Yup, redshirt junior means he's been here for four years.

Honestly there's no a coach in the NCAA who expects a talented player to use their entire eligibility. I'm sure they're happy when it happens but they should all know that when you get in a talented player there's a chance he'll leave after 2-3 playing years (depending on redshirt).

It's his decision, and all he's done is submit some paperwork. As long as he avoids agents like the plague and just tests the waters a bit he can always decide to stay.

I hope it works out for him, whichever decision he ultimately makes. Does anyone know if he's going to graduate this year (or perhaps already has)?

[Edited on January 3, 2012 at 1:38 PM. Reason : It's sad that it has to be stated that RS Junior = 4 years.]

Still can't believe that people try to argue that players should stay 4 (or 5) years. If you can make the big money now, it's kinda stupid to stick around college and risk injury, losing it all. You can go back and get your degree anytime. Of course, there's the argument that if he stay another year, he'll probably increase his draft stock, but that's at the risk of getting injured and losing all draft stock.

I surely hope Manning sticks around though.

This is called 'oversigning' and is considered by most people to be highly unscrupulous who aren't SEC coaches or homers.

From the start I meant 4 years of play, which I stated already.

From my perspective, I think he should come back. He'll be the main guy talked about of our front 7 and theoretically we'd be a much better team giving him more opportunities in the spotlight. With a big year he could go late round 1

But I completely understand why he'd want to jump now. With the knee injuries he suffered his frosh year and in high school he's gotta know he's always one play away from having nothing. And he should test well, so rounds 2-3 which are still decent pay days and usually guarantee you a few years worth of chances aren't out of the picture

[Edited on January 3, 2012 at 1:49 PM. Reason : ^what about when the coaches dont hold up that end of the bargain, like when we ran off a certain qb]

^^that doesn't lend any credibility to your argument

[Edited on January 3, 2012 at 1:51 PM. Reason : ^no qb was "ran-off", and i'm pretty sure he's pretty happy with the way things turned out]

Manning has missed almost 2 full seasons of football between his senior year of high school and his redshirt year here. Don't be a selfish fuck. You only get so many chances to play pro ball and make millions. You really do belong at PP.

I don't think it's a good move, but I'm a selfish bastard who wants to see him bury Renner next year. Hope he turns heads at combine and sneaks in earlier than expected.

Dumb VT. If you do intercept you've got worse field position than if you just batted the ball down.
