You once again prove that you are especially talented at completely missing a point. It's not that they're the same. It's that they are generally an expected part of the game.
11/15/2012 2:26:21 PM
The last freshman we had that actually exceeded expectations his freshman year was Josh Powell in 2001.TJ Warren is now in that class.Granted, a lot of that has to do with how poorly Sendek handled freshman (and sophomores, juniors, seniors for that matter). We finally got GOOD ONES.
11/15/2012 5:42:55 PM
JJ HicksonIt wasn't his fault the rest of the team was out of shape and stunk.
11/15/2012 6:47:19 PM
Warren isn't exceeding expectations. He's been this good for a while now. Why the recruiting services had him as a good but not great player is beyond me
11/15/2012 7:11:16 PM
uh the guy is literally making every shot.As of right now I think he'll be significantly better than harrison barnes was a freshman. The guy everyone said was as good as Kobe (lol).
11/15/2012 7:12:24 PM
Kobe has been terrible the last 10-15 years, so I don't get the comparison
11/15/2012 7:13:33 PM
jj hickson was the biggest piece of fucking trash while he was here...ball hog AND inefficient... its different to ball hog when you are scoring efficiently
11/15/2012 7:46:56 PM
^You couldn't be more wrong. He was one of the few players in that train wreck of a season that brought it every night. ]
11/15/2012 8:06:49 PM
11/15/2012 8:36:42 PM
have to agree with hey now hereif you want to look at what the problem was during jj's year here, start with costner. pretty sure hickson went 13/13 in his first game here, or something like thatjj was awesome, costner was skating pouty ass cheeseburger face
11/15/2012 8:40:11 PM
i hate agreeing with hey now because he's a smug selfish assholebut Hickson was the bright spot of that season
11/15/2012 8:44:03 PM
Tracy Smith wasn't that bad
11/15/2012 8:45:54 PM
14.8 ppg, 8.5 reb, 1 ast, 0.7 stl, 1.5 blk, 2.7 to on 59.1% FG and 67.7% FT (6.3 FTA)Not trash. Those are sweet nums for a freshman. He did struggle some against the double team (2.7 turnovers) but he only averaged 8.9 FGA per game.

11/15/2012 10:03:07 PM
Anyone else in favor of a giant slender man behind the goal for free throws?
11/16/2012 12:32:35 AM
Tracy Smith was decent. And yes to slenderman[Edited on November 16, 2012 at 1:24 AM. Reason : slenderman]

apologies if this is oldCool site that uses data to project wins/losses, seed in NCAA tournament, chances of winning ACC, easiest/hardest games remaining, etc. http://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/team/nc-state-wolfpack/projections

anybody with insider to post this for us?http://insider.espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/blog/_/name/ncbexperts/id/8634690/will-too-much-depth-problem-nc-state-2012-13-college-basketball

bdmazur Most students start cheers before the cheerleaders start one and they stop listening to them when they do a cheer that isn't good for chanting. The main problem is people speeding up everything we try.

Not to be pessimistic, but is anyone else the least bit concerned that we have exactly three guards on our team that can play against ACC opponents?
11/16/2012 8:21:49 PM
Its something that many people have commented on. Yes, it's a major concern if one of them gets injured.Wood can play SG in a pinch.
11/16/2012 8:24:18 PM
Anyone would be screwed if they lost a star guard. We wouldn't miss a beat if lewis got hurt.
11/16/2012 8:45:55 PM
we're not deep, but we have the luxury of having multiple line-ups with seven talented players (and 6 starters, and vandy and tdt as our 8th and 9th!). an injury would suck, but we would persevere.
11/16/2012 8:59:36 PM
Famous last words
11/17/2012 12:34:40 AM
we're plenty deep enough to win a title, just not enough to sustain an injury.
11/17/2012 12:40:09 AM
You are crazy if you think an injury to lewis, vandy or tdt would slow us down one bit.
11/17/2012 1:31:49 AM
sigh.
11/17/2012 1:38:27 AM
^^an injury to lewis absolutely would hurt us a lot. the other two, not as much, but you still need to have that depth for games against duke and unc when we'll have 30 team fouls called on us.
11/17/2012 4:42:20 AM
I actually agree with E Man for once. Those guys are logging wasted minutes imo
11/17/2012 9:24:34 AM
Looking at the numbers, the thing we have done well so far is shooting. We aren't really elite in anything else -- rebounding, defense, getting to the line. If you want to be concerned about something, the lack of some strength other than shooting can be it.
11/17/2012 9:41:08 AM
Depth can cost you a game here and there but its significantly more important to have great players then it is to have depth. In today's NCAA with the way guys leave early there are plenty of top teams who don't have depth.Who the fuck was Kentucky's 8th man last year? Irrelevant. We've shot up to 15th in kenpom already despite the preseason rankings still dragging us down. This team is definitely the butterball turkey of the cold meat aisle.
11/17/2012 2:28:04 PM
when i said we can't sustain an injury, i felt like it was obvious that i meant to players logging 20+ per game. clearly tbdv can sprain an ankle w/o serious repercussions.
11/17/2012 2:36:26 PM
Game day! Beat OK State!
11/18/2012 3:48:58 PM
I was wrong about our depth. I thought it would be a legitimate problem, and not just in case someone gets hurt. Warren being a stud has pretty much eliminated any concern there.
11/18/2012 4:04:24 PM
This game shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who watched the last couple games, these same problems were there. Our ranking is going to plummet, the local media who didn't buy into the high ranking will have "i told you so" stories all week, and it will take a lot for us to move up this high in the ranking again. This team has talent, but these problems were obvious and apparent even before this game. Let's hope Gottfried pulls everything together and gets some passion back in the team.
11/18/2012 8:30:43 PM
If we beat Michigan, this loss won't matter at all
11/18/2012 8:38:16 PM
I'm already over it. If this team is actually going to compete for a top spot in the conference they need to stop being so damn lazy, though. If they just want to go 23-10 and get an 8 seed, they can keep playing like they have in the past week.

^^^^terrible "analysis"We ran into a buzz saw and played terrible on our side. Late season this would have been indicative of severe issues, early season it's just resolvable issues.[Edited on November 18, 2012 at 8:41 PM. Reason : ^s]
11/18/2012 8:41:31 PM
Well, height isn't resolvable. The front court is going to have problems if they expect to throw up weak ass layups against taller, athletic players or expect the rebound to fall into their hands.
11/18/2012 8:43:42 PM
Effort is resolvable which was what I saw in those things.
11/18/2012 8:44:57 PM
it wasn't analysisnothing about it is incorrect
11/18/2012 8:52:02 PM
so when do we get to see how far in the rankings we fell?
11/19/2012 1:09:43 PM
Sometime today
11/19/2012 1:11:19 PM
Ranking above UNC and Duke lasted what, a week?
11/19/2012 1:24:58 PM
It's mid-November.
11/19/2012 1:35:02 PM
Now ranked 16th in AP
11/19/2012 2:20:01 PM
How many more games like yesterday's before we hear that one player is screwing another player's girlfriend?
