6/20/2010 4:13:15 PM
the ref is losing control of this gamehahaha kaka elbowed that guy in the chest and the dude pulled a Rivaldo and started holding his facepeace kaka. the other guy should be yellowed for dramatizing an injury to the wrong part of his body[Edited on June 20, 2010 at 4:15 PM. Reason : f]
6/20/2010 4:13:52 PM
wow. here we go. this is sad, but this is a direct result of the referee's failure to call fouls earlier this game.[Edited on June 20, 2010 at 4:15 PM. Reason : TERRIBLE officiating... again.]
6/20/2010 4:14:45 PM
It's getting a little too chippy out there. The Brazilian players know they've won it and just look like they're cruising till the end. Someone needs to get a red card.Lol at the Ivory Coast player acting like he got hit in the face.[Edited on June 20, 2010 at 4:15 PM. Reason : and there goes the red card]
6/20/2010 4:15:00 PM
this ref is complete garbage and allowed this to happen
6/20/2010 4:15:53 PM
6/20/2010 4:15:57 PM
Jesus Christ. What a fucking joke.
6/20/2010 4:16:04 PM
woooooooooow
6/20/2010 4:16:13 PM
lol at the commentators calling De Rossi pathetic.
6/20/2010 4:17:46 PM
theres a chance that guy might get a ban, since rivaldo got one for doing the same thing in the 02 world cup i believe it wasthat was keita wasnt it?[Edited on June 20, 2010 at 4:18 PM. Reason : f]
6/20/2010 4:18:00 PM
You mean the one acting? If so yeah.
6/20/2010 4:18:44 PM
if the ref wouldve just given the guy who cleated elano's shin a red earlier in the game, this wouldve been managed better and finished better[Edited on June 20, 2010 at 4:20 PM. Reason : man grammar]
6/20/2010 4:19:41 PM
^ agreed
6/20/2010 4:20:24 PM
yea it was keita. the ref really let this get out of control. the game should've been a lot different really , if he would've called it correctly
6/20/2010 4:20:53 PM
im sort of glad to see kaka sent off though. i want to see how brazil can work without him. i dont think hes working well in dunga's system.
6/20/2010 4:21:44 PM
well i hope elano is alright because that was a terrible challenge against him.^ i think they'll be fine... although he did have 2 assists.[Edited on June 20, 2010 at 4:22 PM. Reason : k]

i cant believe ivory coast only got 3 yellows this game...i saw more studs up challenges than yellows they received...im having a hard time deciding if this game or the usa game was the worst reffed game of this world cup so faryeah, his 2nd assist was good, his first was kinda lucky he kept possession of the ballimo, fifa is looking really bad this world cup and things seem to keep getting worse hah[Edited on June 20, 2010 at 4:35 PM. always nice to see Drogba score. after Makelele and Van Nistlerooy, he's my favourite player.that second goal by Fabiano was sick! he made 3 CIV defenders look like statues. the way he dribbled around that first dude, was like a grownup taunting a child..
6/20/2010 5:53:43 PM
..not withstanding the handball that is
6/20/2010 5:54:20 PM
^yeah, twice
6/20/2010 6:41:59 PM
6/20/2010 7:39:21 PM
the problem, whether or not ivory coast got mad, was that all their studs up challenges were not punished. and thus allowed for it to get chippy in the end

6/20/2010 8:19:33 PM
^^^The last man tackle on Altidore should have been a red.
6/20/2010 8:26:43 PM
Uhm, no, I can see the USA game is overshadowing what else happened that day but...Look, you're all forgetting that Serbia vs. Germany was THE worst officiated game this cup. What was it 10 yellow cards?
6/20/2010 8:58:23 PM
mann schaft blinders on
6/20/2010 8:59:34 PM
^^^ no way, they were shoulder to shoulder on a 50/50 rundown
6/20/2010 9:09:41 PM
Italy are one of the reasons for me why football, and the World Cup in particular, is the best. No other sport can come close to providing opponents that genuinely live up to the level of pure, unmitigated awfulness Italy regularly provides. Sure, there may be teams/contenders you don't like because a local rivalry or whatever but Italy are basically Dick Dastardly personified. A hateful team of despicable, cheating, mustache-twirling bastards who poison everything they touch. The world needs heroes but it also needs villains to make them look good.

6/20/2010 9:12:31 PM
You may be thinking about a different challenge. Shoulder to shoulder was a simple foul at most, I am talking about grabbing him with both arms and wrapping him up from behind to the ground so he couldn't get the 1 v 1 on the ball from Donovan.[Edited on June 20, 2010 at 9:27 PM. Reason : 68' mark]
6/20/2010 9:19:37 PM
^that was a justifiable yellow. i think if you go back a few pages, everyone seemed to agree on that. it would have been a red if altidore had a straight away 1v1, but he was making a move away from goal, taking away the "obvious goal scoring opportunity". (of course, the completely objective/unbiased commentary of john harkes wanted a red)regarding the germany game, it was tightly officiated. i think in general, refs have to find the balance between tightly officiated games (germany-serbia) and loose games where the contact is high (brazil-ivory coast). both of those games are examples where the balance wasn't found in either direction, but if i had to choose, i personally would rather a ref let the players play than take control of the game and act as an authoritarian. the germany game was bad, but it didn't alter the outcome of the game. after the 20th minute or so, players should have been able to adjust their play to accomodate the tight officiating, and they didn't. so any complaints from germany fans really sound like sour grapes.[Edited on June 20, 2010 at 11:54 PM. Reason : you got a freakin' PK and couldn't convert -- it wasn't one sided]

^^1- henry is playing, ronaldinho is just not good enough to play for brazil. zidane was old 4 years ago.2- this happens every world cup. part of the excitement to me, is watching the young players define their role. in 2002, i had very little idea of what to expect from miroslav klose and podolski, and i was blown away by their play. part of the brilliance of the world cup is watching the torch being passed.3- i guess, but i don't think it's that bad. at least not outside of france and england4- i'm far more tired of the vuvuzela complaining. it's not that bad, and players complaining sound like they're looking for a cop-out. seriously, every domestic league has some sort of crazy fan behavior, so i don't see how this is any different. and many teams are still playing well, so it's hard for me to believe this argument. the only good thing about the vuvuzela bashing is that it takes the focus away from the usual "bahhhh, the ball sucks and we can't control it" whining that we usually hear/all-in-all, i think the cup is doing fine. the first round is always a mixed bag of brilliant/horrible/conservative play, and it's often not until the last match-day of each group where the level of play really takes off. i doubt that will be any different this year.[Edited on June 21, 2010 at 12:34 AM. ^^1. henry is on the bench, rhonaldinho was the best in the world in 2006, so these losses have impact if new players dont take over2. i agree except that new great players are no where to be seen, we've had plenty of games to find young talent and i havent seen it3. oh its that bad, just watch any club soccer match then come back to this world cup and you'll see it4. its the only explanation that fits, being that it affects everyone, and is obviously annoying, perhaps the fact that you hear this complain a lot might be cause its true and no one in FIFA is doing anything about it
6/21/2010 12:39:20 AM
1) i know henry is on the bench, because he's not in top form, and 2006 was 4 years ago, which is a lot of time for a player to lose form.2) higuain?3) some of the world cup games have been quite exciting to me, maybe not to you, whatever. i certainly don't go in to every match expecting the play i get on fifa '104) vuvuzelas cannot possibly be more annoying/distracting than:people only hate on them because they are new/foreign. the great teams will overcome the minor nuisance they create. in fact, the great teams already have[Edited on June 21, 2010 at 1:15 AM. Portugal just decided they wanted to score a bunch of goals. 3-0 on some impressive passes early in the 2nd half.

6/21/2010 8:49:27 AM
They are abusing the North Korean goalie.
6/21/2010 8:49:32 AM
is no one up watching Portugal demolish North Korea? I was pretty upset with the first few days of action, but pretty much from Chile's first game until now the action has been much much better. Watching the Brazilian team play yesterday (before it got out of hand) was a thing of beauty. Today Portugal is playing backyard soccer against the north koreans, this is crazy, 3 goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half. I think the tourney is getting better and it will continue to get better as we move to the knockout stage. I think some of the final group stage games will be good and some will be snorefests for teams that are already advancing, but overall after the first round of games was completed the play has been much more entertainingoops, guess I took too long to make my post.I hope this assbeating doesnt make Kim Jong Il push the red button and start bombing people[Edited on June 21, 2010 at 8:53 AM. well see ya later CIV, fun while it lastedmaybe Sven would re-think his pussy ass tactics if he could have another chance at this group and not stifle his team's creativity and free-flowing attack to play for bullshit draws with a sub-standard defense
