midwood so I hate driving out there but i'm doing it because it's incredibly cheap. I typically go to a gym closer into town when i'm on my own, and I run/bike close into town.

My mom got a Bally Total Fitness nationwide yearly deal for like $55 a year back in the 80's and they told her the rate wouldn't go up so she's still paying $55/year for nationwide access to Bally gym's so sometimes I go there as a guest. Pretty sweet.

I think they are 3rd party people that use their facilities. I've met 2 that have something like that set up with them.
