I would think in front of the CAM would be neat but only if you're close to there already. Though I guess you could take the R-Line there.

Samwise, Moore Square would be most convenient for us and it is so pretty! I'm just trying to determine if they're going to have an event there that same day, but it looks like there won't be anything! Thanks!!!
9/13/2011 1:58:02 PM
booked a bakery.looks to be that all is left is catering and officiant.except the little stuff.also, it appears as if amazon does wedding registries. that's kinda neat.
9/14/2011 11:12:44 AM
Our caterer was banging if your wedding is in NC. http://www.catering-by-design.com/
9/14/2011 11:22:44 AM
it is.considering we're going apeshit bananas on other things and paying for this, we're actually considering going with the pig pickin' approach.because come on, who doesn't love bbq.(and it's $Scandinavia instead of $Eurasia)and let's be honest here, most wedding food isn't worth the $50/head.
9/14/2011 11:28:43 AM
haha he actually does pig pickings on the regular. He's reasonable but you'd be amazed what other caterers get away with charging for a pig picking. My friend did on at her wedding and the caterer charged her $100/person
9/14/2011 11:52:33 AM
We're going to book Fuckwad's hubby and he does BBQ which is what we're gettingAND A CHOCOLATE FOUNTAINSOLD
9/14/2011 12:32:06 PM
haha I briefly thought about a chocolate fountain but then had nightmare images of drunk people knocking over said fountain and then having to pay to recarpet the venue.

Ours is outside under a pavilion [Edited on September 14, 2011 at 12:52 PM. Reason : Ps I just realized my wedding paper divas coupon expired August 31st ]

my sister had a chocolate fountain at her receptionit was to be set up after dinner, before the cake, as a desertafter the table and chocolate fountain got brought out, there was a crowd of like 4 deep all around the table just watching the people arrange the rice krispie treats and fruit on the sticks salivating. abandoned their tables/dancing. lolz.so, if you want to avoid that, think abt your timing [Edited on September 14, 2011 at 1:20 PM. We are having a nacho cheese fountain at the rehearsal dinner.
9/14/2011 1:27:19 PM
haha yeah we had people trying to move in on the nacho bar table before our caterer had even finished setting it up for the cocktail hour. WHEN WE HUNGRY, WE EAT
9/14/2011 1:29:15 PM
yeah it's going to be out during the cocktail hour, and I'm going to ask her hubby to make me a specific plate of treats Dessert before dinner is the way to go[Edited on September 14, 2011 at 2:32 PM. Reason : And I'm sure people will be stalking it haha]
9/14/2011 2:32:27 PM
I want a Cheerwine fountain...
9/14/2011 4:42:26 PM
yes!
9/14/2011 4:53:49 PM
mmm...cheerwine...I bought my dress as a deal- but after getting it tailored and then steam cleaned? It's almost doubled in price. FML.Also, I'm running out of ideas for bridesmaids' luncheon. What should I do? Can I have the BML on wedding day?!!?! Or is that absurd....
9/15/2011 11:00:06 PM
I've heard of having the BML on the wedding day, and on the rehearsal dinner dayDo what works best for them Good luck with everything, and congrats!
9/15/2011 11:51:32 PM
My BML was on my wedding day, and so was my older sister's. It worked out well with our schedule and we turned it into a getting ready at a fancy house and eating there. On the flip side, my younger sister's was the day before. It was a separate occasion entirely, much more relaxed, and more non-wedding party people were able to attend. However, it really takes time out of the last day of really getting stuff done. So, it just depends on where you want to have it and your preference for your schedule. I honestly think it will be difficult to take time out and go somewhere nice (like a restaurant), or have a fancy meal or themed party on the day of your wedding. So, if that's what you want, I would try and do that the day before.[Edited on September 16, 2011 at 7:14 AM. Reason : ]

BML = bridesmaid luncheon?I did mine the morning of since my bridesmaids were all coming into town at all different times. It was just the easier to coordinate and we were able to devote the Friday to finishing up random odds and ends. While the boys did the heavy lifting of setting up the tables and stuff in the venue, I brought the girls to a place right down the street with a bangin' brunch. Once we were done we went back to the venue to do the decorating while the boys went and did whatever (I'm assuming drinking lol).

prepare yourselves for epic, colorful, crazy, lego filled wedding updates over the next year.
9/21/2011 1:40:26 PM
^ that's awesome I was thinking of making Eric's boutonniere out of a Lego man... he doesn't want a flower and he loves legos, so why ask him to wear something he hates?
9/21/2011 2:01:30 PM
fantastic idea! i was thinking of doing something similar, but i have a while to figure stuffs out. I also have a wedding to go to at the end of october, and I want to keep all my wedding planning to myself until hers is over. Don't want to steal anyone's thunder. Monkey has a friend who has a girlfriend who has decided to plan her wedding. She wants to get married next october. They've been dating for nine years but the boyfriend hasn't proposed, and when Monkey asked him he said they weren't getting married. What does everyone think of this? Should I be respectful of her plans and ask her about dates and stuff before planning mine or just pick whatever date I want and not worry about her craziness?
9/21/2011 2:06:13 PM
You got the ring first, you get to pick the date first is how I see it.
9/21/2011 2:49:53 PM
^ Yeah seriously. Sounds like the girlfriend has just gone cray cray.
9/21/2011 2:54:47 PM
She's a bit of a chameleon. She quit her job and applied at daycares/preschools after meeting me, and started her planning for next october after hearing about the other girl getting married this october. i feel bad for her. i know she really wants kids, but the guy doesn't, and sees no reason to get married after living dating for 9 years and living together for so long.*she didn't quit, she now works at three places, and just started up a "stampin' up" scrapbook business. The only people I took into consideration for planning dates:My husband (then fiance)My parents/his parents. My sisters (to an extent).I don't care if it's your best friend. Unless she's got a venue already booked or the date nailed to the wall, pick your date for what you want. If she comes back and said "But I wanted October" then just remind her there are still 3/4 other Saturdays in October that she can choose from if she wants to attend your wedding, or wants you to attend hers.[Edited on September 21, 2011 at 3:12 PM. ^ that makes me feel a little bitchy - I didn't ask anyone granted, we picked our date almost two years in advance and the only thing we were basing it around was my graduation
9/21/2011 3:44:35 PM
if i ever get married its going to be here's when my wedding is - come or don't
9/21/2011 3:45:20 PM
That was kind of our philosophy, too. Be there or be square, and we won't mind if you had something else planned at the time.
9/21/2011 3:47:27 PM
exactly - it's a wedding not the end of the world if you miss:shrug:i'm pretty nonchalant about that kinda stuff although i still want a big party
9/21/2011 3:50:47 PM
4^2 years in advance you shouldn't really have to ask anyone.
9/21/2011 3:52:44 PM
Completely agree. We only took the people into consideration that we knew *had* to be there. And by took into consideration, I mean, we checked to make sure no one had surgeries scheduled or babies due for that date. Otherwise, the onus was on them to make it in.
9/21/2011 3:56:20 PM
the only considerations we made was that it didnt fall on the anniversary of some sort of epic disaster (yeah i casually know someone who got married last year on 9/11... who would do that), or on a holiday weekend.everything else is kinda trivial.
9/21/2011 4:04:35 PM
My bday falls on the anniversary of VA Tech I dont think any major catastrophe falls on May 19th......
9/21/2011 4:07:04 PM
we did my BML the weekend of the bachelorette party. day of rehearsal/RD i took all the BMs for mani/pedis. we had mimosas and snacks at that.only person we asked for date aside from immediate family was a bridesmaid that I knew already committed to being in another wedding. wanted to make sure it wasn't the same date b/c i really wanted her there. THEN we had a huge falling out and she withdrew from our wedding. so much for consideration [Edited on September 21, 2011 at 4:08 PM. Reason : ]

I feel like I have to make sure with this chick, but not because of me. Her man is most likely going to be a groomsman, and she just seems like the type that would have a fit about it, or would schedule hers like the week before ours and we would be battling about crap all year.
9/21/2011 4:13:45 PM
Honestly I doubt you'd be battling anything. She'd just be driving her boyfriend crazy and you wouldn't hear much about it. And to be really honest, I'm not sure what makes her think a wedding is going to happen in the first place. I remember my uncle dated this woman for aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages and one day she up and decided they were going to get married. It was about three months later they broke up
9/22/2011 8:24:41 AM
I had plan ourwedding day around the Navy's schedule for my husband's submarine. So, well in advance we gave people about a 6-week period when it would happen, but it was only about 6 months before the wedding that we nailed down the actual date.
9/22/2011 8:59:16 AM
I have to have a date picked by the end of November. Crap. This means I have to look at venues. I don't want to!/whine...for now
9/22/2011 10:03:43 PM
So I know you have a love for Legos (as do I) and I think it would be pretty cool if yall did Lego centerpieces. Like got a bunch of sets of Legos, put them together and then used those as the centerpieces for the table. I don't know how I got to this train of thought but I imagined my T-Rex Lego dinosaur with his glowing eyes in the middle of a reception table and thought that would be baller (plus the Lego T-Rex is one of the first gifts my boyfriend ever bought me). Anyways. Thought I would share Yay Lego love!
9/22/2011 10:08:27 PM
Dammit double post[Edited on September 22, 2011 at 10:08 PM. Reason : Legos]
9/22/2011 10:08:32 PM
^^^ Aww I like looking at venues. You can pay me to do it for you I'll write up analysis reports on each one lol.
9/23/2011 9:02:21 AM
Lol. Someone tell me where to start! Googling wake or franklin county wedding venues brought up lots of results and made me slam my laptop shut. And there will totally be lego centerpieces. I'll post some pics of cute things i have found.[Edited on September 23, 2011 at 9:30 AM. Reason : lego]
9/23/2011 9:25:19 AM
Just start thinking of places that you think are cool. There's probably lists that rank them, go check out theknot.com and see if there's anything specific for your location.
9/23/2011 9:41:30 AM
The bad thing about the knot is they don't list every place
9/23/2011 10:18:37 AM
Yeah theknot kind of sucks for that sort of thing. http://www.ncbridebio.com/ has a fairly comprehensive list.
9/23/2011 10:31:19 AM
lol. not lego themed, but legos will be incorporated in to it somehow. it probably won't be super formal. we have no budget yet. My dad has only told us how much he was giving us, mom hasn't told me yet, and his parents said they are going to give us some but we don't know how much. Once they tell us, we'll figure out how much we want to spend as well. It'll be probably november or december 2012. indoor. [Edited on September 23, 2011 at 10:36 AM. Reason : .]
9/23/2011 10:36:11 AM
For the Triangle area you can expect a venue to cost you anywhere from $400 - $5000 I found when doing my research. It's pretty nuts! And it doesn't seem like price necessarily reflects amenities. Like our venue was $600 and included tables, chairs, a bar area, etc, but I looked at $2000 venues where you didn't get squat.
9/23/2011 10:53:14 AM
crazy! here are some lego stuffs I've found:
