he said we have a tough schedule in july...i'm not gonna read anything into that. if you complain about the schedule in october and november then you are making excuses. but i think it's totally reasonable to point out that we do have a tough schedule. nothing to see here, imo
7/18/2016 4:52:26 PM
7/18/2016 4:55:22 PM
lol 6 great teams. there are 2 great teams, and a few good teams. but our schedule does blow.
7/18/2016 5:09:03 PM
General Patton he ain't, yall.
7/18/2016 5:20:45 PM
yeah he may be overstating how "great" they are. but assuming the 6 toughest games he's referencing are ND, FSU, Clemson, UNC, UL, Miami then he's right...that's definitely a tough schedule. 3 elite level teams, and 3 legit top 25 contenders.
7/18/2016 6:05:23 PM
there's only one great team in the country, and their name is muh Vawls. Go Vawls!
7/18/2016 7:11:25 PM
Well 5 of them will be in the top 15.
7/18/2016 8:10:51 PM
wonder if any of those 6 teams have partial qualifiers

Not sure if there is a way to embed the video, but DD had a pretty good dig on Fedora.https://twitter.com/ArmstrongABC11/status/755218388197187584So +1 credibility. Good for him. He is working his way out of the credibility hole like his overall win deficit.
7/19/2016 10:42:26 AM
It sure isn't a conspiracy theory to assume NC State coaches feel jaded by UNCs cheating. I'm sure he feels there is no level playing field in the state of North Carolina[Edited on July 19, 2016 at 11:17 AM. Reason : ]

Funny thing is he wasn't complaining when we got the soft schedule pre-ACC last season. If he wants to be great shouldn't he want to play and try to beat some good programs? Anyhow, be interesting to see how he does against ECU. They're actually a step up from the teams we been paying early on in recent years which is saying a lot.

The pitchforks are out already and it's only July. Can y'all take your hands off his throat until we at least kick the ball off to start the season?
7/19/2016 1:22:16 PM
easy now, i think we all like doeren, but us sensitive folk about this issue liked him cause he never spoke like this. he's always had the 'why not nc state, we can beat anyone" mentality. he's not less of a coach for doing it, but just prefer he hadn't. he's correct in his statement, but who cares how tough our schedule is?
7/19/2016 4:06:52 PM
^ I think I have made it pretty clear that I do not think he is a good coach, and think he should have been fired after going winless. But the reason I posted his comments is because it is mid-July, the dead period of sports. What else is there to talk about?
7/19/2016 4:32:48 PM
He never went winless tho
7/19/2016 5:06:58 PM
details.fuck em.

I wasn't the only person who could see that DD was not a good coach after his first year. It's not an overreaction when you can clearly see that someone is in over their head. And rather than waste another 4-5 years spinning our wheels, we could have gotten out in front of it and moved on to the next guy. But it's in the past and doesn't matter anymore. It was 3 years ago, and he has proven me right. He is clearly not a good coach, and is especially the wrong person for this program. We need someone who is either a great game planner or a great recruiter. DD is bad at both of those. But he had a good one liner at a mid-summer press conference. So lets try to celebrate his successes before the season starts. +1 credibility.
7/19/2016 10:42:39 PM
so what has kept us in games against elite competition?A. His game planningB. His recruitingC. TOB's recruitingOne must have been good for us to play with the top teams in the country and not just get wiped off the field. [Edited on July 19, 2016 at 11:27 PM. Reason : k]

7/20/2016 9:54:47 AM
It was the first and only winless conference record since we started putting on pads and helmets in 1892. Must be all TOB's fault.
7/20/2016 2:13:55 PM
7/20/2016 2:30:14 PM
^^ So TOB would have won conference games with Pete Thomas starting then?[Edited on July 20, 2016 at 2:30 PM. Reason : ^]
7/20/2016 2:30:26 PM
I'm not a proponent of firing guys after one year. But it seems some people are acting like the only winless conference record in school history is no big deal.
7/20/2016 2:37:32 PM
It's headscratching that people somehow can't give the guy a pass for that year. Nick Saban is going 0-8 with Pete Thomas taking snaps for State. He was barely a D1 quarterbackHow can people not see they handed him a pile of dogshit in a bag and told him it was lunch?
7/20/2016 2:41:31 PM
Well on top of that don't forget his "guy" that year was a injury prone WR that converted to QB and got hurt on the very first quarter of play in the season. So it's not like even with a healthy QB we could have done very well anyways.
7/20/2016 2:56:15 PM
7/20/2016 3:00:51 PM
TOB was able to beat FSU with Daniel Evans and an equally awful team (who only won 2 conference games). And it's more than just the losses. We got smoked in each of those games. Honestly, that was three years ago. There is plenty of evidence outside of 2013 that shows he just isnt the right guy for us. Hopefully we can move on sooner than later.
7/20/2016 3:06:57 PM
Wait, so because TOB pulled a miracle out of his arse you expect the same miracle playing the future #1 pick in the draft at QB in Tally? What other game did we get smoked in you're referring to? We lost by 8 to Clemson on a horribly blown call when they said Underwood was out of bounds
7/20/2016 3:13:50 PM
7/20/2016 3:52:21 PM
^^Actually, Clemson beat us 26-14. And they were running away with it.We lost every game by >10 points, except UNC-CH, who was only able to beat us by 8. And its not like we had a killer schedule. Wake was terrible. UMD, Syracuse, BC and UNC-CH all ended the season 1 game over .500. Not exactly world beaters there.[Edited on July 20, 2016 at 4:27 PM. Reason : 1]
7/20/2016 4:26:52 PM
oh, the off season and memories of TOB

7/20/2016 4:33:01 PM
7/20/2016 4:59:46 PM
if he does bad this year, we can probably all agree that its been enough time and its time for him to go so can we just shutup about ancient history and get excited for a season with many explosive weapons.
7/20/2016 9:09:15 PM
7/20/2016 9:13:05 PM
not that it matters in the least, but i've never heard that before ^ about TOB having another QB lined up. TOB recruited thomas to transfer into the program. now, i'd totally buy the argument that we probably win another game or two under TOB that year. but then we'd still have fired him. so...what difference does it make.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkFUYelCp0UIf we have our 2nd winless season ever he might be working at Auto Bell with The E Man
7/26/2016 1:01:15 AM
We've never had a winless season but keep intentionally misrepresenting what happened if it makes you feel cute in that outfit
7/26/2016 2:27:15 AM
Sorry, winless conference season. I didn't think I needed to point out something so obvious.
7/26/2016 2:56:04 PM
Cant believe people are still arguing about Doeren. Doesnt really matter who we bring in we are a 5-7 win team year after year with one random outlier occasionally up or down. Just accept that this is the reality of our program and enjoy our wins over non conference trash and the Wake Forests and BCs of the conference.
7/26/2016 3:44:30 PM
^i realize it's nitpicking, but i'd argue we're more of a 6-6/7-5 program with the occasional outlier season. just going back to 1990, we've been to 17 bowls in 26 years...that's hardly great, but it is going to a bowl game more years than not. or just going back to 2000, that's 11 bowls in 16 seasons which is even better.going back to 1990 we average 6.4 wins per year. again, i realize i'm nit picking, but to say we're a 5-7 team on average means that we usually aren't making bowls. but recent history suggests we do make bowl games more times than not.
7/26/2016 3:57:32 PM
7/26/2016 4:00:13 PM
Fair enough I guess my thought process on that was as soon as we start trying to add better non conference opponents 5 wins may happen more often.
7/26/2016 4:01:10 PM
ahhh....i thought you meant a 5-7 record, not 5 to 7 wins. yeah i pretty much agree with your assessment. i just can't read good
7/26/2016 4:20:52 PM
7/27/2016 9:12:17 PM
BtttDoeren's offenses always seem to have whiskey dick.
